It was a designated Diplomatic location. Sanctioned by the Syrian Government. That makes it a diplomatic location.

But Israel will. They will push more at Syria and Lebanon proxies.
There could be something else to consider. SA and Jordan helping them means they might have some leverage on Gaza. More aid, let heavy hits, etc. Not saying for sure, but would be nice.

5 minutes ago, bolverk said:Yeah, Israel regained a bit of moral high ground yesterday with the attack, which was demonstrated by Jordan and Iraq closing their airspace and the former assisting in defending them. While Israel could bypass Jordan by flying over Syria, they wouldn't be able to avoid flying over Iraq. It seems that the Israeli Air Force would have the air superiority advantage over both of them; I do think it's a risk, and I also don't know if Russia has any air assets in Syria nor whether they'd intervene in protecting Iran (their ally in the Ukraine war). So, that's a consideration. And that doesn't even take into account the risks of escalation in a direct confrontation between Iran and Israel.
If Israel were able to pull off taking out any nuclear facilities or drone manufacturing operations unscathed and without a lot of collateral damage to civilians while also avoiding a wider regional conflict, okay, sure. I wouldn't squawk too much about it. However, I don't think that's feasible any longer. Iran just demonstrated they have the capacity to hurt Israel if they really wanted to with an even larger drone/missile attack. This is a capability Iran didn't have a couple of decades ago when Israel previously bombed nuke shit there.
Simmer down, oh, control your temper
Simmer down, for the battle will be hotter
Simmer down, can you hear what I say?It would be a hell of a flight if they had to go around the Peninsula and up into the Gulf region.

My thoughts were it would be a show hit, Israel cannot really hit Iran without shit really going up. So the IAF will focus on Syria and Lebanon when they want to do something vs. Proxies.

Interesting. So if we got 70, others even more, how many of the 150 made it any target? Sounds like there is a lot of new scrap metal out there.
US forces intercepted 70+ drones and at least three ballistic missiles, US officials say
From CNN's Oren Liebermann and Haley Britzky
US forces intercepted more than 70 one-way attack drones and at least three ballistic missiles during Iran's attack on Israel, according to two US officials familiar with the situation.
The ballistic missiles were intercepted by warships in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, one of the officials said. Iran launched more than 100 ballistic missiles in total at Israel, according to a senior administration official.
The US Navy currently has two destroyers in that area, both are guided missile destroyers capable of intercepting missile and drone launches.
US fighter jets were also part of the response to Iran’s attack on Saturday and shot down drones launched towards Israel, another US official told CNN.

Thanks for the updates. Glad I did not drop 140+ on it.

Don't have the fight and am at work. Counting on you to keep this thread going.

There is only 1 positive. 150+ drones they cannot give Russia.

That seems like a pretty stupid argument. Is Israel not busy enough that they decided to add payback from 30 years ago to the list?
The story is a bit deeper. The dudes killed in Syria may have been those that ordered it. I am not defending, just pointing out an argument I have seen since 1- the court ruling and 2- the Consulate hit.

They should bomb an Iranian embassy.
Well there is the argument that the Syria consulate hit was pay back for this event.
Argentina court blames Iran for deadly 1994 bombing of Jewish center
Over three decades after deadly attacks in Buenos Aires targeted Israel's embassy and a Jewish center, an Argentine court placed the blame Thursday on Iran and declared it a "terrorist state," according to local media.
The ruling, cited by press reports, said Iran had ordered the attack in 1992 on Israel's embassy and the 1994 attack on the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) Jewish center.
The court also implicated the Iran-backed Shiite movement Hezbollah and called the attack against the AMIA -- the deadliest in Argentina's history -- a "crime against humanity," according to court documents cited by media reports.
"Hezbollah carried out an operation that responded to a political, ideological and revolutionary design under the mandate of a government, of a State," Carlos Mahiques, one of the three judges who issued the decision, told Radio Con Vos, referencing Iran.
In 1992, a bomb attack on the Israeli embassy left 29 dead. Two years later, a truck loaded with explosives drove into the AMIA Jewish center and detonated, leaving 85 dead and 300 injured.

For sure, but the attacks, nonetheless were intended to be more successful than just injuring a 10 year old girl. And the attacks came directly from Iran which is a clear escalation and an act of war. The Israeli response will be interesting.
I don't think it is over. Agree they wanted more. I would not want to be an Iranian operative in Syria or Lebanon right now. If they hit Iran proper that is 1- hard to do and will require our support, 2- lead to more escalation.

Well, they tried a combination attack, the same attacks that have achieved some success by Russia against Ukraine overwhelming Western defense systems.
I think it is a bit different. The IAF is an established air force. Israel has a robust anti-air capacity. And the distances are different. Russia shoots at a lot shorter range. sounding like a lot of the intercepts were before they got to the Israeli border.

One common point coming out is the Officer who shot him is a Hero. Um, she did her job, confronted a maniac and took care of it when he turned on her. Is that her job?

Do you know any Russians? Or any expats with family still there? Unfortunately, broadly the support is real, because the Russian media control is complete. They don’t know any better. Hoping for revolt from within is nonstarter.
Yeah cuz there has never been an internal revolt in Russia. Lenin going back was the catalyst. The revolt had already started.
And I do. Worked with quite a few of them. Have studied the country quite a bit. They are just a larger Serbia with worse booze and food.

Ukraine war: Russian double-tap strikes hit civilians then rescuers too
On the night of 3 April, a swarm of Russian drones attacked Kharkiv, in Ukraine's northeast.
The country's second-largest city has been targeted almost incessantly since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.
But this time was worse than usual, because, when rescue workers arrived at the scene, there was a second strike. Three of them were killed.
The following Friday, it happened again when Russian missiles hit Zaporizhzhia, a major city in Ukraine's southeast.
Rescuers and journalists rushed to the scene, and then two more missiles hit.

Sirens sound in Golan Heights after 25 projectiles fired from Lebanon, Israeli military says
From CNN's Tamar Michaelis in Jerusalem and Benjamin Brown in London
Sirens have sounded in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights as around 25 projectiles were fired from Lebanon, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The IDF said sirens sounded in the settlements of Ortal and Sha'al early Sunday. That came after Iran attacked Israel with drones, cruise and ballistic missiles.
It did not specify the type of projectiles fired, or whether they were intercepted.
Earlier Sunday, a barrage of at least 10 rockets was fired from Lebanon towards Israel, an Israeli military spokesperson told CNN.
Sirens sounded in the Upper Galilee region of northern Israel due to the rocket fire, the IDF said in a statement.
On Friday, around 40 rockets were fired at Israel from southern Lebanon, according to the IDF. Lebanon's Iran-backed Hezbollah militants said they had fired the rockets at Israeli artillery positions in response to recent Israeli attacks and in support of Palestinian people in Gaza.

So how do they do it? Those drones are slow and can only fly in a straight line so do the fighter jets just sneak up behind and shoot them with their gun?
