Hard to believe it could be better.  couldn't they remake Backdraft or some shit?

I wonder if they'll go back to Italian mobster or keep it Cuban?

Or update it and make it Mexican narcos kind of thing.

set in LA.  gotta be mescan.

Michael B. Jordan has been cast as Tony.
And we all know how his drug dealing turned out in The Wire.

They did, but it went horribly wrong, and they cast Kevin James and Adam Sandler in it.

Well... shit. Got my hopes up with Coen brothers then drop a giant turd on it.

I’d like to see oscar isaac take a stab at it.

I don't get why they need to try and make this a reboot. Scarface is a classic as far as drug movies go, but there are so many of them now. They are just like leeches trying to suck success out of a classic name. Chances are it will be just another generic drug movie, but maybe better than average. What's next, a Die Hard reboot?

cuban actor playing an italian mobster

If the Coens are involved, I'm in.  From Blood Simple to Buster Scruggs, there is just something special about their work product and casting choices.  And besides, we're dyin' out here at tha leek.

Have you been paying attention to Hollywood for the past 20 years?

This one is already the reboot of the reboot.

Yup. And unpopular opinion: al pacino’s scarface is wayyy fucking overrated. And it holds up horribly

I tend to agree but they practically show it on a loop on Starz and it’s still hard to lay off of. It’s hard to imagine doing enough cocaine to sit in a club watching Octavio the clown though

also the hit men at the club made the idiots who tried to take out Lalo look like crack professionals

It's overrated by teenagers, guys who know how much they bench press, and wanna-be thugs.

The de Palma Scarface is a perfectly fine Saturday afternoon lose the remote while folding laundry movie,  but let’s not act like it Sunset Boulevard.  I’m fine with the Coen Brothers taking a crack at it.

Scarface is great.  So many great one liners!

Well, hopefully they will actually get Hispanic actors, instead of having Robert Loggia, F. Murray Abraham, Pacino, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Paul Shenar, etc. play Cubans...

I challenge you to find a better montage that perfectly encapsulates the 80s era of movies

this is just off the top of my head.  i'm sure there are others.

it's a cheeseball 80's gangster movie, it's not some all-time classic that belongs in conversations with the godfather and goodfellas.

after i posted, i googled "best 80's movies montages" and these were all on there, along with scarface.

also a couple great ones:

rocky 4, karate kid and teen wolf are the first ones that came to mind.

great is a fairly loose term. Scarface was garbage and montage is the 2nd worst thing the Russians ever gave us

Edited by Michael Knight

I missed the first 40% of the decade, so I’m admittedly informed by stuff like Vice City.

Any talk of montages must include Rocky movies, and the first Rocky movie of the 80's was Rocky III.
