The QB Situation
That’s leadership and accountability. Herman’s not practicing or preaching it so there is none. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tom "the turtle" Herman [Lame Duck or greatest 5d chess player ever?]
Based on the presser he doesn’t care what you, a mere graduate of the University he represents, thinks. Damn glad I didn’t drink the kool aid and buy season tickets. This is gonna be a train wreck of a season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The QB Situation
Exactly. Run twice and the third time they stop dropping 8.

Using DirectTV Now DVR to catch up on Maryland game during rain delay. Controls really clunky, make it tough to quickly scan through a game and skip the dead spots. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Del Conte’s Overture to aggy - bad or good look?
I was at a luncheon this week where CDC spoke, and someone asked him about scheduling aggy. Hearing him explain this was interesting. The offer was sincere, and rebuffed. Said Alabama called the next day, and we traded up. Then stated that aggy missed a chance that won’t come again for a long time, because now Texas is scheduled out 10-15 years. So unless we meet in a bowl game it’s not gonna happen.

Barry Sanders - Great Read On His Untouchable '88 Season
Seeing them both play (I was on campus at OSU for Sanders then came to the University and stayed in Texas) it’s pointless to try to pick between them. 1a and 1b. Different styles but both giants among boys on the field.

Not SW, but Berli’s in Pflugerville is solid. Certified to work on most of the upper end brands, did good work on a recent repair for me.

Indoor/outdoor wireless speaker system
I’m thinking about something similar for a patio. How are you setup? Is the connect outside with the speakers or is it inside and you ran wire out for the Polks?

Austin Nostalgia Picture Thread
That was definitely supposed to connect to McNeil further north. A 1987 arterial plan showed an extensive network of roads in this area, as opposed to the clusterfuck we have now. I couldn’t find a link to the whole thing, but here’s a crop showing McNeil: http://www.texasfreeway.com/Austin/historic/freeway_planning_maps/images/austin_planning_map_5-feb-1987_mres.jpg Also of interest: - Arterial 8 paralleling 2222. the only remnants of this today is a 6-lane section that goes one where at the top of Jester Estates. - Steiner Ranch Road (just off this cropped map) was supposed to have a bridge across the lake. So what happened? You can probably answer that yourself, but to make sure this plan could never be enacted the city bought all the aBCCP land and effectively killed any hope of a rational road network in this part of town.

US Army selects Austin as home of new Futures Command
Aggy had nothing whatsoever to do with the decision to locate this facility in Austin yet still felt compelled to issue this press release. News release from the Texas A&M system: The Texas A&M University System will join a consortium of higher education institutions and state agencies that will offer expertise, research and innovations in support of the U.S. Army Futures Command (AFC) in Austin, the U.S. Army announced Friday from the Pentagon. During a press conference, Army officials said the effort leverages higher education offerings in Texas with private sector innovation, cutting-edge science and technology, prototyping and demonstrations and warfighter testing and feedback. “The Texas A&M System is ready to support Army Futures Command,” Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp said. “This is a great day for the state of Texas. Government and academic leaders came together to offer an unbeatable combination of talent and resources.” Chancellor Sharp added that The Texas A&M System campuses in the region – including College Station, RELLIS, San Antonio and Central Texas – as well as the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station, and Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service will bolster the core mission of the Army Futures Command. The A&M contribution will give American soldiers a technological advantage to bolster national security. “We are honored to support the U.S. Army in this exciting next chapter,” said Michael K. Young, President of Texas A&M University. “With more than 15,000 graduates per year – nearly half of whom are in STEM fields – and nearly $1 billion per year in research, as well as more than 1,000 current veteran students, Texas A&M University is well equipped to deliver on expertise and innovation for future success.” The U.S. Army Futures Command — which was announced in October 2017 and informally referred to as “modernization command” — has eight cross-functional teams working toward reducing prototype development, demonstration and testing, and the evaluation process from 60 months down to approximately 12. “The state has a wealth of capabilities to bear between its military resources and broad academic and research base,” said Steve Cambone, Director, Texas A&M System Institute for National-Security and Cyber-Security Education and Research. “We have the breadth of resources and testing and evaluation facilities within the Texas A&M System to help the Army ‘fail early and succeed quickly’ in support of the Army’s mission to modernize.” Among the areas the Army is aiming to modernize include development of improved long-range precision fires, a next-generation combat vehicle, future vertical lift platforms, a mobile and expeditionary Army network, air and missile defense capabilities and soldier lethality. The Texas A&M University System’s offerings include producing graduates with bachelor, masters and doctoral degrees in high-need fields including biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and materials and materials engineering. The establishment of the command marks the most significant reorganization of the institutional Army since 1973, according to Army officials. It is being headquartered in Austin to best partner with academia, industry and innovators in the private sector, while providing a good and affordable quality of life for command personnel.

This is a man. He's over 40. He's a man.
The story I always heard was that the Gaylord family (The Oklahoman) wanted a sports powerhouse. At the time Oklahoma A&M under AD Henry Iba was the better sports school. They offered to bankroll and Iba said no, he wanted a clean program. So they went to the Sooners who welcomed the money with open arms. Years later after Iba was gone State tried to cheat their way back and just weren’t very good at it, being on the list of schools that missed the death penalty only because SMU got there first. Agree with all of this. I grew up in Oklahoma, went to State while Gundy was QB, then came to the University for graduate school and never went back. OSU’s success under Gundy made Texas’ recent dark years bearable. Without him they become another middle of the pack team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
