Tossing it here since its recruiting related RE playing time, but also posted in the 995er thread that the NCAA is granting a one time waiver for bowl games to not affect redshirt status. With that said, here is a look at https://twitter.com/josephcook89 Red Shirt tracker, updated for the bowl game. Additionally, no one currently with the program is at risk of burning a shirt, so everyone should get some playing time.

The double negative here has me a little confused…

Texas has big opportunity to add to 2023 class this weekend

— Jelani McDonald will be in this week and set an announcement for the All-American Bowl on January 7. Texas has the chance to make the last impression before the NCAA Dead Period goes into effect on Sunday. Over the last month, TCU has had all the steam in the recruitment, but the Horned Frogs might be filling up in their class. The Longhorns have commitments from four linebackers already with last night's addition of Anthony Hill, but there's a lot of versatility within that group. McDonald is full of versatility himself and could fit at a few different positions. Oklahoma State is back in the picture for him, but Texas has the best chance to close this weekend.

— Mableton (GA) Pebblebrook defensive back Tyler Scott will also be in town for his latest visit. The rising prospect has been to Auburn, Alabama, and USC previously. Texas will get a shot at him and will need to do some work. Alabama made a big impression on him, but Tashard Choice and Terry Joseph have been able to build some good relationships there. We won't really have a clear read on Scott until after the visit, but there is some optimism from the Texas staff they can become a player.

— North Crowley tight end Ka'Morreun Pimpton decided late in the week to take a visit to Texas. The massive Top247 prospect has been committed to Vanderbilt since the summer. Pimpton visited LSU last week, but there hasn't been a ton of buzz on the Tigers for him. Texas has a chance, but his commitment to Vanderbilt is incredibly solid at the moment. The Commodores have been able to do a good job solidifying that relationship and presenting the academic opportunities available to him.

— Texas commit Payton Kirkland will also be in on his official visit. he's the last commit in the class to take one. Transfer defensive back Gavin Holmes is supposed to be in as well but the staff is still working out the details. There is some thought that a strong visit this weekend could close the deal for Texas.
