I like how small the "Finalist" text is in the graphic lol

Really strange that every other finalist is a "Bear Bryant" conference coach of the year except for Sark.  Honor to be included I guess but he can't win over Beamer who won the Bear Bryant SEC coach of the year right??

I have no idea what the real situation is with Sark. I've been trying to get a hint but no one is talking. The coaches salaries in the NFL can be significantly higher than what he makes at Texas right now.  That has to be a factor. But there is also the asswhip of recruiting. I know a guy on staff and he said college recruiting is an absolute beatdown. He said it is literally 7/24/365 and very intense.

edit: also would not be surprised to see Urban Meyor Texas talks, round II, with a much better chance of going through the second time because of the decline of the bag game and Urban's epic failure in the NFL. Not saying it's a good idea, only that some folks with money would be interested in that scenario.

Sark isn’t going anywhere. The microscope of the NFL is greater than the one at Texas. The personalities are bigger and your leverage is much smaller.

Consider having a guy like Johntay Cook on your team, but you can’t just let him go bc he’s detrimental to your team’s culture. Worse, the team has invested heavy resources into getting him, so you have to make it work and favor playing him over the more effective UDFA.

But mostly, he’s very unlikely to leave before Arch and maybe his son move on. also unlikely to leave before winning a national championship.

Not just back to back appearances.  Will be back to back top 4 finishes, which we haven't done since 2008 and 2009 (finished 4th and 2nd).

4 weeks at #1.  Hadn't happened since 2008, obviously, which was only 3 weeks at #1.

Anyone thinking that moving to the NFL would represent a reduction in work load isn't paying attention.

Its different work, but you are still working 80+ hours a week as Spurrier famously learned.

I remember Jerry Gray going into the office at 4 AM and coming home at 10-11 PM.  Can't remember if it was NFL Films or HBO.

I don't buy the Sark to the NFL rumors. He's been better as a program manager/talent acquirer at Texas than he has as an offensive coach. He gets to have a talent advantage against 90% of his schedule every single year at Texas. That's gone in the NFL, and his teams haven't shown the discipline/execution to consistently succeed without that talent advantage.

But being a college coach is absolutely more taxing than the NFL right now.  During the season both are similarly busy, but NFL guys get more of an offseason. College coaches shift right to recruiting. There's also a difference between working 80 hours per week strictly on football versus having to Facetime and text 15 year-olds all the time or keep your whole roster happy because they are always free agents and can transfer at any moment.

Have to disagree. The is no way the NFL isn't a reduction of work load over the course of a year.

They can be, but for the most part those guys have all had success in the league.  Sark's current salary would be ~ 8th in the NFL right now, and he may get another raise out of CDC in a few weeks.

Craig Way on the ticket this morning said he doesn’t know if Saek has interest in the nfl but that he does love college football so much he watches it in his spare time.

Sark is too smart to go to that cesspool

Yeah, if he were dumb enough to take it, Skeletor would be doing us a favor in the long run.

Let’s just hope he hires an OC after. So once he’s script is over he can give off the play calling duties to the OC and maybe we can score in the 3rd qtr

Doesn't bring in Arch on 1st and goal from the 1. Slowest developing toss play from the 1 on 2nd down. Him and Ewers are made for each other

Yep - when it was 1st and goal from the 1, should have kept it simple and brought in Arch and do 4 tush pushes if necessary.

Instead, Sark knows better than us rubes and he's gonna catch Ohio State off guard so we'll run a slow developing outside run.....oooooo tricky tricky sark there.

consecutive national semi finals is still a good sign for the program thats in its best shape in over a decade. Time will tell if he can get over the hump to make and win a champ game.

He is an elite QB from winning it all. I can see it happening in Arch's second year as a starter. I never thought Quinn would bring us a championship. He has been too inconsistent this year.

1st and goal from the 1 means you bring in a D-lineman as fullback, pound it up the middle four fucking times and live with the consequences.

That toss play is up there with the Garrett Gilbert shovel pass against Alabama. Just why?????
