She's cut from the same cloth as the other Republicans in Congress.  She just doesn't have decades in government in which she faked putting a nice face on things and trying to hide her rotten core.

This.  She is the most honest representation of the Republican Party. A true believer in dangerous nonsense.

Crazy that we have congress members that attack school shooting victims that don't follow her gun law thinking. She's probably very close, if not already, a school shooting denier.

She's said Sandy Hook and Parkland were false flag ops.

It's evident that several? GOP state parties are lead by conspiracy theory minded people now. They're the ones that strongly influence who wins primaries. They will put up candidates that have extreme ideas, somewhat moderate their views for the general election and we will see crazier people in DC.

And yes, there are rational, reasonable GOP voters that would be horrified about hearing some of the the extremes of their party. But these are voters that will be tough to convince them to vote Dem since Dems are all socialists. They will point to policies as their driving force and not the candidate.  "Marjorie has some odd ideas but she votes the way I want."

The insanity of the GOP is a feature, not a bug.

THIS IS WHO THEY ARE.  There are only two types of Republicans: absolute batshit crazy nuts, and those who stand beside them, enabling and protecting them at every turn.

It's a mentally deranged death cult.  That's really all it is now.

Does the average Republican know who she is? Like, is there some Democrat equivalent that Republican boards endlessly mock (deservedly) that get no traction here because it is just the random junior representative of the elevendieth district of east york and we don't care what she says so we don't know her?  All I see is Pelosi criticisms, plus Wired AOC replacing Tired Sheila Jackson Lee.

she got 230K votes, compared to 78K for her democrat opponent.  it was a landslide.  if you ran the election again, with those 308K voters knowing that they know today, the election would not turn out any different.  that is the republican party right there.  trump empowered the deplorables.  we will be hearing from them for a long time.

The "average Republican" doesn't care about facts or who she is.  The "average Republican" thinks the election was stolen, birtherism, O theories, and on and on.  They voted for 45 again despite injecting bleach, kids in cages, abandonment of the Kurds, and I could go on for days.  The "average Republican" either is insanely ignorant and shielded from all facts or doesn't give a flying fuck about facts or decency.    There is nothing that could come out about her that would change any of their minds.

Not really.

It's on us to make her and Boebert the face of the party so that the average Republican knows who she is.  Kevin McCarthy and Liz Cheney aren't scary enough like NANCY PELOSI so we should make these 2 the faces.

This.  Except the average Republican doesn't give a fuck. The average Republican is all in on craziness.  But there are more of us than there are of them. And we need to act like it.  And also to shame the so called "average Republicans" who wilfully ignore truth and decency.

The gerrymander, voter suppression, Electoral College, both siderism, and a wimpy Democratic party have made this less clear.  Around 40% of the country is on board with lunacy and cruelty.  It's on the rest of us to make sure that they find out from their fucking around.

Agreed. Some people think that it won't matter because GOP voters don't care, but it really does. People are funny like that. 80% of the elected party might be batshit insane, but most people, even most GOP voters, don't pay that much attention to politics. If they see someone like Kevin McCarthy as leading the party, they'll think it's returning to a more normal political party because he's a boring, normal looking white guy.

Dems don't even try to define the Republican party in voters' minds, while the GOP spends literally all of its time trying to define the Democratic party. That's why they remain competitive despite none of their policies being remotely popular.

Instead of saying there is no way people like this get elected, maybe we out them BEFORE they win?

I also realize this might not have hurt her in the district, but it at least has to be attempted.

It was widely known that was a nut before she won.  That is what happens with gerrymandered districts.  You get extreme candidates.

Great posts on this thread. I stopped handing out rep because I want to save some. Every response I had was covered in the above and by others.

The best play for Mitch's GOPs is to go back to the ol' playbook and hope the national awareness of who they are blows over. They can't do anything about who they are because they spent decades creating it.

They've got a decent shot of the TV news media going back to their lazy ways of covering the world as if there really isn't ever much that's profoundly new. They may get back their "fariness" edge where their ideas are unfiltered by media who suggest the GOPs are basically like everbody else excepti with different policies.

It must be weird for Mitch and the other forces of evil to operate with doubt after so long operating in certaintly of how they could manipulate the processes and their voters. They're still in an end game, I think. Try to hold it together for another decade or so until the old devils like Mitch can escape to their golden years counting Oligarch money.

We will end up relying heavily on BLM leadership and leaders like AOC and Stacey Abrams to keep us alert and on the move.

Terrorism will increase in the name of patriotism sanctioned by this traitorous woman and the new GOP/Trump establlishment.

It still feels like it's going to get bad and worse.

thanks asshole, I had to look that up.

The Guelphs and Ghibellines (/ˈɡwɛlfs ... ˈɡɪbɪlaɪnz/, also US: /-liːnz, -lɪnz/; Italian: guelfi e ghibellini [ˈɡwɛlfi e ɡɡibelˈliːni; -fj e]) were factions supporting the Pope and the Holy Roman Emperor, respectively, in the Italian city-states of central and northern Italy.

On the bright side, people like Kelli Ward are great for turning a state blue.

She looks like she's starting to pack on some weight...honey moo moo?

We "Scotch-Irish" actually date back to Britons who alternately guarded and attacked Hadrian's Wall. This was at the far end of the Roman supply lines. In times of plenty, one seeks out a mate who can store up scarce nutrients. Being a touch crazy also helps in the melee.

I'll stop now, before I fall in love with Cousin Marjorie.

The only good thing that came of the Trump presidency is that he empowered Republicans, elected and commoners, to be themselves out loud so the rest of us know exactly who to keep an eye on.

Trump + FB, to judge from some of the fantasy stories my HS friends are forwarding to me.

74mm people voted for trump.  a large percentage of those people believe there was fraud, a stolen election, and all sorts of other conspiracy theories including venezuela/dominion, etc, not to mention the q-morons.  if millions of people are already believing this shit, obviously some will decide to run for congress, and as it's been said, in certain areas of the country, it's pretty easy to get yourself elected actually running on these issues.

am i shocked mtg is in congress?  no.  i'm actually shocked there aren't 20 mtg's in congress.

I was worried she wasn't going to get a quip in there about him being funded by George Soros and the Liberals, but she got them both in after he stonewalled and ignored her. It sounds like she was angry that senators had the audacity to meet with a school shooting survivor and not a proud gun owner like herself.

I don't think it would be hard to get to 20 different flavors of MTG.  Matt, Louie, Gym, Kevin, Paul Gosar, Steve King, Teddy Raphael, Crenshaw, GunTits, Doug Collins, Joni, Marsha, Cotton, Inhofe, Kennedy come to mind.

Disagree.  You have your surrogates hit her.  That's what the GOP does.  And it works.

We have learned that relentless and repetitive negative attacks, using fourth grade level words, often full of lies, works.  It works very, very well, because we the people are very, very stupid.  That's the game now.  I'd advise the Dems to play to win.
