  1. Yeah, it's real. I have one that was part of a collection I was given back when I was a teen.
  2. I don't know crap about v-ball, but I am learning, and have really enjoyed this thread.
  3. Damn, that's a great look John, nice styling. Also his eyes are the windows to his soul....a dark void.
  4. They've worked damn hard for us to get to this level of insanity. Why fix it now? Just another political football to toss about while the country (world) burns. Distraction while they stuff their pocketbooks with working man cash.
  5. I was thinking his chants were pretty lit too. Seriously, his story would make a good movie. Second, where do folks like Allen West fit in this Anglo-Saxon superiority and exclusionist talk?
  6. Matthew McConaughey may be a viable candidate for Texas governor; poll shows actor ahead of Abbott McConaughey leads Gov. Greg Abbott, 45% to 33%. But his middle-of-the-road appeal may not open an easy path for him to November’s finale, experts warned. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2021/04/18/matthew-mcconaughey-may-be-a-viable-candidate-for-texas-governor-poll-shows-actor-ahead-of-abbott/?outputType=amp&__twitter_impression=true (There's more in the article based on results of the UT-Tyler polls. Also this: Matthew McConaughey defends election denial among Trump’s base The Oscar winner said in a podcast interview that Trump supporters are being fed ‘fake news’ that keeps them in denial, while blasting the ‘illiberal’ left for being condescending. https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/12/07/matthew-mcconaughey-defends-election-denial-among-trumps-base/ Personally, I think if he wants to put his hat in the ring, then start lower, like a county commish, or possibly a state rep.
  7. There's a new doc on HBO: Exterminate all the Brutes. It's pretty timely considering BLM and voter suppression. But it reminds us this has been a problem for a long, long time, and not just here and not just one race as the victims, but more one race giving the shaft to all others. It's 4 parts.
  8. Imagine he's going to try to barter about 100 signed rocks with the IRS?
  9. This is shocking, right? New study links evangelical Christianity to phallic insecurity in the United States https://www.psypost.org/2021/04/new-study-links-evangelical-christianity-to-insecurity-60461
  10. I didn't read any of it. Waste of time. Fuck Chip Brown.
  11. Been watching Silk. It's a bit confusing the Brit system with clerks, barristers and solicitors vs. what we've been exposed to from Perry Mason on. But it's a good show with good acting. BBC doesn't put out much junk.
  12. I'm not sure, but I can ask. I'll call him tomorrow. At that age things change in a hurry.
  13. Thanks to the podcasts, the boy and I made the pilgrimage to Airline for our first Pinkerton meal. I'm still full. We will be doing it again soon, but probably go the the SA location next. We need some Surly/Pinkerton tees. Would you guys be interested in doing a phone interview with a WW2 vet who was in the 1st Special Service Force? It was the first Green Beret type group. Guy is 99 and from the Valley. If you want, I can reach out to him and see if he's game. He was pretty lucid and sharp back in October last I talked to him. Might be good off season talk. Up to you.
  14. Matt Gaetz probably set that up for John. And they hire the best and brightest too. You know he didn't find that, some staffer did and they all went "AH HAH!!! Got her!" IF he would have been any good, THAT he would have done via Twitter...so that soundbite would stick. Fox and OANN would have run with the tweet and left out the comments. But he left himself vulnerable, giving her the opportunity to shoot him down. Dumbass. Go have another Corona in a shot glass. Stay calm, it will pass.
  15. How many times have we seen interviews about black parents/grandparents teaching their kids how to interact with cops or abusive assholes like this? How many generations? More than I can count. I would guess part of those lectures is to stay cool and not react militantly. To avoid eye contact. I'd lose my shit too if that guy came after me. But then being white, my parents never had to give me those talks. It's just sad there's a need for them at all.
  16. You would think the publishers would be wise by now to the grift play of writing a book and then selling them all to a PAC for gifting purposes. Guaranteed sales and guaranteed money in the pocket of the author-scammer. I do not want to spend any time in a simulation where he's the norm. Not one minute even, out of curiosity.
  17. This hits so close to home for me. Back in the 90's I saw Chris one Sunday afternoon at Saengerhalle. We had about 8 people there. It was hard to compete with Gruene Hall. About a month later we had Hayes Carll make his first gig in NB at the same place. About the same 8 ppl there for that too. Hayes used to open for the Morales Sisters. Some good music back then with Adam Carroll, Jeff Plankenhorn, Cary Swinney, Groobees, Slaid Cleaves, Nathan Hamilton and lots more. That was back when Cross Canadian, Great Divide and other red dirts weren't playing Gruene yet. Good music, good times. I miss that music. Glad to find this thread to keep up with the new talents on the scene.
  18. I would bet there have been several attempts to dry him out via the rehab route. It will be interesting to see how this gets handled.
  19. Thought I read somewhere where Biden and team were looking to re-invigorate the Peace Corps. Maybe they plan to pull out the 4000 troops and weaponry and replace it with 4000 PC types in humanitarian type aid? I guess I keep hoping someone up there took 'Charlie Wilson's War' to heart.
  20. An example of that empathy: https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a36110787/joe-biden-pick-up-child-toy-capitol-police-memorial-service/
  21. These cases aren't going to be dismissed or closed until after their worth for stirring up election fraud is expended. That will be after these states get their voter suppression laws passed. Then unlike Covid and election day, all these trumped up charges will disappear. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/texas/article/Fact-checking-Texas-lawmaker-s-claim-of-400-16095858.php
  22. The current wealth of bio-docs on musicians continues with the Tina Turner doc. Some of these have been formulaic, but this one breaks out of that some by getting more into how the past haunts her daily, how the press and public wouldn't let her relationship with Ike rest and how that constantly reignites all the horror scenes in her mind. How strong she had to be to power through all of that and keep pushing for positivity in her life. I now appreciate the music of some of these artists more, now that I know the backstories. PS: Ike was a very sick individual to the very end. I would expect his issues stemmed from shitty parents too. But it is interesting the divergent paths these two took and their views on each other and themselves at the end.
