So where will the Q/oathkeeper/proud boy crowds go in this upcoming war between the orange man and dumb DeSantis.

DeSantis.  He fought Washington during COVID, fought masks, kept Florida open as much as possible, is fighting Disney, etc.

And DeSantis is not a loser like Trump.

The crazy thing about that is that those are the same people cheering against the bully when they see it on screen.  There is a huge lack of self awareness in this country.  It manifests in 100's of ways, like the assholes that camp out in the left lane, or that get through the door of the business and stop strategically to block everyone from coming in behind them so they can check their phone, or the assholes that walk 6 abreast and take up the entire walkway on sidewalks and in airports while they go for a sunday stroll when people are trying to make their connections, or they cheer against the fictional bullies but support the real ones.  WTF.

This is a fantastic observation and post. It captures the thread of utter selfishness and lack of empathy running through society that is killing us.

Seriously it sounds like the opposite of my family here.  They think that because I know Trump is one of the most vile people on the planet that I love Biden.  There are only a handful of people alive I would not have voted for against Trump in 2020.  They don't get that I look at Trump like OU, if Boise St is playing OU I root for Boise St but that does not make me a Boise St fan just that I hate OU.  All this time they are like the Penn State fans that once an R always an R no matter what Joe Pa did.

There are some people posting on here that they don't vote for Trump but they are not Dems but yall are busting their balls.  Take the win graciously that there is another person out there that won't vote for Trump.  Maybe they'll eventually get to voting against Abbott, Patrick, and that cock-eyed mutherfucker whose name I don't remember at this moment. Extend that to any souless bastard that promotes the big lie or failed to impeach the fat bastard.

Nurture the sprouts, don't stomp them out because it's not a tree yet.

It’s fucking annoying. They think my absolute hatred of everything GQP makes me an ultra liberal socialist. I was fucking made fun of for wearing a mask and getting vaccinated by some old baseball friends of mine. Like wtf!?!? Do they make fun of people for getting chemo and radiation? Or is cancer only for pussy libtards?

if given the choice between trump going to prison or trump losing the nomination to desantis, i would have to think about it.

Fuck that. If I can’t have both, fucking give me prison for DOTARD. It would be the ultimate “fuck you” hammer in all future discussions about that POS.

It would also martyr him and galvanize his supporters.  Losing to another Republican might just neuter him and them, or at least have them turn their wrath inside the party.

Yes, we certainly don't want to see his supporters getting galvanized.

Jail the motherfucker and maybe these idiots will storm the Bastille to free him. Only this time, we have the Claymores and professional soldiers in place.

That's what Trende thinks will happen - Trump loses the nomination (he's already behind DeSantis - take that Zogby poll with a grain of salt) and then goes nuclear after the nominee because it's all about him. He runs a third party campaign purely out of spite and peels off the crazies and torpedoes the GOP nominee.

It’d be fascinating to see how a ballot that has trump/desantis/ Biden or trump/desantis/Harris ended up.  When given a choice that is not democrat and not trump (even if it’s trump lite) what does that split look like?  Would moderates go to desantis or Harris?

Congrats to Abbott on his tie with "Someone Else!"

One of the only amusing aspects of the Trump era is watching guys like Greg Abbott fall in line and lick boots and then come up absolutely empty handed for their efforts.

And, it doesn't keep him from being elected in the future.  Quite the dilemma.  However, I might guess that even a relatively short prison sentence, in a federal camp (club fed) would greatly hasten his permanent demise.  He's such a pussycunt, I think he might die in prison with a one-year sentence.

Uh...he's not Trump.

Huffines is a typical GOP candidate who always falls in line.

Trump is about Trump and nothing else.

He'd start the Bull Noose Party and take all the radical racists with him.

i've said it ever since he released the slogan, but eventually TFG will actually make America great again - just not in the way he thinks. he'll do something like accidentally tear down the 2-party system and in a roundabout way save America. At least that's what I'm hoping for. I don't got much else

It maybe the first presidential poll that Abbott has placed in this year.

But that's a sketchy poll to have DeSantis that far down.

you sure dude? if DeSantis won the nom I 100% think TFG would split 3rd party. honestly I kinda hope that happens

Creating and running a third-party, call it MAGA if you will, is absolutely what Trump would do, because it would give him a political party that he has 100% control over, including the finances.

He made efforts to get his people into the GOP's finances, and even setup PACs to keep tens of millions flowing to him instead of the GOP.

And he pulled in $250 million on his own, which he could easily top with his own party.

He's 100% running third party if DeSantis bounces him in the primaries.  It gives him revenge and it gives him a shitload of money.

It does look very unlikely there will be a clean transition of GOP ownership from Trump to a successor.  I can’t think of a legitimate option who hasn’t at least presented themselves as somewhat adversarial to Trump.  DeSantis, Haley, and Pence were the most likely and they’ve all at least partially broken from him.  His kids can’t be him.  I’ve repeated a bunch that I think Trump was uniquely suited for that moment in 2015-2016 and I believe that more than ever.

I think DeSantis wins in a landslide at the present moment. Of course, a lot can happen in two years. I don't think Harris is that popular. I think there's also so many people that are mad about inflation and want some sort of change.

Trump doesn't run. The RNC will pay Trump so much money and prop him up as the Godfather meets Wizard of Oz backroom dealmaker that MADE Desantis. Trump will get everything he wants (money, influence, and the appearance of power) with none of the bothersome work that goes into being rich, influential, and powerful.

Reagan was at 41% approval at this point of his first term.

Heck, Trump was in a great position to be re-elected at the end of 2019 - then he fucked up the pandemic response and lost his mind.

A LOT can happen between now and November of this year and even more before 2024.

All that would need to be done to draw dotard back into action is a well-coordinated twitter bot campaign talking about how Desantis kicked his pussy ass.  How he's such a loser that he couldn't even win the party nomination, call him fat, broke and stupid, etc.  Dotard would split off his faction of fucksticks immediately.

Yeah, that's all true too. I can see both scenarios happening exactly as we describe them. We're trying to predict the behavior of an 80 year-old toddler, it'd be fun if it didn't have actual consequences like 1M dying of a virus or the potential downfall of our republic.

Absolutely no way he doesn't.

There's been speculation that a lot of Republican politicians are paying lip service to dumb shit Trump/Qanon/etc. bullshit not because they are afraid of his followers, but because they are afraid he will burn the entire party down on the way out.
