My personal "preference" is to rotate ONE of the dice by one side before I throw and whatever is topside is whatever it is.  It takes 0.2 seconds and I'm not sure how many people even notice.  I don't care what's showing but if I "stumble" on the rotation...meaning the dice fall funny in my hands or something while I pick them up...I start the whole sequence over.  It's like when someone takes a cell phone picture of Tiger in his backswing.

Now, I really don't care for the shooters that go through those meticulous 30-40 second "adjustments" before they throw the dice...but at the table I described a few posts up from back in April...the awesome shooter guy next to me had a solid 5-10 second routine each time before he threw the dice and clearly I'm a fan of his work.

Sorry, I;m behind in the thread.

I can't believe the dealers allow that. Faster rolls = more gambling = more money for the casino.

I distinctly remember at least two times playing craps when the stickman told the shooter to quit screwing around and throw the dice.

God bless those dealers.  When shooters take longer than your average MLB player preparing to face a pitch, it’s fucking ridiculous and they should be cunt-punted to the moon.

If you had any influence on the outcome, it wouldn’t require an extra 20 seconds.

So I'm a novice on craps and playing online before a tip to Vegas in a few weeks...  If following the HG method, the come out roll is a 10 and i put down bets on the 6,8 and 9.  Several rolls later, the 9 hits and there is another come our roll that is a 4. Do I leave the bets on 6,8 and 9 and keep following "the schedule" or do I also also then place a bet on the 5?

Stay on 9, follow the schedule, don’t bet the 5. We’re indifferent to Come bets

another stupid question that isn't clear - are you only playing the inside numbers with this method? If the come out roll is an 8 (or a 6), do you only put down 2 bets - 5 and 6 (or 8 and 9) and not a 3rd bet on the 4 (or 11?) I assume this is the case since neither the 4 or 11 is on the "schedule"...

If the point is 8, we play 5 6 9
If the point is 6 we play 5 8 9

We always make three bets, on 3 of the four inside numbers: 5, 6, 8, 9

We never bet 4 or 10. The house edge is too high on those two

If the point is 4 or 10, we “hug” that number, so 568 for 4 or 689 for 10. We actually prefer these rolls, because the house has the least edge on 6/8 and we get to play both.

FYI for noobs like me,  “Aw Craps!” is a decent $2 iOS Craps game to practice or brush up (saw it recommended on a Reddit thread). I play so infrequently that I forget even the basics between trips.

The game has different options for table odds/minimums, detailed info on bets, and allows manual manipulation of dice rolls if you want to simulate an outcome.  Good way to practice any method before hitting the tables.

Based entirely on superstition, I will move the 9 to the 5.  Still just 3 bets.  Odds are the same, I just like my bets to look like they're all together.  They're luckier that way.

*i am assuming you mean that a 10 hits?

honestly it depends on what happened during those several rolls, how "hot" the table might be getting, how your bankroll is, what the table minimum is, etc.

if you haven't hit a number yet, i would stand pat.  if you want to move the 9 to the 5, you can, it's just superstition at that point.  but if a couple numbers have been hit, or you've pressed (and not collected) i would probably throw $10 on the 5 and have a 4th bet, positioning you up for a potential nice roll and not really extending your exposure.

if you can press and hit a couple, you'll eventually be on a 4th number, and then eventually on all 6 numbers - that's the long game.  but you always want to use winnings to make those bets, not extend from your rack.

Can you used notes/write numbers on your hand for use at the craps table? Trying to teach the wife a betting schedule on when to press and numbers aren't her thing as math is hard...  :)

sure you can. Put it on an index card. You can also take a blackjack strategy cheatsheet to the BJ table.

Yeah, that's not as uncommon as you might think.  Every once in a while, you see folks tracking every roll of the dice with a pad and pen.  Betting formulas/ strategies are 100% OK too.

I really like my approach for keeping track where you are in the strategy

The table usually has two parallel rails for you to store your chips. Keep your chips in the rail closer to you.

When you start (phase1) put 2 $1 chips on the rail above, splitting the section into thirds. When you hit your first number, take one down and full collect. when you hit the second, take the second one down and full collect.

Now phase 2
You are starting with an empty rail from phase 1. When you hit one of your 3 numbers, put a $1 chip either far left, center, or far right, depending on which number you hit. Ie if your numbers are 689, a 6 would go far left, an 8 would go center and a 9 would go far right. Now tell the dealer you want a full press.

Repeat this and when you hit a specific number a second time in phase 2, place a second $1 chip on top of the first, again telling the dealer full press.

Repeat the process again, likely building 1 or two chips on your other two numbers as well.

Finally, when you hit a specific number a third time, take down those two $1 chips, tell the dealer same bet and take your winnings from that roll. Start the phase 2 process all over again for that number, though now you’ll be starting with a much higher base for it. This is when shit gets real

When the shooter rolls a 7, take it all down and reset for phase 1 with your two $1 chips splitting the rail into thirds. I set them this way so that no matter how much I’ve been drinking, their placement tells me I am in phase 1 and not phase 2

Played for first time on the new glass/ plastic topped tables at Inn of the Mountain Gods in Ruidoso, NM. I liked that the true randomness of dice is preserved.

