  1. Right, there are medical issues which can be waived by the team taking him if they choose. So if you're Boston, why not send 2 first rounders to Washington to take on that deal and get KP in the process? A lineup of Smart-Brown-Tatum-KP-Horford is pretty good, certainly better than White-Brown-Tatum-KP-Horford. Edit: Yeah, I guess they move White into the starting lineup, swap Horford for Williams depending on matchup and fill out the bench with whatever. I still think Smart for 18m/19m/20m the next 3 years is great deal for a guy like that. Anyways, I hate Boston, so I hope they all miss a bunch of games and miss the playoffs.
  2. It's so weird that Boston pivoted from Brogdon for KP to Smart for KP. If they found a way to swap Brogdon, Gallinari and Muscala for KP, even for 1-2 FRPs to Washington, they would be in much better position. Losing Smart is going to hurt the team, as he was their best defender and instigator. His offense leaves a lot to be desired, but you would think that he would get fewer shots with KP. I'm guessing this moves Brogdon to starting PG, and the team defense will rely more on Tatum and Brown to play D. Brogdon's injury issues will likely continue, and they will be paying him 22.5m the next 2 years for about 50 games a season. It's going to be even worse if he's recovering from elbow surgery this offseason. That risk is a huge gamble over Smart who has missed some games, but seems to be more reliable over his career. I do think Memphis made out well here. Getting Smart to replace Tyus Jones as the backup PG is pretty good. He has more years of control at a reasonable rate, and he could easily slot into the starting lineup over Bane or when they want to go small. He will add more toughness to their defense, and help with countering some of the offense focused teams like Phoenix. I think the issue with Memphis right now is, who replaces Dillon Brooks at SF? They are over the cap with the current roster at 144m, so I guess they need an MLE guy to fill that gap.
  3. I know this is an anecdote, but everyone I interact with that loves this guy are super right wing conspiracy theorist idiots. None of them have voted democrat this century, and likely will vote for this guy instead of the R nominee if he runs third party. I don't think his presence in the D primary will do what the people funding him think it will do. I think he will highlight the deficiencies in the Republican platform that are at odds with what a lot of these people believe, and they will want to follow this guy instead of the eventual nominee Trump or Desantis. He's not going to be in a debate with Joe Biden, he's not going to win a state primary. His ceiling is Ron Paul, getting some electors due to in-state shenanigans and hoping to disrupt the process. It's all being done so he has a chance to make money off the generous campaign contributions from his "supporters" and to create easy money speaking engagements down the road. He will eventually go away, or maybe die of a drug overdose.
  4. Doctor, please come on my show to debate vaccine efficacy with this guy, who I am told is a Democrat, and very knowledgeable about things and stuff:
  5. Why would you assume Ayton will be moved? Even if he is, they will likely take back a significant amount of salary in the process and spend just about as much. The Bears had a ton of dead money last year, so the guy saying "Bears Payroll" is probably excluding all those guys dead money guys not on the payroll last year. Either way, it's an interesting comparison, entire football teams of 51 players that bring in about twice the revenue of an NBA team cost significantly less overall.
  6. and the NFL pulls in almost twice as much revenue as the NBA. 32 vs 30 teams, but those billionaire owners pocket a lot more money than NBA owners do. No wonder people are willing to pay 6 billion for a team.
  7. I don't understand the trade for Phoenix, other than it gives them something for CP and Shamet, who weren't doing anything for the Suns this season. Turning them into. 200 million dollar liability seems like a poor choice. The upside is that Beal has never had any teammate as talented as KD or Booker, so maybe he turns into an all-star by becoming a third option. If they can get some decent ring chasing vets to help fill out the roster, they might be the second best team in the league. Fuck, see if Harden or Kyrie are willing to take a 1 year paycut and join the bandwagon, it can't hurt. CP has got to be cut and go to LA, right? Clips or Lakers could make sense, but I don't see him going to Miami or Boston to try and get those teams over the hump.
