  1. I will say I could see other airlines changing to have you "pre-pay" for 2 "free" bags like Southwest does so they don't have to pay out late bag fees since they were "free". Still amazing that other airlines haven't gone to Southwest's marketing gimmick regardng bags. People hate being nickle and dimed and hate paying for things they previously didn't have to.

I get the refund for bags arriving late, no wifi if you paid for it, etc.  That's a service the airline failed due to some incompetence on their part.

But refunding  tickets if you're late or flight is cancelled?  Surely there is some fine print around if it's due to airline being at fault. Bad weather delays and cancels flights all the time.  I don't see how this does anything other than raise prices to cover the inevitable refunds.  Maybe I'm missing something.

I'm thinking it covers them and yes it likely will raise prices slightly. Biggest thing is it sets a "standard" that all airlines have to follow. I don't see if changing things too much though other than making process simplier and the same across airlines. On weather delays or cancellations, most people are still going to do what they currently do which is accept the delay or accept the alternative flight. I don't think many are going to be looking to refund their ticket to only have to purchase another same day ticket assuming they can find an empty seat somewhere else.  This just puts out there a plan that says you no longer have to hassle the airline to get your cash back when now the first 10 people you talk to say they can't do that but can offer flight credit.

Completely and pure speculation, but I could see the thinking and reasoning being an overreaction to the Harvard and Penn presidents who were fired--er, resigned-- due to their not stepping in and allowing things to get out of control. So maybe he's thinking about his job, which is kind of ironic, give that this overreaction the other direction is more likely to cost it than inaction (probably) was.

Maybe he was probably thinking, "crap, I don't want to get paraded in front of congress and embarrased and what a pain in the butt, and who knows what happens if this thing gets out of control and goes all anti-semitic like it did in the Ivies, ugh. better safe than sorry, and I AM in Texas, after all..."

Heavy is the head that wears the crown, I guess.

Probably, but he's an idiot. Next week starts finals week and then a large chunk of the student population goes home. It wasn't out of control and odds of it spiraling out on it's own in a week were slim to none.

I will keep this updated by posting my lowest 30 year loan YTD (not buying points) on a conventional loan.

Right now I had someone in at 6.124%- no points on a standard 30 year conventional.  That's winning the year for the present.  Hopefully I bump this post before the end of the year- but I'm starting to worry I might not.

I'm rooting for you (and us), just don't see any context where that happens anytime soon.  I'm much more of the belief that we'll end 2026 thinking  6.124%  isn't bad.

  5. We need to start with replacing DeBoer. Vegas got rid of him for exactly what we are seeing now. Come playoffs teams have figured out how to counter his system and his team "suddenly" goes into a scoring drought. It's like clock work.

Its trending that way after hours. But Elon is in spin mode with "new cheaper cars coming, robotaxi coming" etc. I give it a week and the fall in share price will resume once everyone realizes he's full of shit like always.

There was a time when replacing Elon as CEO would have tanked TSLA, have we pass that now? Would replacement actually raise the stock price (seriously)?

  7. Elko's "changing the culture" and "going blue collar" is just replacing existing 4 & 5 stars with fresh 2 & 3 stars

I can't see Elko's personality opening up the pockets of the big donors after they just lived through the jimbo years.

I'm of the thinking aggy signed a deal with the devil when they hired jimbo. They thought having to buyout jimbo was the price they paid, but payment hasn't actually been collected yet. It's about to become due.

I believe The Pirate said you can't teach accuracy. No?

Yep, also said and fits here...

"People make this mistake all over the country, and everybody can think of one, but there will be a guy who is big, strong and athletic, and everyone gets tempted by speed and if someone has a super strong arm. I've seen guys improve, but they don't all of a sudden become accurate."

  9. Damn.. just saw.  I had one of the best steaks of my life at the "Steak & Ribs" in Rif Fort area a couple years back, the flank steak with chimichurri sauce.  I still have dreams of that steak.

  10. I'm looking to add drapes to our patio as well. Already have roller, would like drapes for winter to keep warmer and cut down wind.

Will need support in middle, but can get  "C"-hooks that will slide over the middle support so drapes can go full span or pulled to either side.

On length, I'd be concerned shorter ones wouldn't be heavy enough to not sway with the wind and blind people periodically who are looking that direction.
