I am finding Peacemaker hilarious.  It's like Deadpool if Deadpool were mostly incompetent.  Vigilante is some kind of Deadpool/Kick Ass rip off, though.  Not digging him yet.

Three points:

- The opening credits are legendary.  I won't skip credits ever.

- The blonde I'd never seen before, I thought.  Then looked her up and she is in one of those later stage American Pie direct to video sequels.  Feel free to find the right scene.....

- I am finding the music hilarious.  Each awful wannabe hair metal song that none of us have ever heard comes on, and it's like "What fresh hell is this?"  I presumed they made the songs up for the show, but when you Shazam it, for the most part they are '80s hair metal rip offs that have come out in the last decade.  It's for real.  It's horrible.  And it's perfect for this show.

My son is 16. I'm pretty much comfortable watching just about anything short of hard core pornography with him.

My boy is 12 and growing up fast, so I might feel the same when he's 16. No way I'm watching it with the 15 year old daughter though if there are going to be more scenes of John Cena railing skanks in the dive bar bathroom.

I just signed up for the HBO Max free trial through Youtube TV just to watch Station 11, and it's not coming up in the list of shows to add.  Everything else is there, like The Leftovers, The Wire, Euphoria, basically everything else.  Anybody else run their HBO Max through Youtube TV and experiencing the same thing?

Catherine the Great.  After watching The Great, this is a more grounded realistic version.  It's not great (haha) but its watchable.  4 parts about an hour each.

Yeah, it was fine, I just didn't buy Helen Mirren as Catherine the Great early on because she was playing a 35 year old (I think the show started off in 1762).

Also Mirren was like 74 when this aired (2019) and Catherine died at 67.

A much better portrayal is the Russian series Ekaterina - all 3 seasons (so far) are on Amazon Prime.

You can tell Gilded Age has been in purgatory and was originally written to be an NBC show.   It appears to be a homeless man’s version of Downton Abbey without the wit (which is probably to be expected) but also without the drama/tension and any examination of the lower classes’ and servants’ plight, which is pretty bizarre.

When the British show about tranquil countryside manors has way more exciting plot points and pays more attention to class inequality than an American show about rapidly industrializing New York City in the freaking gilded age, something has gone really wrong.  I was expecting Downton Abbey meets corruption, murder and mayhem, and exploitation of the underclasses, where the high society ladies looking down on the nouveau riche ladies was a small element as opposed to the entire show.

That's disappointing to hear.  I didn't realize this was already out, but I was hoping it would scratch that Downton Abbey itch.

Disappointed to hear that.  Enjoyed Downton but the trailer for Gilded Age didn't strike me

I don't think it will be on Downton's level, it's also only one episode.

Did the Gilded Age thread get zapped? I remember the Surly New Yorkers were pretty worked up over the trailer.

I’m watching the premiere now. It’s beautifully shot. We’ll see if the cast can be a middle class man’s Downton Abbey.

HBO placing it on Mondays could be a reflection of their confidence in the show.

Sunday has Euphoria and Righteous Gemstones. Chernobyl used to be on Monday nights

Dragged Across Concrete with Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn was incredibly good.  It does take an investment of time and patience because the pacing is realisticly, sometimes painfully slow.  But the details are just fascinating.  Those dudes can shoot!

My favorite show in the last year or 2. It has its own thread as well.

Agreed. I can sort of understand someone not liking Station Eleven, but then I would assume that same person didn’t like The Leftovers, and I would assume that person quite possibly enjoys shows like Ozark and Yellowstone, which means we have dissimilar TV tastes. To each his own.

This is one of the worst shows I have ever tried to watch.  Abandoning after two episodes.  I want my money back.

I don’t think I got past 3

If you can make it through episode 4 then give it another shot. It pays off pretty well. I ended up loving it when early on I found the Traveling Symphony really annoying. It has one of the most satisfying endings of any show in recent memory.

I love Station Eleven, Ozark and Yellowstone.  But yes, all very different.