  8. It has to be Ayton for Beal. CP does nothing for Washington, they want to rebuild and the Suns have very few picks to include in a trade. Ayton is young, and someone you might be able to build around in the future. I still don't see what Phoenix would get from swapping those two, Beal isn't exactly known for defense, and him being third banana to KD and Booker seems excessive for a team that really just needs a 3+D guy in the middle of the lineup. If they ship out Ayton, there are some decent veteran Canters to be had for ring chasing.
  9. Probably costs him more than that because he'll be ineligible for All NBA. Ooooo, that's a good point, only 57 games max for him. He won't be eligible for MVP voting either. He has to have some escalators in his contract for those achievements. It might keep him out of the All-star game too, since he will only have about 15-20 games played at that point. I will say I think contrast it's absolutely bullshit that Draymond punching a teammate during an NBA practice doesn't get at least a 5 game suspension from the league. If they are so worried about the image of the league, why isn't a sucker punch assaulting another player deserving of a suspension?
  10. 25 games is a lot, and he's basically on NBA parole now. One more big public fuckup and he's probably out for the season. Jordan selling the Hornets is cool. Hopefully they get someone that actually tries to run a competent organization. The draft is next week and they have the #2 pick, so it will be interesting to see what they do. The Suns new owner went for KD immediately to make a splash, but the ownership had transferred by the time that happened. Maybe MJ will let them have some input on who to draft or if they want to send the pick elsewhere for Beal, Brown, Lavine, KAT or whoever.
  11. It's just like when Goku was training on the Capsule Spaceship, he used a gravity machine to make his training much harder than it needed to be to reach higher power levels. Once he reached planet Namek, which had a much lower level of gravity, he was ready to rock and take down the Ginyu Force, turn Super Saiyan and eventually defeat Frieza. Jokic is basically the NBA equivalent of a Super Saiyan, and now he has all the trophies to show for it.
  12. Runner was fine, bad throw by the catcher. Not sure what the A's are upset about, they don't have any reason to care about winning games.
  13. Seen it a million times, shooters kick their legs out to go for a foul call rather than focusing on making the shot. I can't believe people still fall for this shit and think it's normal. Reggie Miller used to do this, and the NBA made it a foul on the shooter if it's an unnatural shooting motion. Zach Lavine got a flagrant on a similar player earlier this year. Here's the NBA's tutorial on it: https://videorulebook.nba.com/archive/offensive-foul-shooter-extends-leg-unnaturally-into-defender/
  14. You know you can post the video of the incident, right? This isn't a newspaper.
  15. Scott Foster is such a fucking wizard of bullshit
  16. Ugly game so far, neither team can hit a 3, so it's still close. I don't feel like either team is going to come out an dominate.
  17. I think Denver will close it out tonight at home. Miami is just outclassed on every level in this matchup, unless they come up with some brilliant new defense overnight that throws Denver off its game. The last game Miami tried to double Murray and Jokic on most possessions and force Gordon, Porter and Brown to beat them, and they did. It's not a bad strategy, but it gave those other guys tons of open looks from all over the floor, since they had 3 defenders trying to cover 4 guys. Lots of open passing lanes for Murray and Jokic to hit their teammates cutting to the basket for easy layups or pass out to open shooters for 3s. Jokic and Murray both had relatively average games, and they still won by 13 (but probably should have been even more). Ref assignments for tonight:
  18. Not surprising, and a well deserved win for the Nuggets. Winning at home in game 5 will be pretty sweet.
  19. If I'm the Heat, I tell my guys to go at Jokic as hard as they can. Make him foul out, then go at Murray every possession.
  20. lol, wtf is Murray supposed to do there? He got shoulder charged while he's backpedaling.
  21. lol, Scott Foster with 2 quick foul calls on Jokic in the last 30 seconds
  22. They can call it "hug-a-Curry" once they realize he's having a good shooting night. Only 3 assists for Jokic so far tonight, feels like he should have a few more. Was hoping he would get a triple double every game just for the hell of it, but not looking likely at this point without some Westbrook-like shenanigans.
  23. Ughhhh, really needed to get him home there...
