  1. Nice little rally since i was on a minication. Correlation is not causation but maybe i should go on more minications
  2. The Jeep is majority European-owned, btw.
  3. 100%. I still love driving my own car around and going to smaller cities or the country side. Just the hyper cities are not good for dragging a kid too big for stroller, too small to walk everywhere We were meeting my family, who visited for the first time. They started in Milan and said the more south they went the more hectic it got 😆
  4. So uh this Rome trip was a debbie downer. Official Roma taxi from the airport ripped us off with meter fare instead of flat fare within the Aurelian walls. (We pointed to the literal walls at our stop). Official taxis hailed in the city using their official Uber clone app overbilled us after the rides. All the drivers were intrusively chatty. We took the train back to airport to avoid traffic and all this taxi distaste and the train had a billion people on it. The bus in the city was a joke. Schedules meant nothing. Literal hour go by for stops that were meant to be every 15 minutes. (We spotted from our apartment balcony). I shouldve known that from walking along a narrow street, seeing a line of 50 backed up and honking cars, to discover the head of the line was a stopped/broken bus. The one time we did ride a bus, it drove literally off-route. Bonci didn’t taste half as good as I remember. Went to some nonna-owned trattoria raved about on Eater and Timeout and etc and it was meh. Rest of the eating was just okay. (tbh ive always had that opinion) There was a trillion people at Trevi fountain and all other attractions, despite not officially being Spring season yet. Its not too family friendly as there werent many parks or greenery for my kid to play in, and the ones we found were like nasty. Im just too spoiled by sleepy northern europe that I find much of this city chaotic and filthy. I still marvel at all the great ancient architecture everywhere but its tragic to juxtapose what that was to where the modern Italian state is today.

    Sonos thread

Turntable just needs to hook up to any compatible sonos device, ie speaker with aux or port/amp. Once its there it can rebroadcast across sonos net. mines connected to Five with signal autodetect but its sorta janky and autoplays half the time. getting slightly fed up with sonos voice features as it randomly plays shit or has false triggers. turned that off.
  7. Today this hit home today like a predator drone. Plan: stay in hotel near airport tonight. take 6am flight tomorrow morning. meeting my family whose already established at the vacation house. short weekend trip, sunny destination (ie minimal packing required). because i already do 95% of vacation planning and booking, and we’re flying from *her* family’s place, she agreed to take care of the hotel for tonight. this whole week, i “gently” remind her we need a hotel. “okay yeah ill look at it”. this whole week, she continues to work from home on-and-off into the evening. (its mostly voluntary, because she wants to show off). tonight, 13 hours from departure, she runs over exasperated. “i havent packed anything. i dont know if we can bring kiddos medicines [uh yes we can]. i didnt buy ziplock bags or portable containers for my liquids [uh, we can buy another $3 bottle of shampoo at destination, if its not already at the airbnb]. i havent even thought of what to pack. …and…uh…did you book that hotel yet?” i tried not to answer.
  8. Today i watched a korean guy speak english in an italian style
  9. 3. Unrelated but were acquired around the same time at similar ages. I think they had some Star Wars Queen Padma type of bond amongst themselves so after the first one died, the others got sad and dragged down soon after.
  10. Wife had 3 of her Beagles from youth put down in the same year. Degenerative cancer stuff. Devastating stuff
  11. i would kill.
  12. i got just the thing fam
  13. Not necessary newly-invented zoomer names, but they all have names of low class stereotypes. Wayne in UK. Ronny is really really crass in Norway. Kevin in Germany and neighboring countries too, derived from tacky people trying to Americanize their kids.
  14. does this change the facts i've discussed or do your facts require personal motive?

    1923

I've dealt with Newark customs and immigrations plenty of time and never got the full service treatment.
  16. The validity of the argument wasn't tested because the product, vision based FSD, wasn't tested. The video creator admitted that yesterday. When his video was challenged with suspicion, he posted a "raw footage" in response. That footage turned out to be from a different event. He admitted the video was staged across multiple weeks. That's all straight from the source, independent of what you think of your friends in your group chat.
  17. CO2, otherwise known as New Carbon Monoxide
  18. WebMD says sometimes it happens to men even younger than 48
  19. Someone could make a video about that AP... but your description in the thread and the videos title doesnt match its content.
  20. Local warming concerns
  21. i swear to god, in another dimension i just wrote this post, 99% word for word except for 'montana'. next time i will tell her it starts 1 day earlier than the actual date, so her packing would actually be ready when we need to leave. her excuse for not having the packing ready? she has to spend lots of time doing a full clean of the house before we leave. and what is the first thing that she does when we return? another full clean of the house. (WHY?!!?!?)
  22. fire and co2 detector devices are a conspiracy by the Big 9V Battery industry. change my mind.

    3D Printing

Prusa is introducing a mobile-based front end app for 3D model slicing. Really easy to send print instructions from your phone (through a cloud based slicing engine) to your printer. It's invite-only for now while they're refining it. https://blog.prusa3d.com/prusa_easy_print_on_phone_tablet_110894/

  25. Despite the title, he didn’t use FSD. In the different video rolls, he either used an older functionality (AP) from a different tech stack, or none at all. Luminar, the Lidar company whose employee was in the video helping produce the test, promoted the video on its webpage. And then they immediately took it down.
