Everything that is true today that is leading them to bring charges now was true back then. No new shit has come to light. We all know what happened. I was asking the same question back then. What are they doing now that they couldn’t have done two years ago?

Well, you realize that it's not the feds bringing this case, it's Alvin Bragg and it is a different case, as I have explained.

The campaign finance violation appears not to be the charge.  Falsifying business records is the charge and that becomes a felony when the intention is to use the falsified records to commit another crime.  The "another crime" appears to be the campaign finance violation.  It isn't clear to me that it has to be proven BRD.

The cases seem to be quite different on several levels, not just the jurisdiction of the prosecutor.

I don't think you can say that everything that was true then is true today, and it has taken Bragg himself two years plus to get to this.

I think I can say it and I’m saying it. There’s nothing about this case that I didn’t know back while Trump was still in office other than the name of the person who finally got off his ass and brought the case. Who’s bringing it is irrelevant. It doesn’t matter that Cohen’s was a federal case and this is a state case. It doesn’t matter that Cohen pled guilty. That’s as true today as it was five years ago and it’s not stopping them from bringing the case now. I conclude that it wasn’t stopping them from bringing the case in 2021. I don’t care if it’s Bragg bringing the case. Who’s bringing it doesn’t matter. Let my Aunt Fannie bring it. “They,” whoever that might be, should’ve brought the case in 2021.

One quick correction. Trump never paid Karen McDougal for her silence. The National Enquirer did. Michael Cohen worked out an agreement to pay them $125,000 for the NDA portion of that deal but it was never finalized. A recording was released of Cohen and Trump discussing the payment but payment was never actually made.

Also, Trump publicly acknowledged his NDA with Stormy Daniels and his reimbursement to Cohen back in May of 2018.

*role

We’re not in a court of law right now so we can say it. Trump fucked Stormy and bought her silence to keep it from being made public during his campaign. You know it, I know it, Trump knows it, Melania knows it, everyone knows it. I don’t see what legalese you might conjure to legitimately justify why someone is bringing charges against Trump for it now rather than back in 2021 other than to basically say, ‘They just are.’ The wheels should’ve been in motion to bring this case against Trump the moment he left office and lost the immunity of being President.

I think you have to take precautions about any kind of attack just based on Trump fake tweeting about one. Plus putting the word out that you’re deploying personnel and setting up barricades will probably discourage protesters from attempting an attack whenever an arrest is eventually made.

After J6, they know that using your cell phone will get you arrested and convicted, so the prospect of going down there without the ability to show videos on social media or take selfies takes the air out of their balloons

He's probably really leaning on two Corinthians.

His favorite verse is actually from the Two Princess.

“This one he got a princely racket
That's what I said now
Got some big seal upon his jacket
Ain't in his head now
You marry him, your father will condone you
How 'bout that now
You marry me, your father will disown you
He'll eat his hat, now”

Working on, wheels in motion, fine.  I don't disagree. although I'm not sure I see this as a high-priority criminal matter like Georgia, 1/6, and the documents.

Vance, Bragg's predecessor, seemed to be focused on making a criminal case out of James' civil case and Bragg shut that down after taking office.  Justice is probably not super-interested in pursuing a contested election violation case after getting its ass handed to it by Edwards.

I just object to the characterization of it as a slam dunk because it appeared in the "Indictment" (really an information emphasizing how informal it was) in Cohen's pre-arranged plea bargain.

There may be a few that go that far but will not be anything anywhere near what happened on 1/6. Most of those people had no idea the legal shitshow they were getting themselves into. They thought it was all fun and games. Now they've seen many of them arrested, jailed, and having to go through expensive trials and they won't want any part of that this time around. They will do what they're best at and just whine like babies online.

No doubt the crowds will be way smaller than J6. What worries me is that the ones who do show up will be hard-core believers and it only takes one to create a very dangerous situation.

I think this is where I'm at.  This one seems like almost a technicality and certainly among the least offensive shit he's done.  As long as he gets got on the insurrection or trying to defraud the election system, I'm good.

Trump:  "How can somebody write a letter to a whole group of people?  You can't write a letter, from Donald to the Puerto Ricans.  I tried."

As for violent outbreaks.  Yes, even the stupid ones have learned after two years that there's real consequences to violent insurrections/getting lost on the way to the gift shop.  That's where I come in.  Right now, bots are filling their twitter and facebook accounts with facts like:

1.  Those patriots broke into the Capitol, let's be honest.  There is nothing wrong with protesting outside the Manhattan courthouse.  Not illegal at all.  We cannot be arrested for that.  Be respectful but be patriotic, seen, and heard!

2.  We can voice our opinion as loud as we want.  Do not physically confront police, raise hands, or push/shove.  Bring flags, but do not use the pole for anything violent.

3.  There will be tons of media there, so come ready with talking points and be clear and precise with your messaging if interviewed.

4.  Do not attempt to enter the courthouse.  There are cameras everywhere in that part of Lower Manhattan.

5.  New York State is open carry, so you are strongly encouraged to exercise your 2A rights and bring long rifles and handguns.  Tac vests and extra magazines are allowed, but don't go overboard.  We are patriots, not insurrectionists.  Be forceful but respectful.

