Poker and whiskey and a lot of talk of getting the Horns into the SEC. This was (is) a BIG money game since the next shift just came on.   I don't recognize the players (first time here) but we are talking serious money being thrown around.  The jist of what i gathered is that there are serious conversations going on between long time friends and business associates of the Horns and several SEC ADs.  Long story short, With a lot of laughter, is that if Texas wants into the SEC it's a done deal.  And if a swap needs to be made to keep a one team one state plan in place then **** will be replaced!!

we would be a terrible fit in the SEC,

we

A) Dont cheat

or B) cheat, but are terrible at it, so terrible that everyone thinks we just fucking suck.

Academics are a huge issue for UT. The SEC (other than Vandy) cant spell cat if you spotted them the C and the A  (nod to Hollywood H)

Its the reason we were all but locked and stocked to make it to the Pac 10 until Aggy threw the fucking grenade to stop everything.

also if we did join the SEC we would have to bring another school, probably ou....  and then the Sec would have to make a schedule to accomodate 16 schools, in 2 divisions.... meaning there is a damn good chance we would be in the West div where we would have to play  ou, bama, aTm, Lsu, arkansas, msu and ole miss

every. single. year.

on what fucking planet would we ever want to play that schedule every year?  right now arkansas is the only sure win, with msu and ole miss being teams you should beat 3 out of every 4 years (kinda like Kstate and TCU are now), then you get aTm that historically we beat about 3 out of every 5 games.   Maybe Lsu we could beat 3 out of every 5 years...  Then ou... which recently we are fucking lucky if i we win 2 out of every 5 games. since 2000 we are 7 and fucking 15 against ou.  then Bama... the same Bama that aTm has beaten once since they joined 8 years ago. the same Bama that LSU has only beaten 3 times since 2008

even if we add in 1 game against the other division and the patented 3 SEC cupcakes, that pretty much means statistically we would be at best around 5-3 every year against sec opponents, with the occasional 6-2 season, and then a miracle season of 7-1 maybe every 10 years or so.

thats not a good option for us statistically, nevermind ignoring the obvious academic concerns.

If by cheat you mean pay recruits under the table just like every other major football program, I can guarantee you we cheat.

I don't disagree with your general premise, but if we joined the SEC along with OU, Alabama and Auburn would likely move to the Eastern Division.  We'd still have to play LSU and OU every year though.

Anyway, it's not going to happen because Texas isn't leaving the B12.

Ok, spill it.  What do you know?  Texas to date has not been in the game like every other major football program.  If we were we wouldn't suck so bad. Gtfoh.  Have we ever, paid for a meal or given a few green handshakes postgame sure, but that is not the game.  Was there a time in the 80's and early 90's where recruits were paid for, probably.  That said what you are talking about, a culture and systyem of paying for players, SEC schools and OU are where the game was perfected and is still played.  That may change this year but prior to this year we were NOT like every major football program.  If we were, someone got ripped.

Ah yes, the ole "every other major football program cheats for their top players, but not Texas" excuse. That makes perfect sense. Somehow, winning programs that send players to the NFL at a much higher clip have to pay for their players, yet top recruits come to Texas for the love of the game. Our shitty results must have nothing to do with our shitty coaching staffs.

I'm not claiming we are the worst offenders, but to propose that we operate substantially cleaner than any other school makes no sense. Explain the logic that everybody has to pay, but not Texas?
