My statement was in response to, “this is just good old ordinary, everyday law enforcement”.

no, it’s not.  It’s unprecedented and by very definition political.

For the 1000th time.  If they have the goods on Trump, fucking take him.  He is a narcissistic buffoon.

Have you never heard of a thing called "due process?" If they just "took him," they'd be guilty of what the Trumpers accuse them of; a politicized sham.

You know, I’ll take a moment to suggest that every trump voter be punched in the crotch. They’re a bunch of soft headed idiots that fell for a two bit con man. I blame them for the current state of affairs.

if/when he gets tossed in a cell, i only wish his millions of followers would be in there with him.

After catching up on the last eight hours of posts I actually think there might still be hope for America.  Seeing the rats come out of the woodwork threatening the FBI, advocating secession, promising revenge, ad infinitum might wake up enough voters to throw all these bastards out of office.

For the second time in a week I find myself saying, oh my sweet summer child....

Apologies naturally if you were being sarcastic. So tricky to tell these days.....

Looks like the Kansas vote, the jobs report, and so on has dropped off the front page tho.

The hinges on my Happening Bunker broke off from excessive, overly excited usage the past few years.  Is this latest dust up worth getting it fixed over?  It certainly feels different given legit action by (supposedly) non-political agents of the government…but what are the chances this results in nothing?

It makes sense to me that the DOJ/FBI would legit have to have ironclad documentation and purity of purpose to raid the Mar-a-lardo residence of a prior president…and the Fox Q News types certainly seem to be wound up…but I’ve been burned before

Well, the thing is, I don't think Trump's base, which none of this negatively affects, can get him into office.

It's going to take a decent percentage of non-crazies, who haven't been sufficiently engaged, to elect him.  Between this, the 1/6 Committee, and Roe v. Wade, some of it is finally getting through that it isn't safe to vote R or Trump just because of your taxes or some bizarre notion that voting conservative is a better thing to do.

MAGA for the last 7 years when repeatedly being pointed out that their leader is a literal con man as documented by his track record in the judicial system- HAHA! You libs are so triggered! Cry more!

MAGA, agape, when once again their leader is dealing with the judicial system- UNPRECEDENTED!!!

Well, I think it's a definite precursor to an indictment in both procedural terms and testing the political waters.

Forget Trump for a moment despite this being the Trump thread--while his inability to declare candidacy would be great, I additionally fear that DeSantis knows just as well how to apply the same methods of rule--witness his recent Florida administration purge. A lot of this Monday news action still leaves the Democrats wandering around in circles staring at their feet, while Rs reframe the relevant topics. The percentage to which you refer may decide that the quieter authoritarian is preferable to the bombastic one. It's all up in the air at this point.

I know, it’s as if there was a great disturbance of the MAGA cognitive dissonance force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in psychological terror.

He's also the head of an international crime syndicate but has dementia.

The exact opposite of this.

There is a shit storm coming. Plan accordingly.

We can only hope that, if Trump is blocked from candidacy, the R electorate isn't energized for the next guy and it's just a numbers game all the way down the ticket. The back of my brain has pretty good odds on political violence before we get to that point, though.

Yeah, after this broke and I saw how it was going, the Ledge seemed like a good place to bunker not celebrate. The CPAC crowd, the Fox blitz, this is a tinderbox.

Cute, but in my experience, wearing an article of clothing making a political statement makes it 99% likely you are an asshole.

This.

Just donate the money or, even better, donate directly to vulnerable House Democrats and to Fetterman, Cortez Masto, Hassan, Kelly, Barnes, Beasley and Warnock.

Comments on YouTube, Fox and Reddit are telling me this is only going to galvanize his fan base.  Yet I would expect that they were already going to vote for him or it’s possible he won’t be able to run at all.

After years of these clowns spamming every website with their cultish drivel I sure hope this goes where we expect it to.

True. My kids are competitive rock climbers and I am leery that my "USA Climbing" sticker on my camper shell might be misconstrued as some kind of secret right wing ahole badge that would invite either vandalism or act as an unwanted GQP conversation starter. Gotta support the kids though.

The concern is about more than voting. Mass political violence typically requires a catalyst. A political faction needs some traumatic event to rally around. The fear is that this search and any subsequent prosecution could serve that role.

Yeah, the entire right wing media coalescing around “if they can do this to him they can do it to you!” messaging is a very bad harbinger. Nothing motivates the right to violent action like their absolute terror at being held accountable for something.

There’s no measurable amount of voters who voted for him that would ever vote against him. The only reason he lost 2020 was because they were too incompetent to shut down mail in voting during the pandemic and could only make it an issue after the fact. Republican voters are brainwashed by fake boogiemen and are trained to ignore real dangers. They promoted a violent insurrection and want to murder FBI agents on site but at least they aren’t socialists who want to tax hard working billionaires and provide healthcare to people and raise the deficit! That’s so dangerous! Like the nazis!

They are hopeless and I will laugh every time someone says “maybe they finally went too far.” There is no too far, there is no bottom. Am FBI agent is going to be murdered in the next few days, they’ll blame Hillary and Hunter Biden, or call it a sandy hook false flag. I’ve already seen some “they only needed the warrant so they could plant evidence.” There’s nothing that will change any of this. Rs good Ds bad. That’s all it is now for them. Period.

He won't be legally blocked. But he's been done since Fox News started pimping Rhonda Santis.

Raid with no prosecution or indictment before 2022 midterms would be a gigantic mistake, FBI wouldn't have raided MAL without having something that nails djt dead to rights.

At minimum they get a plea deal where he is DQd from holding any office. At maximum he should be executed for treason especially if he was leaking to an adversarial country.

I'd really like to take the over. Unfortunately, history has taught me to expect the under.
