That was legit the best parody they’ve done since probably Dick in a Box.

“What do you mean I’m already in it?!?” Abs Method man popping up were funniest parts.

I didn’t think I’d ever really say this…but when are we going to admit that SNL is actually…good again? Been a long time. But they hit more than miss now.

I remember when Jost and Che first came on weekend update and everyone hated them. Now they’re one of the best parts too.

But the writers and performers are much better now than 10 years ago. Hood stuff.

I like that you don't have to watch the whole show anymore, and that might be helping perception. I usually watch clips on youtube but only the ones that look funny or that I hear about. So I think the show is pretty darn good right now. I watch the entirety of Weekend Update every week. Can't wait for the Christmas joke swap. Those are always great.

Doghead Man was great

It bugged me that they kept calling the 4-star, "Major."  But it was pretty funny otherwise.

Solid episode especially since I had no idea who the host was.  I'm noticing that's the case more and more.  I'm used to not knowing the musical act, but with so many streaming shows...I've just accepted that I won't know about half the hosts.  If they're not huge names, the ones that give themselves over completely to the writers and the cast still excel.  The ones trying too hard to make a "splash" often fail and drag the episode down with them.

tl; dr--------tonight is the Thanksgiving special with clips from the last 45 years.  I always like this one, except the family that vomits turkey into one another's mouths.  It wasn't funny before Covid, it's not funny now.  It's certainly not edgy.  But so many other great clips from over the years, especially those that shine a light on what most of us dread---in laws talking politics and religion at the table and there is not nearly enough booze to take the edge off.

Really enjoyed the final skit for Business Garden Inn & Suites & Hotel Room Inn and the Lonely Christmas skit.

And if you like rude Billie, check out  the video for Lost Cause.

Those were definitely the two standout sketches IMO.

And Billie be rude. Got a little ScarJo thing going.

Shit, forgot about that.  Yeah, they usually do it at Year End and then Season End (May).  Thanks for reminding me, we gotta appointment watch now that we don't have cable anymore.  I always love that segment.  Those guys could not be more different in real life but they play so great off one other.  I don't know what they'll do without each other (though Che has a promising standup career to which to return).  And I don't know they'll replicate it after this as far as future W/U hosts.

There's certainly no other Norm McDonald out there.  And if they want to stick with "duos", which seems to be the preferred norm at SNL for the last two decades, I don't know how you top these two.  There've been great pairings, but nothing can touch Che/Jost, IMHO.

Billie Eilish is very attractive, she was always hiding before, i'm not sure i could have identified her face previously.

i mean i think she was literally 'hiding', on purpose...consciously avoiding the exact reactions in this thread. which are normal reactions,  i'm not judging...just that she has seemed very intentional about it until now.

looking like that, having that figure from a young age, has it's challenges in normal life. i can only imagine how much worse it is trying to break into the entertainment industry.

i don't actually know anything about her, i just empathize with that perspective. so maybe i'm projecting and she's just a tomboy lol 😄

Yeah. Billie Eilish has had a real rough go of it breaking into the entertainment industry. What a charity case. And she has great tits on top of it. Tragedy.

You should share your sentiment with some flat-chested, aspiring musicians that have never got nor ever will a hundredth of the breaks Billie has gotten.

Not that I value women based on their breast size but that is a self image issue among females as old as time.

i have no idea how 'easy' or not she's had it (i truly have no idea), i was more curious about her personal motivation, but okay mr. man, demanding more explanation 🙄...

she has clearly had a very anti-'popstar', asexual style...boxy, baggy, etc...last week she does some SNL skits where we finally see her figure, and turns out she's shaped like Marilyn Monroe and unsurprisingly there are suddenly several comments like 'whoa!' bc i assume most viewers haven't seen her like that. i certainly hadn't.

i surmised that perhaps she had been purposely 'hiding' herself specifically because she wanted to avoid being sexualized/objectified.

she is very young (just turned 20 so she was like what, 15, 16? when she 'broke'??). it is fact that females that develop early often experience sexualization at a young age, even moreso than normal, and i empathize with that.

anyways...so i google a little this morning and turns out she actually has some comments about it...

"What I like about just dressing like I'm 800 sizes bigger than I am is it kind of gives nobody the opportunity to judge what your body looks like. I don't want to give anyone the excuse of judging."

...

Since the beginning of her career, Eilish has constantly turned up to red carpet events and recordings in one particular style: baggy clothing. The reason for this is simple. She didn’t want anyone to see her figure, because she was conscious about her body image. In an interview with Glamour she says, “The reason I used to cut myself was because of my body. To be quite honest with you, I only started wearing baggy clothes because of my body.”

...the 17-year-old singer revealed that her baggy clothes and unique style are a deliberate choice to avoid being sexualized. "I never want the world to know everything about me," Billie said..."It makes me mad. I have to wear a big shirt for you not to feel uncomfortable about my boobs," Billie added in a recent interview with Elle.

i'm not a huge fan, she's not always my cup of tea music-wise, so i didn't know much about her personally. i just wondered about her style motivation...and after reading a bit i think i nailed it lol. so i guess i 'own' exactly what i said 😄

I can see how developing a porn addiction at 11 years old would make a young girl go for the baggy look. I knew nothing about her until the info dump happened after SNL.

oh wow, didn't know that either but it fits. interesting how she has chosen to counter the effect that may have had.

i wish i liked more of her songs,  there's 2 or 3 i dig but overall that whisper-voice doesn't really do it for me. i think i put her in with Taylor Swift - objectively talented if not my preference, but kind of awesome and badass in how they are owning their talent and claiming their power. i think i would like to hang out with them 😊

ANYway...agree with @mdmostabout last night... depressing 😕 too bad bc they have been on a good roll lately. enjoyed some of the callbacks (Murphy, Steve Martin)...but that bird skit was just painful 😐 wonder why they pulled in Tina Fey and Hanks instead of other cast members.

It was indeed sad. Props to Hanks for saying "Fuck you, I'm a 5 Timer!" and going on anyway. Really missed Jost and Che throwing down. Maybe they will do it next episode.

Obviously, ztejas is pretty flat chested so it hits close to home for him.

Bro doesn't skip leg day, what're you gonna do?

I had/have no idea who Billy Ellish is, other than that moment she took at ACL about some of our Texas laws (much respect yo'!).  But her background story, the little that I've learned of it...I kinda get why she does what she does nowadays (obviously you never know anyone completely).  But I get it, I applaud her independence, and wish her all the best and to not harm herself due to mental health issues.

Can we get back to the funnies?
