Texas Women's Soccer

Regardless of the coach, would they have enough support to be top 10 in soccer on a consistent basis?  Our facility is ad hoc.  We hardly ever fill it up.  Most students don’t care about soccer.   It occupies a space as an afterthought.  So why would one of the best coaches come here?   Coin? Sure.  But they can make the same coin where they are.

What!? Women's sports in Austin TX..Any good women's coach will be able to recruit at the highest of levels. You have to win. Consistently. Find the right leader. wSoccer is a sleeping giant here. Parking issues will never go away but crowd size/enthusiasm will not determine success of the program.

From some legit programs too

Justus looks like a really good GK and was #1 in the 2021 class.

Allen was #9 ranked recruit in 2020. 35 career starts for UNC in 3 seasons. Only played in 9 contests this year, started 33 her first 2 seasons

The Irish gal started 33 matches in 2 seasons at BC

And the Auburn transfer has started 53 contests in 3 seasons and was the #26 recruit in 2020 class)

15th in preseason poll

TCU 9th, BYU 13th, UCF 24th, SMU RV

3 ranked teams all year and 1 receiving votes. 3/4 game at home - we do go to UCF on October 5

Seems fair?

Isn't almost the entire team returning from last year that made the 2nd round? I guessed above they would be ranked in the top 15 and it looks like people agree.

Yeah. Wasn’t disputing it. Easy schedule too. If we still can’t get to the third round, boot her ass to the curb

Definitely but seems like the same problem as last year. Based on how shitty the schedule is, they probably won't be hosting more than 1 game in the postseason.

I don't know why the head coach hasn't learned to schedule tougher in non-conference. It's going to take an incredible record to host past the first round based on RPI.

Season opener tonight against LBSU. Hopefully Angela Kelly and co. can kick off the season on the right foot with a win.

Texas, even without EmJ Cox, has 3 players in Top Drawer's 2023 Top Players and 2 on their Big 12 Preseason team:

Trinity Byars (#2) Preseason Big 12 First Team
Lexi Missimo (#16) - Preseason Big 12 Second Team
Jilly Shimkin (#75)

BYU was the only Big 12 team with more players in the top 75 (4), but Texas had the two highest ranked players in the conference and the only ones in the top 25. BYU has 2 on the Big 12 Third Team

Commentator mentioned that first goal by LBSU was the fastest scored goal in their program's history. We're very fortunate to escape with a win.

Usually in the Kelly era, we give up late goals to lose. Maybe we reverse that - give up an early goal, score late to win

that was pretty lackluster on defense.  they were getting beat down the field the whole first half.  the refs did screw us.  makes you wonder if the conf bigwigs didnt grease some palms to make this a miserable year for us in all sports.  that penalty kick was bullshit, and the penalty that took away our goal was nonexistent.

They're definitely trying to figure things out in the back after the Cox injury.

The LSU result was still frustrating because of the refs. Should have been a 2-2 result. They disallowed a goal that clearly wasn't a foul and then gave LSU a PK on ticky-tacky call.

Did anybody see if one of the assistants was ejected in that game? I think one of the male assistants got ejected in the 2nd half.
