What a guy.

That was his second thought. His first thought was raging about his internment camps not being credited for these deaths.

These are the states forcing women to have children without exception.

The Annie E. Casey Foundation‘s 2019 Kids Count Data Book, a state-by-state effort to track the status of children in the United States, ranks Texas 41st in overall child well-being based on measures of health, education, and economic well-being. That’s up from 43rd in 2018.

The report showed a slight decline in the number of children living in poverty from 22 percent in 2018 to 21 percent, which remains above the national average of 18 percent. The top-performing state, New Hampshire, has only 10 percent of its children living in poverty.

More than 81,000 children in Texas (11 percent) are uninsured, up from 9 percent in 2018. The national average for uninsured children in 2019 is 5 percent.

Louisiana (at 48th place), New Mexico (49th) and Mississippi (50th) are the three lowest-ranked states.

Well you see, open borders means hiding in 18 wheelers, packed like sardines.

They just fling poo and then double down.  Watching the news tonight panning from tragedy to tragedy and I can't help but think, this is the America Republicans want.  Will this be the new normal--just hate, shootings and death?  We went from Covid death trucks to illegal death trucks, while favoring the unborn.

The borders in California, Arizona, and New Mexico don't have this problem. Two of them our run by Socialist Liberal Democrats. The other one has a chance of swinging their trifecta the other way.

Longing for the day Don Huffines/Allan West can get on Fox News and talk about the Republican led, Abbott led Open Border policy in our state.

Saw this tweet this morning.  Perhaps the most despicable of the many despicable GQP tweets.  And just factually ridiculous.  If the borders were open, they'd just come across, not cooped up in the back of a sweltering truck.

We are fucked. Majority of Texans agree with Democrats on pressing and major issues, yet vote for Republicans anyway.

It's because they have no critical thinking skills and have bought into the lie that Dems are evil that has been perpetuated over the last 40 years by right wing media.

Oh god. That polling is horrifying. Some things that stood out to me.

1. Just 6% of Republicans cited current gun laws as the factor most to blame. "Insufficient security" was nearly double that. It's an alternate universe.

image.png.eb4b5350b563b98d181e1f0269bfd1da.png

2. Only slightly more than half think Biden won legitimately. Despite 50+ court cases, no evidence brought forward:

3. Cornyn is polling way lower than the guy that said "it could have been worse" about Uvalde, the guy under indictment, the guy that said grandma should sacrifice her safety during the pandemic for the economy, and Ted Cruz. I'm not a Cornyn fan, but he is by far the best of that bunch.

Mayor of Uvalde is pissed at Abbott and DPS, so Abbott should probably tread a little carefully and reach out to the guy.  Otherwise he’ll have a Republican mayor hounding him over the state covering up a tragedy that killed a bunch of kids.

Oh no, not a mayor of a small town. How could abbott recover with his base?! The only person that could swing r votes away is orange god turning heel on him

I know we want to be in a pity-party here, but these are shitty numbers for Abbott.

That's not to say that he's going to lose.  It is to say that he's going to need to spend quite a lot of that $50M COH of his to win.  And that is something that he has been saving up for a presidential run in 2024.

So yeah--you may win in 2022 with a smooth 55%.  Great.  Hooray for you, Greg.  But your presidential aspirations are taking a huge hit.

You think he makes a run? I see him as having zero chance, and it would only end in embarrassment. He's got so much that he can be hammered on and his polling seems to be in the dirt.

Every Republican who holds an office above dogcatcher is going to run in 2024.

If Abbott still has Presidential aspirations, then he's even stupider than I thought.

Dems need to run a candidate who will just go scorched earth and mercilessly rag on Abbott, Cruz, Cornyn, Danny Goeb, Paxton, and the whole lot of them.  Just come out and say, "Listen, I know I can't win.  These clowns have an R by their names, so they're safe in Texas.  But let me tell you why each one of them is a piece of shit."  And just do that for a year.  Shit, I'd hire Jeffrey Ross and his team of writers to give me material.  Just roast the fuck out of these douches.  At least have something good come out of this.  Otherwise, it's just people like Wendy Davis and Beto trying to run serious campaigns, only to get spanked.

I nominate @Brisketexan.  He would slaughter them.

I could see Greg Casar as a rising star after a couple terms in the House. Beto alienates the left because he tries desperately to pick up moderates. That might have worked in 2018 to make the margin respectable against Cruz but I don't think centrism is a winning strategy in the future.

Fuck Greg Casar, that guy sucks.  If Beto can’t win a guy like Casar has less than zero fucking chance.

I agree with everything but Jeffrey Ross...    But if you are trying to get Republicans to understand some of the roasting, then I understand Jeffrey Ross...

If Brisket won't do it, might I offer someone who would also relish the opportunity:

Yep.  My mom is with the Republicans on all the topics that she gets in her inbox from FWD FWD FWD, which is a mixture of fearporn and bullshit, but otherwise she is on the side of the Dems.  Yet, she has voted reliably Republican her whole life except for the time that she couldn't vote for Clayton Williams and voted for Richards instead.  It doesn't matter though, because those FWD FWD FWD's and Rush Limbaugh conditioned her to believe that the Dems are child molesting devil worshippers, and she didn't have the critical thinking skills to see past the bullshit.  And when I try to talk to her about it, she'd rather die than have the conversation.  She doesn't want to have her mind changed.  She believes what she believes and she doesn't want anyone coming in and making her believe any differently.

Can't +1 this enough. He's the architect behind the "let 'em camp anywhere in Austin" plan that went over so well. I am dumbfounded he is going to win a seat in the House.
