But according to New York Times correspondents Maggie Haberman, Ben Protess, and Glenn Thrush on Thursday, "some senior Republicans have been warned by allies of Mr. Trump not to continue to be aggressive in criticizing the Justice Department and the F.B.I. over the matter because it is possible that more damaging information about Mr. Trump related to the search will eventually become public.

I don't know man. I think it's entirely possible Trump has lied before. JMHO.

It is impossible to explain. Obama is the president i most respect, but if he did a crime, I’d want him arrested. If he lied, I’d call him out on his bullshit.

Hell, we even gave Vince Young shit when he fucked up.

Trump is literally a terrible human. It is just embarrassing.

OH SHIT...great catch here...always read the footnotes.

FN2 In addition, the First Amendment provides a basis for the press and the public’s “right of access to criminal trial proceedings.” Chicago Tribune Co., 263 F.3d at 1310. However, this Circuit has not addressed whether the First Amendment right of access applies to sealed search warrant materials. See, e.g., Bennett v. United States, No. 12-61499-CIV, 2013 WL 3821625, at *3 (S.D. Fla. July 23, 2023) (“this Court has found no Eleventh Circuit decisions addressing whether a First Amendment right of access extends to sealed search-warrant affidavits, particularly at the preindictment stage”)

Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I can't attach much/any significance to that.  It's a simple acknowledgement that once an indictment is secured, a criminal case has commenced and that changes the circumstances.  For example, the defendant would, in most cases, be absolutely entitled to everything pertaining to the search warrant.  And the public may have a greater interest in its details, as most documents pertaining to a trial are government records.  Finally, the government's interest in secrecy as to investigative details is reduced once the case commences.

Surely, stalwart friend of Isreal Matt Mackowiak will condemn the anti-Semitic language that led to this.

That fucking idiot actually just retweeted this:

Jesus tapdancing Christ, he's still falling for the "Bill Gates email beta test everyone who forwards gets $5,000!" scam?  You know, the one from motherfucking 1997????

These are the stupidest.  Fucking.  People.  Even if they didn't start out assblastingly stupid, they caught a fatal fucking case of the stupids by spending all their time among stupidity superspreaders.

DOJ doesn’t owe anyone anything. It’s Trump who made this public. If Trump wants to release a copy of the search warrant, he can. But reality is that we all know he’s committed crimes and the raid was justified.

i still maintain that he can't release the search warrant because doing so would also be illegal, because of what's on the search warrant

it's an incredible trap he set for himself

I'm not sure they all have them, but there are certain assignments, terrorism and national security/espionage details, that may require them.

I'm fairly certain that a "national security task force" or some such was involved in this and probably supplied the agents who looked at documents.

I believe all agents require a TS/SCI. It should also be noted that this clearance level isn't that difficult to achieve. There are probably more civilians in the Defense/Intelligence Contractor industry with these clearances than there are FBI Special agents.

TS/SCI isn't hard.  I have one.  Just have to fool the polygraph 🤣

I would guess a decent portion of the posters here would qualify for a TS/SCI. Basically as long as you are not a fuck up in debt, criminal history, have odd foreign associations or a degenerate you should be able to pass.

Basically not have Trump's background.

The GQP doesn't want to incite their followers into murdering FBI agents.  The GQP wants to engineer a Kent State event to trigger a civil war.  They must have some serious skeletons they want to stay in the closet.

FOX has projection down to an art form. Their deluded, scared shitless audience is kept argument proof. The owners of the hate engine have convinced this huge number of people to trust Donald Trump over the DOJ, the courts, mainstream news, and their own conscience.

A video tape of Trump himself selling a state secret to a foreign power would be dismissed as Fake News. I know we all know this, but there are still moments where I look at what has become ordinary in astonishment.

A lot of people are going to end up dead and maimed because of what FOX is doing in the tweet above. Like the GЯP, their actions can only be explained as efforts to avoid prison.

Perhaps. My theory is Pence hated trump from the get-go but swallowed his pride and shamed himself by taking his VP nominee because he thought it was his ride to the top job, or at least the nominee. He's now essentially the guy in the casino who's lost every shred of dignity and dollar he's ever had but is determined to get it back.

I can buy that, but i doubt he has ever polled well enough to even give it a wet farts chance. I'm going with kompromat, on the level of having to do with minors. I don't think his demons are political

The GQP and Fox news are a terrorist organization.  Take any of their messages, and sub in "the infidels" for "FBI," and they are exactly the kind of terrorist organization that we've been drone-striking for the past 20 years.

It’s almost as if a white supremacist foreign national bribed Republican congressman to approve him owning news stations and has been pumping divise harmful rhetoric to destabilize the United States since the late 80s.

Jesus, that was pointless.  Merrick's pic needs to go in the dictionary next to the definition of "milquetoast."

not at all.  the opposite of pointless.  now the magatsphere that was up in arms and throwing their own shit anywhere they could, can now point to their dotard and ask him why is he fighting the release of the warrant?  if that turns out to be the case.... OR.... why doesn't he just share the warrant... that they were so vehemently shitting about, now that garland has started the motion to unseal it?

okay then

Trump allies are discussing the possibility of challenging the Justice Department’s motion to unseal the Mar-a-Lago search warrant. They have contacted outside lawyers about helping them, according to a person briefed on the discussions.

He likes to gently move the goalposts on his base's moral compass--bit by bit--until he has them accepting and rationalizing something obviously criminal. We saw this with the 1st impeachment, when his own inner circle was the one slowly leaking the details bit by bit. Ripping the bandaid off makes it harder for remaining rational actors who support his criminality.

Turns out the guy who was here earlier "just asking the hard questions" about Steve Vladeck was probably just a staffer for Senator Coward who didn't like the answer his boss received.

Prime example of one side playing argument, array of facts, and logic. A reasonable explanation is presented that should end the misunderstanding of the story.

The other side recognizes this but just brushes it aside to repeatedly assert something they know to be untrue to keep their followers' rage nearly uncontrollable.

Like Rudy, their routine is to generate theories not evidence. They're playing civil war while we play civilization.

Loathsome degenerates have made themselves admired leaders. I never thought I'd see this. It never even occured to me. Nuclear war seemed more likely.
