LOL. I wouldn't be a member of either organizations. What would you say is the dominant political affiliation of the LDS church and its member?

Depends...(nothing against the olds :P), Most of the LDS membership is outside of the USA but you get a good mix of political affiliations in the USA membership

You're kind of skating past the essential point.  Tennessee will never come close to reaching its hypothetical recruiting ceiling because it's backyard is crowded with schools like Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, etc.  Oklahoma doesn't have that problem.  That's a huge advantage.  If DFW is in your backyard, you aren't "isolated."  Ames, Iowa is isolated.

I get the point, I don't agree with it.  Tennessee has more recruits in the window you mentioned, more competition, but more recruits.   Oklahoma has less competition, but less recruits.  In order to reach more recruits, they get more competition.

And they don't own DFW, pretty sure you'll have heavy competition, as always, in that market.

Again, this isn't an "Oklahoma won't have top recruiting classes" point, its being on an island doesn't provide an advantage.  Unless they were like in the middle of Texas, with no other Texas schools.   THEN maybe it would.

Oh, and Ames has 27m people within 300 miles and 50m within 450.   They're on a bigger island than Oklahoma.   They just don't have the brand to do anything with it and, its not south of that line we talked about.

OU recruits nationally (sad to say that is probably why they have been winning the conference so much more than Texas and the load of 7 on 7 recruits)

this is 2023 OU

2022

2021

2020

2019

2018

that is a pretty good spread from all over the USA who knows if Bretty V can keep it up, but he spread out all over the USA and hit a lot out west in the 2023 class

and the Big 12 has fucked this all up by

A. adding the shittastic UH to have still too many teams in Texas

B. letting those 4 fucking teams come in a year early or to come in at all until Texas and OU are gone for good

C. if it is to be believed giving the 4 new teams ANY money the first year in the league much less costing existing members money to add those teams

it should have been 0% year 1, 25% year 2, 45% year 3, and 100% year 4 and year 1 would not start until Texas and OU are GONE even if that is 2 seasons with new teams in the league

E. look for extra money from Texas and OU beyond the standard exit fees for leaving early

F. have the deal worked for Texas and OU to leave early (or not) while the new deal with ESPN and Fox is being worked on.......with Texas and OU carrying the freight on any cost to that or any expectations for OOc games in the future with existing Big 12 members

G. with B in mind and having been dumb enough to do that it was totally idiotic to allow new members to get home games with Texas and OU especially shittastic UH with Texas......monumental fuck up for existing members to give up those games to the new members

It’s not crushing anyone. We just want to leave but don’t act like you guys haven’t been hanging on and your commissioner wasn’t butt hurt

I think we’re as ready to move on as you guys and the networks are being fuckwads.  The money for the extra year isn’t worth the awkwardness.  Obviously if you guys wanted to stay permanently that would be great for us, but that’s not the case and that’s fine.

But there are posters here that blame the Big 12 when their dog shits in the house.

Maybe.  I think they’ve had the best coach in conference from 2000-2021

Tennessee has more recruits surrounding it and historically has what to show for it?  Oklahoma beats them in pretty much every personnel metric (All-Americans, 1st round draft picks, NFL draft picks, Heisman winners, on-field success, etc.)  OU signs a higher ranked recruiting class than the Vols nearly every year.  Maybe the surrounding competition you're downplaying makes a difference.  http://www.winsipedia.com/oklahoma/vs/tennessee

DFW *is* competitive.  But OU is probably the #2 brand in that market behind Texas.  Tennessee is no better than the #3 or #4 brand in any of its surrounding big recruit-producing markets.  Again, the competition matters.  If SMU and Arky were blue-bloods, OU's life would be a lot more difficult.  But OU is "isolated" relative to recruiting peers.

If you think Ames is less isolated than Norman, relative to recruiting, there's probably no point in continuing the conversation.  Show me all the blue chippers in that population circle surrounding Ames that ISU can't land because the brand is too small.

Bro you said the same thing last week, then thamel hit with the snag article..

Having said that, hope you are right this time

Yes because until the snag it was looking great. Now it’s back on. Just not positive on the timing. Could be a news dump tomorrow or could be within the next couple weeks

I wonder if the hold up was arguing in the big12 over who got a home game vs tx and ou, and they wanted the idea of a 2024 game being available to tamp the aggression of getting one this year.  Finalize that, publish it, then drop the news that none of them get a game in 24 with either team.

I guess the individual schools are too involved for them not to know the status?  Maybe tell them it’s hit a snag, which is where that came from?
