  1. Rams want to make this fun for us.
  2. Yes it is.... And in TNF fashion, we get another wonderful game next week.
  3. Yeah, they do, raping and pillaging as they go, from Panama to the US Border (and then some more on this side.)
  4. One rule during the 1980's was for every Central or South American who made it one Mexican did not cross over. So they were a lot more involved in protecting their border and the routes.
  5. Um, you said 1970's and 1980's in CENTRAL AMERICA. We are not getting floods of Bolivians or Chileans. There is one regime changing in that region during that period and that is Nicaragua. Most people on your list from Latin America are dead Sir. Well maybe Haiti, but no one gives a fuck about them in this hemisphere. So your point is to say the US was bad in 1911, therefore.... Well shit, we had a Diplomat in Sarajevo AND in Vienna, guess we are responsible for WW1.
  6. Shit, we thought they got you and were keeping the wreath fund in case. Of course we were going to launch a rescue mission first.
  7. No we did not. We broke it in the 1990's when we deported all the young salvadoran, honduran and guatemelan men who got to live in the US, were disconnected from their societies, and that is where the Mara's were born. I am sure you read at a book at UT, but I happened to grow up in Central America, remain close to the community, and watch it closely. And just curious, what regimes did we change in Central America in the 1970-s and 1980's that were in our favor? I would say maybe the election of Arena in 1988, El Salvador, who then went on to sign peace accords, AND lost the next election tot he FMLN.
  8. High school was so damn easy compared to college and her finding out she could be independent, move 1500 miles away and flip me and her brother off. Granted, her brother was kind of a dick, but he was there when she needed him. And it was him who was cut off from his mom, not the daughter. Still sucks not to watch Peanuts with her on Christmas.
  9. He gets a scholarship and she gets a lawsuit.
  10. There are plenty of non-republican groups in Central America saying it is. There are lots of uncles, aunts, sisters, brothers saying hey, this is how you do it. We will send you the cash. This is an economic issue in developing nations more than our border. And the numbers alone should tell you how bad it is.
  11. Expected the score to be higher. But fun game. Bowl game does not look fun and I can catch it later on ESPN.
  12. No one is denying there is a problem on this thread.
  13. No they have been, just not these numbers. Remember the Central America refugees in the 1980's? It established them here. And as noted, a lot of US Citizens are morons. ERCOT says hold my beer.
  14. Sucks to settle for a kick on that drive.
  15. Should be a fun game. Better than the bowl game on tonight.
  16. Congrats @Celery Man! Only comparison I have is a flight with both kids (2 and 5) from Houston to Dubai via Amsterdam. Plane starts taxiing. Wife complained about being tired so she takes an empty seat about 6 rows in front. Son is real excited, so he is no problem. Daughter looks at me as we start the taxi and says Daddy, and proceeds to throw up all over my lap. Well of course our flight gets delayed and we are sitting on the ground, so sitting there in puke covered pants and cannot get up. Flight Attendant felt bad for me, did what she could (hot towels, water for the kiddo, etc.) but damn. All I could think about was landing in Amsterdam and getting a new pair of pants. Yeah, we traveled with extra shirts, but not pants. Until that day. Fuck it, still worth it!
  17. My thoughts are there are no more to hand over or their conditions are really bad. And don't see Bibi ending anytime soon. Slow movement to the south to force Egypt to open the borders. Interesting approach is make Gaza an Arab problem. Hamas, the group which controls the Gaza Strip, has ruled out any more hostage releases until Israel agrees to a "full cessation of aggression". Israel says it has killed more than 2,000 Hamas fighters in Gaza since a truce earlier this month when more than 100 hostages were freed. Around 120 people abducted from Israel on 7 October are believed to be still in captivity in Gaza. Efforts continue at the United Nations to pass a resolution on the war. The US has said it still has serious concerns over the draft UN Security Council resolution, with voting now postponed to Friday. The week-long truce this month also brought an increased flow of aid into Gaza where the UN has warned that the population is at risk of famine if the war between Israel and Hamas continues. Negotiations on a new truce have been taking place in Cairo, Egypt, though initial talks on Wednesday bore no agreement. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-67797747
  18. So what is the solution? I am serious. This issue is very important and is going to have demographic impacts on both sides. I would love to see processing points in Central America, Colombia, etc, where people could apply and await decision. We fly back illegals all the time. Those planes come back empty. If you have a family in the US who can show they can support, well you go to the front of the line. If you can prove your life is in danger due tot eh violence, you are #2. Five year probation, you have to stay in contact and be part of society, which most are for sure. If you fuck up, well you go home. Your kids born in the US can appeal for you to come up when they turn 18. While young, their care is a major issue. Our policy should focus on Latin America, and yes, that includes Haiti. The EU can handle Africa and the Middle East. Not perfect, but a start. We wrote the deployment center about 15 years ago for a think tank. No one in DC would consider it. Our take was well we built secure bases all over the region that now are unused or secure zones under the controls of the governments. Process people there. Save them the risk and costs with the Mexico Trek and let CBP focus on real risks.
  19. Hang in there @Brisketexan Last few years have been rough with my daughter. Do not know if I will see her over the holidays at all. Distance helps, but her mom still puts on tremendous pressure on the daughter, blaming me for the divorce, etc. Mom's family has money, my career took a hit during Covid and is still recovering so I do what I can, but it is never enough. Son to avoid turmoil goes to his GF's family retreat and they have a great time. I am thankful for that.
  20. Getting laid and your dog attacks you. An American XL Bully attacked its owner as he was having sex, a court heard. The two-year-old dog named Hank bit Scott Thurston, 32, at his home in Glanaman, Carmarthenshire, on 2 August. Llanelli Magistrates heard his partner Leanne Bell called police to Jones Terrace in the early hours of the morning. An order was made that the dog be destroyed, however, it will not be for at least 28 days pending any possible appeals. Body cam footage shot by officers showed them arriving at the property, and Mr Thurston can be heard trying to muzzle the dog in the garden. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-67793696