Only thing we're trying to figure out is there are some guys who are gonna rile up the demonstrators into getting violent so some of them get arrested and/or killed.  But I want those instigators to have a safe way outta there before the shit hits the fan.  You have to make it look like you didn't start anything, and exited the area quickly out of panic for the ensuing violence without your timing looking too suspicious.  These guys can do that in their sleep overseas, it's harder to do in the most densely populated corner of the United States.  Looks like we'll have about a week to see about logistics.

This is actually a really rather elegant long game by AG James, State of Georgia, and the DoJ.  If you happen to know exactly when and where somebody is legally required to be in Manhattan, serving them a subpoena for a much more serious crime suddenly becomes a lot easier.  The optics of "raiding" (bullshit term, but it's stuck in our national lore forever) Mar-a-Lago again ain't a great look.  Serving him again, and again, and one more time on the steps of the Manhattan County Courthouse in front of 500 television cameras.  Kinda hard for him to pull the ol' "Who you looking for with that envelope?  Nope, never heard of him.  Certainly never had dinner with him."

Like Hermanator said, a sizeable contingent found out what happens when they fuck around, and the alt-righters, Trump, etc., will not let you forget that a whole lot of them ended up with criminal records and/or prison sentences.

As for the hard-core believers, by March of 2023, if they were going to act, they should have by now.  There's been too many times that Trump tried to rile them up, whether it was immediately after the election in Nov of 2020 (or even much earlier, going back to the summer of 2020), or January of 2021.  If they weren't willing to walk the walk when Trump was telling them that Biden lost and shouldn't be in the WH and that the election was stolen from him, I don't imagine they'll get riled up over Trump paying a porn star $140,000 and getting busted for how it was paid.

With that said, there could be some who believe they learned some lessons and think they can avoid what happened to the J6 idiots, and they may try something, but that has to be a small group, and I have a feeling they will be engaged by law enforcement pretty quickly.  In NYC, they'll also have a huge mob of people filming them and trying to ID them.

You're talking about the rational ones.  They're stupid, but they're humans.  They have a self-preservation instinct and can tell when their gut and the hair on the back of their neck is telling them something isn't a good idea.  Maybe not at the ballot box, but sure as shit when armed police are involved.

I'm riling up the deranged ones.  The ones with criminal records, mental illness, products of incest, serious drug and alcohol abusers, the lone wolves in basements, the ones already targeted by extremist groups for their vulnerability (thankfully, those lists have been leaked over the years).  All you need is a few hundred of them, maybe not even that many.  You need them to be there in person, or at the next Trump arrest (there will be two total).  You get just a handful to start shit, maybe a few dozen.  Then you only need a smaller number to be arrested and an even smaller number to die.  That's the second phase.  Third phase is they key---the rational ones see their co-patriots and brothers being arrested, assaulted, and killed on streaming video.  They ignore their gut as rage takes over.  self-preservation gets drowned out in the social media noise and violent empathy of "that coulda been me" or "I knew that guy online!"  That's when the masses come out to play.  That's when the real fun begins.

But the people you are talking about are probably scared of going to a big city like New York City, because they might walk past a minority, or run into a gay person, and the next thing they know, they are forced to attend a drag show and pay higher taxes and give up their gas stove and admit that Hunter's laptop is MacGuffin and that Hunter's Dong is real, and then it's all down hill from there.

Well yeah, but they get to visit world famous, authentic pizzeria Sbarro's.

And SIAP:

Serious conundrum.  Indicted on Wednesday.  Technically, you usually have 30 days in which to surrender.  Obviously for a more high profile defendant, accommodations need to be made for security and logistics, and that's perfectly understandable.  But they've (DA/Police) back-channel asked for it to be on a weekend, less traffic and crowds in Lower Manhattan which is a shitshow between 7am-7pm M-F.  Which means he has a choice.  Spend this weekend in Waco or central processing.  Tough call honestly.

Ah, who am I kidding?  He wants the crowd, he wants to disrupt and ruin people's days and cause Wall Street and downtown NYC all kinds of heartburn.  He'll pick peak business hours on a weekday to be more of a center of attention.  Because being the first U.S. President in history to be booked for a felony crime isn't enough attention.

Actually, if you look at the calendar.  For "lesser" news coverage and traffic disruption, I could his team saying, "Let's surrender on Good Friday.  They've offered to stay open and it'll be quieter with less of a circus."

Trump, "Good Friday?  I think probably equal.  I like all Fridays equal, they're very personal to me.  I don't like to pick one Friday or another as Good or Favorite."

No, Biff.  It isn't Kramer.  That's not a real person.  I know he means a lot to you, but he's a TV character.

The adults are trying to talk about saving the Republic.  Grow up man.  You're hung up on some hipster doofus from the 90s man.

At least they don’t get more than a month to plan the attack like they did after Trump lost the election. There was a lot more coordination that went on with the Jan 6 attack than there will be now.

That'd make the all-time great internet meme of tattoo fails.  Guy goes in to tattoo parlor and asks for the Kramer.  And he ends up with the real life Kenny on his back, some long-haired dipshit nobody knows about except Larry David, his lawyer, and Kenny's bus driver.
