  1. I'm about to start a new job. I have my existing 401K that I can either leave in the 401K at my soon-to-be ex-employer, roll to the new 401k, or roll it to an IRA. My current 401K has some under performing target date options but does have the Fidelity S&P 500 (FXAIX) which I have always have 100% of my retirement in. I've been gruntled with the returns. However, as I get down to my last 8 years of working with a planned retirement age of 59 1/2, I want some more flexible investment options as I near the finish line that an IRA would provide. Are there any reasons NOT to roll it to an IRA? I'll never need a loan or an early withdrawal like you can do in a 401K. Are there any pre or post retirement disadvantages to an IRA versus a 401k?
  2. Saw a few YouTube car channel videos about the coming pickup truck Armageddon. Dodge can't even sell trucks at all. The average Dodge price was over $85,000 with probably half of them over $100,000. Ford wasn't far behind. Chevy seemed be the best priced but you were still looking at $60,000 for a trim level that would've been considered a $30,000 fleet vehicle 5 years ago. The dealers are keeping them on the lot instead of discounting them because they have to incur that loss when they do. Until then it's just on paper, so they're kicking that can down the road as long as they can.
  3. I think I’ve posted it before, but I like to riff on the Full English and make a Full Texan breakfast. My last version was: Smoked sausage link Bacon Chorizo Migas Skillet potatoes Refried beans Grilled jalapeños Tortillas Texas toast It did not suck.
  4. The nerds at the 4:00 mark are complete idiots. Jesus. Just the worst Star Wars fans beyond our resident Ewok fucker.
  5. I wonder how many didn't even know it was Epstein's plane? He often wasn't on the plane with a lot of the passengers and he seemed to lend it out to big wigs the same way BMD's do for athletic departments doing coaching searches. If someone was tagging along with other big wigs on the plane and the destination wasn't to Pedo Island or his sex dungeon in NY, I'd probably give them benefit of the doubt.
  6. My Global Entry is expiring in March so I submitted a renewal application yesterday. Got approval today that I'm good to go. No interview needed. Less than a 24 hour turnaround. Nice service there, federal government bureaucracy.
  7. Where is RCRanger when we need him?
  8. There's some local foods but it's 90% American bar food. If you're on St Thomas, hit Glady's Cafe for local cuisine.
  9. In my first job, the director above my direct manager didn't know I existed. I was at a meeting with him once and he asked what I did for the company. His peer director said, "Steve, he works for you." An hour later, he walked in and gave me a mid-year pay raise. Unfortunately, that was the only time in 25 years, that has happened.
  10. One thing I try to instill in my kids is that if you can't do the right thing when people are looking, how are you going to make the hard decision to do the right thing when no one is looking. This was an easy case of doing to the right thing when people were looking and you failed. I'd take away your electronics for a week and march you back to Costco and give them the $400 back.
  11. There wouldn't be jihadists in the world if everybody could just get laid on occasion. There's a reason why the 72 virgins is the carrot to get incels to kill themselves.
  12. Does his head split open? Two lines of blood appear on the pavement when he hits the ground.
  13. Start early. Especially if you're looking out of state. We did our first tours in OCT of my kid's sophomore year and quite honestly, I feel we are running out of time to get many more in. For us, fall is a wash because of high school volleyball taking up every FRI night so a weekend trip is out of the question. We did miss a match to make that trip to Colorado to tour CU, CSU, and Mines as sophomore because it also coincided with a Monday district day off. I didn't feel like we could it again this year with her being on varsity and the coach being pissy about missing games. Also, official tours don't happen every day and Saturday tour dates are hit and miss. There are usually no tours on spring break or other holidays so you need to miss school or go during the summer. Our summer is already pretty booked but we are going to try to squeeze in a trip to the University of Vermont the day after AISD lets out.
  14. This has always been my favorite guitar solo. Starts at 2:56 and goes for a solid 3 minutes.
  15. I would just cut off Texans from traveling in the US for a decade following secession.
  16. I wonder. I don’t know the 3rd brother’s name.
  17. Washington has twice the yards and twice the time of possession. It’s amazing we aren’t behind by 4 TDs. Yet.
  18. I see Tuan Nguyen with Seton/Ascension. He does have one or two days in the north Seton location up on Research. He has an interesting story. His dad died of a heart attack when he was little. So, he and his two brothers became cardiologists. They’re the only 3 brothers known to have all become cardiologists. His brother Vu is in the same practice.
  19. I’ve only seen the original series. Are any of the spin-offs worth watching?