Did not like waiting for betting cycle to close when 3 of us were players and we all knew how to make our bets.  It would still take like 10 more seconds to count down for each shot. Wish the dealer had a ‘go’ button when everyone was set.

I could see the timer being a benefit on a crowded table.  We’re not waiting on your slow betting ass.

It was a bit clunky. I did miss the exchange of checks at the table, but payout was super easy at the machines instead of having to wait for the line at the cage. Overall, I liked it that craps is available virtually all day at a smaller casino, as they can man it with a single dealer.

It was a bit unusual to me that they also had the electronic craps with the little bouncy dice too; now that the other option is available.

By tub table, do they mean the just the super short ones like the one in the picture?  Notice there is only one layout of place numbers, not the usual set on each side of the hardways/ horn bets in the middle. Even on the shorter 'regular' tables there are 3 slots in the rail next to stick before the table curves around.

That table above is for 6-8 players right?  Not much elbow room...

I do applaud the removal of the (idiotic) Big 6 and 8 bets.

Yeah there has to be something with regards to the wording of tub table. Perhaps that tweet wasn’t entirely accurate. Maybe they meant the shorter table which has only one dealer for about 6 players total. Google search shows results that talks about different table sizes and setups but doesn’t seem to dig into the definition of tub table.

Silver Sevens is an interesting old school feel casino a few blocks east of the Strip. I went over there a few years ago to make a sports bet to get better odds. For the Masters, I got Sergio Garcia at 35/1 at Silver Sevens when on the Strip I think it was 30/1. And I won that one which was pretty cool.

CSB alert

I saw something like that happen years ago at the Downtown Binion's.  Dice got stuck in the dealers apron they used to wear and no one could find it.  Stopped the game for a while as they tried to find the missing dice.

Broke my heart when they got rid of Craps at Binion's.  Used to be greatness.

You never realize you're in the golden age until it goes away. We did a buddies trip in 2007, maybe 2008. 8 guys. The Casino Royale on the strip still had a tub table, and we managed to snag every seat. $2 minimums with 3x odds if you wanted to play low stakes, $5 min unlocked 20x odds (or maybe 100x). We played for 12 hours straight.

During that same timeframe, you could pretty regularly find $2/2x tables (the others at the CR were this, but also at the IP and Stratosphere), and $5/345x tables were everywhere.  Man, those were good times.

worst throw i ever saw was right of stick shooting with her right hand (rookie move) and flung both dice in unison into the chip rack of the guy left of stick.

it was like a fucking magic trick.

15 minute break in the Wynn poker tournament, so I set down $500 on the nearest craps table and pick up the dice. Put $18 on the bonus ($15 for me, $3 for dealers). Hit two points while also playing HG and roll every fucking number. Color up after 20 minutes with my $1500 profit and head back to tourney

Second time I’ve hit the All this trip!

First Vegas trip in a couple years, there are way more of those “bubble craps” machines at Aria than there used to be. They must be getting popular as a way to get the low rollers off the tables.

If they had 20x odds on the bubble games and 3-4-5X on the tables, I'd never play at the tables.

Of course that ain't happening any time soon.

IDGAF how the dice get launched, and I don't have to wait for douchebag shooter to put their mojo on the dice. See also: no late fucking bets

Yeah I lost $100 on one of the machines and it only allowed 2X odds no matter what the point was. That was bullshit.

So then I went and played on a $15 table while I waited for Best Friend to open and lost another $200 playing the HG method. Point, seven, repeat. Aggravating.

damned near 4 months since a post in this thread, well here's a little trip report.

At Vegas and went to multiple properties only to find $25min across the board. Ddidn't really play all afternoon.  We went to Fremont last night and my buddy suggested Circa.  I was not expecting a badass property like that downtown.  The hotass go-go dancers and the stadium seating sports book took the fun factor to "wow!" for me.

Found $15 table and stayed even for about an hour and then boom! burned through $500 like nothing.  Piddled around and finally went and got $300 from ATM which is cardinal sin, I know.  Fuck it, I wanted to play.  Promptly earned my $500 back and cashed out with $750.  Then we fucked around on Fremont and took in the people watching horseshit for a while.

Got back to Bally's( not my choice, but room is decent. Found a $15 table and played until midnight. Went to room up $600 for evening.

Woke up at 5AM local and couldn't go back to sleep.  Fuck it.  i walked over to Caesars and main table was $15.  Bought in for $200 and cashed out for $560.  Nice little run starting to evolve.  Some buddies wanted to eat breakfast at Bellagio so I cruise over there to find $15 table, but I was only shooter.  I got up early and pressed the hell outta my numbers, with $150 per spot when I finally 7-ed out.  All said, i'm up right at $4k for the trip.

The $25 tables suck for getting started, but wholly furk when you get some momentum, that's a big hammer to swing!

If you stayed at Ballys, easy walk to Ellis Island and it’s $5 craps FYI

I really was glad we went to Fremont last night.  We had a blast.

probably going with a buddy to Cosmo tonight since I've never been there.  I know at first i had sticker shock on the 425 tables, but now, I'm pretty much, "Fuck it.  let's have fun."
