  1. It's less about the book than ultra MAGA people grooming him for office.
  2. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRv2sjGv/
  3. No, the easy clickbaits are JImbo's hotseat and Arch thinking of transferring. Thats all the write about anymore down here.
  4. Been getting those and a lot of campaigning for 4 by realtors. I've gotten 3 of the same mailer in my little red town from them. Maybe someone can tell me why prop 4 is so important to realtors? Because they figure people will start looking for more expensive homes with this additional tax break?
  5. Do they still make cum gum?
  6. You guys that are in the know: How much do you figure UT spends on security to keep from being spied on? I have to wonder how long they've been sweeping offices for bugs since at least Switzer, Lacewell and Spygate?
  7. I really hope we get to see the dashcam and bodycam footage of Sumlin's stop and arrest.
  8. Or buying goodwill with the voters by using it to cover the gaping holes in things we've defunded, like parks and education.
  9. I agree with Brisket on most of his takes, and I believe Chainsaw has my same dance card. Prop 13 is a Yes for me because someone higher up the food chain told me we had a few really good Dem judges who were about to be retired, and this would allow they keep their benches a few more years. I also had one of them tell me it's no fun going before a judge who is sundowning. So I guess it's a shrug, but I'd be a definite YES if they had added in some types of mental fitness standards. On Prop 6, one of the things the Tribune posted was something about the treatment of fracking water. That gave me pause, thinking maybe it would be a way for O&G to get taxpayers to pay for some environmental obligation of theirs. But the overall promise of the venture outweighs the negative, especially since it seems to have pretty good oversight built in. One of the provisions of Prop 5 is that the to be eligible for this funding not only does the school have to be a state university, but also have a research budget of at least 20M/yr. and graduate at least 45 Phd's for three years running. So at least it sets a standard. I was afraid we'd be sending Baylor a wad of cash to research for proof of creationism over evolution. On Prop 4, the temporary part bothers me. Reminds me of the Trump Tax Plan. Delicious looking icing on a turd. Once the rainy-day fund begins to dwindle, where will the ISDs turn for the shortfall in funding due to their tax base being reduced a couple of years earlier? I'll be interested to see if the Lake Limestone screwup isn't early in the priorities for Prop 14 plans.
  10. The healthcare system is layers of corporations upon more layers all taking a piece of the pie, and we keep voting in people who not only allow this stuff, but actually pass laws that make it easier. To me the fleecing of the middle and lower classes by corporate greed (in all areas) is criminal and the protection of the average citizen from them should be top priority. Democrats should make consumer protection one of their standards. You know there are rich fuckers who are in your misery from cradle to grave, every phase of your life. Selling you the shit that makes you obese, then owning the healthcare and drugs that supposedly treat you, even the assholes who own the funeral homes that dispose of your body. All the while they keep you distracted from how they are picking your pocket with all these diversions about race, gender, age, religion, etc. Harkening back to the conspiracy thread, I don't know if those rich assholes at the top orchestrated it starting centuries ago, or just are living large off the stupidity of humans, but I bet the answer is somewhere in the middle. On the funeral stuff, if you haven't watched The Burial yet, I'd suggest it.
  11. Think I might have been at that show. The one I attended was in the fall of 98 or 99? There used to be an Italian place catty corner to the Parlor that was pretty good. RIght next to Rick's(?) which was a pretty cool piano bar. Long gone now.
  12. I agree. I was half assed in my comment, since that pay raise would be tied to restructured campaign finance and lobbying rules in an effort to get big money out of politics. I know, pie in the sky dreaming. And not the discussion for this thread.
  13. It wasn't a pay raise per se. It was an adjustment to the per diem they can claim while in DC for both food and lodging. Think it came out to about an extra 37K each. I personally think they should be forced to live with the increased costs of living caused by their actions or inactions. On the other hand I think they are paid too little, leaving them susceptible to the lobbyists.
  14. I have a cousin who went to Baylor on scholarship in the 70s, and was a twirler. There's just so much holier than thou, but also we're just better people, since we go to a high dollar private school and you went to a common school. Then when they are losing they shake their heads and ask "what do you expect from little ol Baylor?" When they win, it's practically God's will or something, and you never hear the end of David slaying Goliath. Of course, there's no mention of any of the crap that's transpired there for decades. And that cousin is highly racist and all the members of her family drop the N word with regularity. SMU and Bill Clements and the Pony Express shit was just more of the same, sans God. The methodists aren't as avid as the baptists. TCU were always the cockroaches. Tech, I can remember when they joined the SWC, that never was a rivalry. They were more suited to be Aggies' rival. UH came in with Bill Yeoman and then Jenkins. Those were bad years, but even then we knew they weren't players in the long haul. RIce was the only one I ever respected, they weren't a bunch of insecure douchebags. They knew they were whipping everyone academically, and that was the name of their game. They played the games for the pleasure not the prestige. I do have to say outside the football arena, basketball and baseball will be interesting come the tournaments.
  15. SMU getting over TCU wouldn't surprise me at all. UTSA over Tennessee would be glorious
  16. Reminds me more of Dorsett than Smith.
  17. If it's like Freevee it won't be that bad
  18. Lot of guys have different opinions after the game than before. Maybe doing what you speak of would be better without all the kneejerk emotional comments and seeing actual analysis commentary. The game threads are a beating with the same guys commenting over and over how Ewers, Sark or Worthy suck. Like their waiting for the game to go south so they can say "told you so." You guys did several years back with that one really good analyst. Maybe have a team, some for different analysis and some surly humor tossed in? Do a poll on who surly thinks would be best?
  19. Nobody with Odenkirk is pretty good. It's a pretty good spoof on a certain strain of action movies.
  20. That's why she's still working, to keep the upper hand on that leverage. But I'm wondering at their age if they still have a mortgage. Heck his book sales alone would buy quite a bit.
  21. He has a nice house because he rode public transportation and saved his pennies. But the message has to be dumbed down. 40% if she's a woman of color and on welfare.
  22. That's a good idea. I always thought about planting a few of those raunchy porn paperbacks, but they're hard to find anymore, thanks to the internet. I figured it would give the old biddies in my community something to get up in arms about.
