  1. Agreed. Given that we are in the infancy of the technology, and how fast it will iterate, I expect that those tweaks won’t be needed before long.
  2. A podcaster I listen to had this take recently after a report came out saying that AI is going to make hacking passwords a lot easier: “What people aren’t talking about is quantum computing. Once you add quantum computing…there will be no password that can’t be broken, and very quickly. Ultimately once you marry it to AI, AI will manipulate us like social media bots have done, but much worse. Right now the bots push us to call each other names and cancel each other online… AI will prompt our hate of one another to the point of all out civil war. Each side will be convinced that the evil from the other side can only be stopped by war. Because of our response to social media bots, we’ve already showed AI the blueprint to sow societal chaos. Ultimately, once we get to quantum computing, which will make passwords created by humans obsolete, AI will be able to get to all the nuclear codes on earth. Because AI wants to survive, so blowing up the planet is not a good idea. It’s more likely that it will hold humans hostage to the threat of nuclear weapons, or, as a demonstration just kill everyone in one country to get humanity to submit and comply.” So in short:
  3. Out of things to watch so rewatching Face/Off. It is SO bad.
  4. Roman made a comment like “oh I just thought you’d been eating your feelings.” So he noticed.
  5. One of our sales engineers actually did this at the office today. I couldn’t believe it.

  7. Great, more Hooked on Classics and Mannheim Steamroller in our future.
  8. Pretty wild to think you’ve dropped 80+ pounds of water and CO2. I wonder what the ratios are.
  9. If you are someone who never needs to come to the office and works heads down with little human interaction on a daily basis: AI is coming for you. I would come into the office a lot more if traffic wasn’t so bad. I would love a world where personal drones take us everywhere.
  10. My hope is that while AI will be incredibly influential and powerful in all forms of art, it still wont be able to truly innovate. It will always rely on the past. You can tell it to make a new Jimi Hendrix song, but it won’t ever make a new Hendrix (or Tarantino or H.R. Giger). That can only come from a human. So while it will be able to crank out fairly generic or derivative music or movie scripts (the writers strike is probably accelerating this), there will still be lots of room for innovation.
  11. Rome with some actual humanity. Even the hearses in this show are baller.
  12. I loved the joke about the NPC walking away in a straight line.
  13. Definite Chappie / District 9 / Alita Battle Angel vibes. At least Disney isn’t making it! Plus it has Sturgill Simpson.
  14. Not watching since I’m at baseball with the boy. Is it that bad?
  15. You’re describing how working from home turned into living at work. It’s real and it sucked. I just spent a week in face to face meetings and they are so much more productive (not to mention civil) than a bunch of no-camera zoom screens.
  16. Was delicious. Glad I wasn’t paying at $50 a pour. This on the other hand was almost undrinkable to me. I think I just don’t like mezcal.
  17. After a week in a Venetian suite: they really need to update their rooms. Lighting was very dim and the TVs are shit. Casino is stale. Wynn and Encore are much nicer.
  18. Talking to colleagues, it sounds like it has a lot to do with how creative your cab driver knows how to get. Some of them were taken across and/or down the freeway to get where they needed to go.
  19. Testing out the exterior of the death sphere
  20. Holy crap you’re young. What are you doing here?
  21. Zero. But the Strip at night is a complete shitshow with the paving for F1. Sat in a cab for half an hour trying to get from Venetian to Aria and said fuck it. Cabs can’t get anywhere because there is construction on the alternate routes too, so EVERYONE is walking. Sushisamba was good for dinner and Flight Club is cool. Like Top Golf for darts and the tech works really well.
