Well, when you realize that you have over $100 million committed to the team next year before you even think of re-signing Wood and Kyrie, I'd look like that too.
Not sure how you can fix this as they look like for a quick 4-0 or 4-1 exit in the first round. Does today's debacle make the Mavs 1-4 when Kyrie + Luka play? and the one win was against the tanking Spurs so that doesn't count.
No they are just legitimately bad.
One of the low key bad trades in recent memory is the Vucevic trade. What a disaster that trade has been for the Bulls. They still suck and they gave up Wendell Carter and a pair of lightly protected first round picks…the first of which turned into Franz Wagner (who is terrific) and the second will be a top 10 pick this year.
And as a result of picking up Vucevic, the Bulls got rid of Lauri Markannen (now an All star) for virtually nothing.
Just a really bleak picture for the Bulls’ future - a single tear runs down my cheek…ha.
I agree with the first part - but maybe not the "easily" part. There are several horrific contracts out there that will be punshing teams for the next several years:
Beal - 5 years, $251 million
Lillard - 5 years, $258 million
Ayton - 4 years, $132 million
Tobias - 2 years, $76 million
KAT - 6 years, almost $300 million
Duncan Robinson - 4 years, $74 million
Bertrans - 3 years, almost $50 million
Hayward - 2 years, $61 million

And this was before tonight’s beatdown in NOLA.
The Cavs will forever be in debt to KPJ. Because KPJ was such an asshole at USC (when Evan Mobley’s dad was staff), the Mobley family made it clear they did not want Evan going to Houston. So KPJ is on Houston (busy making friends there) and the Cavs luck into far and away the best player from that draft class. He’s made a huge leap over the past month and really should be an All Star.
And not only this but before he was famous his family life was unquestionably fucked up.
Never knew his deadbeat criminal father and Gloria was more interested in smoking crack than being a mom so she fostered him (I've always suspected that part of Lebron's enmity towards Steph is just how different his childhood was vs Steph's - that hatchet seems to be buried now though). Fortunately for Lebron, he happened to be blessed with otherwordly talent so that very likely saved him from becoming a statistic - the foster parents cultivated Bron's foray into hoops and the rest is history.
OKC has some really nice pieces.
If Giddey can continue to improve his 3 ball, they can be really really good in a couple years. Houston fans probably would rather not revisit that whole Jalen Green vs Josh Giddey debate from earlier in the season.
And Jalen Williams is a player. I wanted him to fall to Cleveland (but it turns out he would have been traded anyway so it didn’t matter). I was all-in on him and Tari Eason before the draft and both those guys are looking like future stars.
Oh I’m well aware - both are MSU grads but they apparently loathe each other and I think Ishbia has said that his company won’t do business with anybody who works with Quicken Loans.
Petty Dan Gilbert is the best Dan Gilbert.
This would be my concern as well - and Kyrie and Luka lack in athleticism they also lack in effort on the defensive end.
I hope THJ, Wood, and Powell become all world defenders overnight because they'll have to clean up a lot of their mess.
