'He has not seen the field for a single snap the last two seasons but played in the season opener back in 2018 as a true freshman against Eastern Illinois, seeing five snaps. He has no career statistics as a Razorback."

Probably should have announced he was still on the team before that nice departure tweet.

I don't think anyone on the UT side has seriously discussed TJ Finley as an option, but today's article from an LSU writer doesn't even mention Texas as a suitor.

There's an interview today where Finley claims that Bama is recruiting. I'm starting to wonder if the kid might be using reporters to inflate the perception of his demand

He looks like an OT. He should go to JUCO and learn the position.

He has two more years if he wants the second, so I’m wondering if this is an offer to potentially replace Jamison, Thompson, and Dunn for 2022 if he doesn’t win the starting job in 2021

Farrell thinks it's Auburn for Kaufman

Quote

Defensive back Donovan Kaufman from Vanderbilt will announce his decision Wednesday. Auburn was the immediate favorite for Kaufman once he entered the transfer portal - basically due his strong relationship with former Commodores head coach and the current Tigers defensive coordinator Derek Mason.

As time lingered on, numerous other schools entered the picture, with Texas establishing itself as a serious threat. However, when Kaufman makes his planned decision later Wednesday, it will be a very big surprise if he ends up anywhere else other than Auburn. Florida State has done a nice job entering this battle as well, and the Seminoles are a longshot.

No UT note re: Finley

Quote

Former LSU quarterback TJ Finley has seen interest remain consistent and strong, but the uncertainty about the SEC-to-SEC transfer rule will likely delay his decision for a few more weeks.

Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss and Alabama are all involved, which may lead to the delay, while Penn State is the non-SEC school that is pushing the hardest. Out of the SEC programs, the Tigers have definitely been the most aggressive in their pursuit.

And our interest in Novitsky is confirmed

Quote

Numerous Buffalo players have entered the portal in the last few weeks due to the coaching change, with Mike Novitsky being a young offensive lineman who has drawn a great deal of attention.

The interest has intensified recently, with more programs getting involved. Syracuse and Baylor led the charge initially, but since then Maryland, Rutgers, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Florida State, Texas, Notre Dame, Florida and TCU are some of the many schools that have made contact.

On top of Novitski, this kid seems worth looking at: https://herdzone.com/sports/football/roster/cain-madden/6295

It was literally impossible for me to read the first part of that sentence and my brain not automatically finishing it with "call covered with cheese" in a sing song voice.

I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed.

  • Name: Cain Madden
  • Position: OG
  • Number: 62
  • High School: Minford High
  • College: Marshall
  • Hometown: South Webster, Ohio
  • Size: 6”3 313 lbs.
  • Background: Born December 23 1996 (25 by his first year in the pros)

Was 3rd place in the Shot put high school 2nd best mark at his high school. Excelled more on the football field as he played both sides of the line. Walked on to Marshall and worked his way to a scholarship on April 2019. Was Redshirted his first year at Marshall. Saw snaps in freshman year but didn’t become a starter until an injury in his second Season boosted him into the starting lineup. Proceeded to start the last 9 games as a redshirt sophomore and hasn’t missed a start.

PersonalityDoes know how to cook already and understand nutrition. Lost 15 pounds during quarantine. Is big on education. Extremely mature. Nick named the Dump trunk from his teammates. He is a grinder and has had to work his way for everything. You won’t be seeing this guy at a strip mall on top of a car with his shirt off.

Red flags: Older prospect has peaked almost like your  you are getting a vet.

Against some damn good competition.  Those two plays on an island with Duv were money.

A better throw and he is beat on that 2nd one. But based on these highlights kid looks good.

Well, there wasn’t a better throw on the second one and as a result, Duv should have been called for OFFENSIVE pass interference because he was pull the left shoulder jersey and doing everything he could to keep the kid from turning and intercepting that ball.
