Post Vaxxed Life

If you are vaccinated stop wearing a mask. Masks are to protect other people more than yourself. You put a permanent mask on with the vaccine. Wearing a mask when you are vaccinated is just as bad as not wearing one when nobody was vaccinated.

The CDC guidance is that vaccinated people don't need to wear masks even indoors, outdoors or anywhere except sealed tubes filled with people that recirculate air basically. Are all of you now saying the CDC doesn't know what it's talking about? That's as stupid as when they said masks are mandatory saying they didn't know. If you are vaccinated you need to move on and leave people who are choosing not to vaccinate behind.

I waited in line for 4 1/2 hours total to get my vaccine - don't give me a bunch of garbage about "I couldn't get an appointment" stop being fucking lazy and go get one. Friends of mine drove all over the state to get them the same day. There is currently a vaccine surplus stop lying about your "cancelled appointments"

My kid hasn't worn a mask in public ever. Why the fuck is your kid within 6 feet of random strangers for more than 15 minutes? That's the amount of exposure that is recommended against.

My wife is currently in Chicago, apparently it's the opposite of Florida, even with everyone vaccinated they are brainwashed into still wearing masks and a bunch of stupid non-fact based compliance.

The longer this virus stays active, the more mutations there will be.  The more mutations that there are, the greater the chances that there will be one that spreads even more easily than all known variants, is more deadly, and isn't at all inhibited but current vaccines.  I, for one, would very much like to avoid that scenario.

SARS-CoV-2 is not going to “die”. Doesn’t matter if every human on the planet got vaccinated.

If there was a vaccine that would keep people from believing what idiots post on Facebook, I wouldn't care what any misinfo morons post on Facebook.

There is no misinformation on facebook any more.  They fixed it.

I agree with the sentiment in this thread, "Stop worrying about who has and who hasn't gotten it."  Ultimately, it's a "scoreboard, bitches!" situation.

The virtue assigned by people on different fronts within the discussion regarding people's private decisions is interesting to me.

What? The militant approach towards anti vaxxers is literally causing diseases to spread unecessarily because people are being fucking idiots. There's a really really good reason to give people shit for vaccine non compliance.

There is only very few good reasons not to take the vaccine and none of them include "you shouldn't either because it will negatively effect me".

It's like saying people that spout nonsense and misinformation are totally harmless and we should ignore them.

I'm not sure you understood my post.

Think of it this way. If the only people who don't get vaccinated are idiot non vaxxers, then I could give a fuck what happens to the lot of them.

Prior to the vaccine, we had a large swath of the population who was vulnerable. And there was nothing we could do for them other than try to help keep them safe by being responsible citizens.

Now, the only vulnerable people are those who choose to be.

In short, fuck them.

Yes but then we don’t get to be angry Karen’s.

The Karens these days are the ones getting escorted out of a private business while screaming about their constitutional rights. You’ll find their husbands complaining loudly about false narratives designed to sow fear and division daily in DT.

Post-vaccine I get to see people I haven’t seen in awhile. Haven’t changed my life much except now I don’t even bother with a mask most places.

This. No change here. Good to see some folks who, for many reasons, were holed up for over a year and who are now coming alive.

One thing that has been weird to me is almost from Day1 of widespread vaccine availability, Amarillo has run an open 'clinic' in the Civic Center with no requirement for appointments and no questions asked beyond basic stuff.

Is it because of lack of demand/ population density?  Why so different for us?  We have people who were coming from all over the country because is is so turn key... and yeah, what are the odds anything is streamlined for us folks out in podunk?  The whole deal is just strange and unpredictable.

My speculation: That was Abbott et al trying to pwn the libs by getting their supporters vaccines first. They just didn’t realize their supporters wouldn’t take the vaccines they set aside for them at the rates needed to really pwn the libs.

This was definitely because of vaccine hesitancy, take that however you need to take that lol

My life is completely normal again. Restaurants, bars, vacations, and everything else. It’s great.

Same. Double vaxxed over a month ago, but to be fair, was also living life before also. The only difference is now I don't have to wear masks everywhere, which is nice.

This is not medically correct. You can still get Covid and can still transmit it to others, even if you are vaccinated. The CDC has not released firm data at the moment regarding transmission after vaccination (they've waffled back and forth each day for the past ~week). If you are around someone considered medically vulnerable, wear the mask to help protect them, even if you are vaccinated.

Yeah bro, wear your fucking mask forever and stay inside until you die. How about you just get fucking vaccinated and let people have personal responsibility since you know there is walk up vaccine available. It's not my fucking problem if you get sick and die from covid if you chose not to get a vaccine.

I'll add to this.  We had appointments for my 12 year old and my 15 year old to get their first shots yesterday at Walgreens at 12:45 p.m.  For whatever reason, we had it in our minds that the appointments were later and when I bothered to check, it already was 12:45 (and one of our kids was spending the night with a friend).  So I grab the 15 year old and hightail it to Walgreens (the wrong Walgreens).  Made no difference.  15 year old had the shot inside of 15 minutes.  I collected the 12 year old and got to the correct Walgreens at 2:30 p.m.  No wait.  No fuss.  Two kids with first shots in arms and the same injection site soreness the next day that I had.

Heading to D.C. with the family in early June.  Kids will get their second shots the day after we get back.

Question: who are people that can’t get the vaccine for medical reasons? Meaning, what affliction do they have that prevents them from getting it?

I know one guy who can't get it because he has severe reactions to something in the vaccine.  That's about the only person I've heard of with legit reason not to.

Kids can get this now, readily available?

CDC/Texas has opened up availability of Pfizer to 12 and up.

We made an appointment online with Walgreens with plenty of availability, missed both appointments and got both kids' shots without delay even though I went to the wrong location for one of them.  I'm here to tell you that it literally is foolproof.

That said, I live in a county where the above 16 population is only 34% vaccinated at this point.  So I wasn't expecting long lines.

My SIL has been advised(or so she claims) against getting the vaccine because of immune system issues she has had in the past.

She is fit and under 40.  Also, my brother(her husband to be clear) had Covid around New Years, but somehow she didn't catch it.  So who fucking knows.

what gives? He’s one of the biggest voices in conservative media. Are we not outraged?

U Sirius Clark?  He sold the website a couple of years ago and it immediately flipped left.  Pretty sure most conservatives deleted any bookmark to it soon after.

If you haven’t been going to the gym consistently since June ‘20, then that’s on you. I also would’ve gone to movie theatres since then but haven’t seen any movie worth going to.

I just don’t want to be hassled in a business and will comply. It’s their right to do whatever they want. If it’s some rando I’ll ignore them, then show them my vax card, then sneeze violently to show them I’m dangerous.

I've been going to gym, just first time in a yoga class.  And same on movies but went to a dump of a film on Saturday and had a blast

I wouldn't say the people of Chicago are brainwashed.  A few things:

  • If your wife has only been there for a few weeks, she's looking through a completely different lens.
  • It's more about compliance as you mentioned.
  • You mentioned earlier that the non-vaxxed people should be shunned or whatever, and that's the mindset in Chicago since the beginning of the pandemic (except with masks instead of vax).
  • It's a lot more inconvenient to get vaccinated if you're living in downtown.  Or, it was up until recently.

My wife flew in for the weekend after the CDC guidance and announcement. Compliance sounds a lot like brainwashing to me doesn't it? Lololol

It's a weird virus. My siblings and mother all caught the virus and all of them were asymptotic. My oldest was exposed to someone who had it and they ended up getting sick for a week. We all isolated in my home after finding out but didn't get tested and never had any signs of infection.
