If Sark and co. have this class nailed down by the beginning of September, nerd shit may be the only way we get to 1000 pages.

I can take cheese puns,  chicken fried steak,  geography,  best western movies....  but "nerd shit" might put me on hold till NSD1.

At the rate we are going we might not hit 500. Which is cool if the reason we don’t hit 500 is because we basically have 24 guys locked up. H 8/1/2022 and we are just fucking around trying to reel in a random 5 star or two.

Those random 5 stars can really increase the page count.

From the sound of things, Campbell and Williams may be battling it out at the RT spot in camp. Jones needs to move inside or to the bench. Our best line may well be Banks, Angilau, Majors, Campbell, Williams.

starting 3 true freshman on an OL? ...what could possibly go wrong!

growing pains but a much better line than last year? With the weapons we've added this off-season it could go a long way to help the line....A QB that seems to know what to do and not hold onto a ball will also help so will not throwing lame duck passes like Thompson did.

Texas Longhorns: Who could be next to commit

Gerry Hamilton•6 minutes

Derion Gullette and Ramonce Taylor. (Gerry Hamilton/On3)

The Texas Longhorns No. 3 ranked recruiting class has the chance to keep ascending in the next couple of weeks with a number of prospects that could make decisions.

A position that could come into focus the first couple of weeks of July is EDGE, and defensive line. Pass rush prospects is a true position of need in the 2023 cycle, and some decisions by targets at the top of the board could be just days away.

Inside Texas takes a look at five prospects that could commit in the near future.

Derion Gullette

On3 Consensus 4-star EDGE/LB Derion Gullette is a prospect that could make a decision in the next couple of weeks. The Longhorns have been trending since the June official visit, and leading up to the visit according to a source close to the recruitment. Oklahoma showed very well during an early June official visit, and seriously entered the mix. But it’s Texas and Texas A&M where the decision has been ultimately expected to come from. Ohio State and Alabama remain on the peripheral.

Jaquaize Pettaway

The Houston area playmaker is expected to announce his decision this week between Oklahoma and Texas. The No. 62 ranked prospect in the On3 Consensus has been talked about more as an Oklahoma lean since the spring, and following June official visits to Oklahoma and Texas. The smaller atmosphere in Norman, and a very strong relationship with Sooners assistant Cale Gundy being the main reason. With that said, Pettaway has also built a strong relationship with Texas wide receivers coach Brennan Marion.

Hunter Osborne

The No. 108 ranked prospect in the On3 Consensus ranking is a battle that could be coming to an end sooner than the originally planned late August timeline. Texas has been making headway since the June official visit. Clemson was the favorite of Osborne, but maybe not the favorite in the circle. Tennessee could still win out due to proximity. This recruitment is one that could go a number of directions. One source Tuesday morning thought Tennessee could potentially win out as a compromise with distance from home being a key factor.

Braylan Shelby

Shelby, No. 186 in the On3 Consensus, is in the process of making a decision. That decisions continues to be between USC and Texas. Should the 6-foot-5, 235-pounder wait until early August to make a decision, a last weekend in July visit to Texas A&M would be a possibility. Shelby had all his questions about life as a student, and academically answered by Steve Sarkisian and staff at the June official visit. USC and Los Angeles have continued to be strong in Shelby’s mind since a spring unofficial visit.

Colton Vasek

The On3 Consensus 4-star EDGE prospect is another that could announce a decision in the next couple of weeks. The two schools mentioned most around the Vasek recruitment of late have been Oregon and Texas. The limbo the Ducks are currently in only helps the Longhorns, who are riding a Banzi Pipeline sized wave of momentum. Vasek’s decision will in part come down to the desire to be somewhere different and do something different for college.

Hope you enjoyed your time here while it lasted!

hey i have no problem if they are 3 of the best 5 OL we have but yeesh.

that says a ton about the prior classes (which had a lot of shit in them) as well as the ability of coaching staff to develop a lot of these dudes that were at least on campus last year. Banks / Angilau / Majors / Campbell / Williams means that there is even more dead weight on the roster than we though.

If they’re your best 3 linemen what do you propose? Playing inferior players because they’re upperclassman ?

I mean, both sides of this argument are right. If a true freshman is outperforming an incumbent they should get the PT, obviously. However, were Texas to start three true freshman OL, the results would probably be wildly inconsistent at best.

That is probably going to be the case with the OL this year anyway just given where the room is at, even with last years recruiting haul. The sooner people internalize that and adjust expectations appropriately, the better.
