Isn’t the business of being a news outlet supposed to be objectivity? At this point they rarely break any news and just report on it after other sites break it. They are just a program propaganda machine.

I'm not sure what world you are living in but yeah that's what people want. Very few people want to think critically or form their own opinions.

Surly is way undermonetised because we demand long attention spans and original thought for participation. I could turn this into a slop machine like any of the other sites pretty easily. No one wants that.

The problem now is that largely the attention span for conversations has decreased significantly, people are apathetic more than ever if it doesn't immediately give them a dopamine hit. Its the whole issue plaguing all of User Generated Content right now, including YouTube. You become a slave to the algorithm and goldfish attention spans or you rely on people who will do the work spreading it around for you.

For surly in particular a lot of people want to not share with their friends IRL because they don't want to doxx their handles. It's a very strange paradox right now with the rest of the internet being effectively non-anonymous.

The fact that a player whose entire development came from outside the Texas program from such a well known QB school like Troy (this scrubs 3rd school where he didn't start) over the Qb this staff evaluated, recruited and didn't develop is very much the fault of the staff not the player.

Or Owens just isn’t very good. We’ll never know

Exactly. Unless it’s a post mortem explaining why we canned a coach. Or a coach leaves. Most people want sunshine pumping or  some just want cryptic emojis 🦑 🐙 🐠 💩 with people claiming to know more. And merely hint at what the “more” is. And if the objectivity or truth telling is bad about a HC or coaches or practices or program or approach we shoot the messenger for outing our dirty laundry. No one really wants the truth in the middle of stuff. They want to cling to  their truth based on their bias. And when it comes out they bitch that no one told them the truth when it was all happening after the post mortem is written. Jeez.

We've lost 3 ball games. Two of them to teams better than us. We lost three ball games last year. All 3 to the only two teams who recruited better than us. We just aren't finding a way to beat teams that are more talented than we are. It's as simple as that. Arch is a 5 star. Well, so is Georgia's QB. Georgia is executing better than we are because they are better than we are. You guys pissed about us losing to Georgia after watching us this first part of the season blow my mind.

No, I don't think I will....

NOT UNTIL they either beat Ohio State in the B1G Champ game and or roll off a couple of rounds of playoff wins.

They are definitely a much much improved squad but they haven't done anything yet worthy of using them as a comparison point in the "why can't Texas overcome tOSU and or Georgia" discussion.

Indiana is a perfect example of what will never happen at Texas. Cignetti would have never even been on our radar.

Then maybe we need to change the paradigm because we have won 1 national championship in over 50 years and far far too few conference championships

Whatever we are doing is working average at best

Probably, but I don't see how it happens when the AD isn't the final word on football hires.

This needs more attention, I feel like the 5 stars Texas gets are athletes that have to learn the position they play. Jt sanders, worthy, Mitchell, Ant Hill, and now wingo. Bama, Georgia and Ohio state have guys show up that play that specific position really well already and are also athletes. It’s still a coaching issue, Mack-Herman-Sark…it’s systemic. I don’t have an answer but at some point what Kirby said has to happen. Find mother fuckers who want to tear your heart out to win then pay those guys. If wingo is a 5 star then I’m Santa Claus.

I get your overall point but several of those players are terrible examples

In so far as Indiana football since it’s inception what 1913? I think.  They have had two ten win seasons. Both Cigs. They should name everything football related after that man. If they kick as and wind up in the MNC no one will convince me Sark is a better coach. If Indiana gets into the MNC…he’s beyond HC of the Year honors. Anyone who thinks it’s a 5 year deal that can only be built slowly is just swinging from Sark’s balls trying to prop him up. It doesn’t take five years if a HC is focused on being a HC without any other distractions. And Sark has them in spades. As OC. He cannot do both and he will die on that hill with a handful of you yelling at clouds. ️

CDC should have built enough credit to keep the power brokers in line. He needs to throw his dick on the table and if he is going to be sidelined he should probably leave. And I am a big CDC fan. He'll isn't he like co president or something also?

Sure, one game one "upset".  That shit happens all the time in college football.

All I am saying is that yes Indiana is right now a perfect case study in how quickly a moribund program can be turned around these days.  Until they show the ability to consistently beat the top dogs they are not yet the case study for "how do you beat the top dogs"

I have no idea how to fix the football hiring process at Texas. I also think CDC loves it here.

Sark didn't have stone hands last night. It's not a play calling issue, some of you have no critical thinking skills. It's a coaching issue. He's a bad coach. He's a bad leader of the entire team, because he isn't leading.

There's one thing I do know. Someone isn't teaching our WR's that have been on campus 2-3 years how to get your hands in the proper position to catch a football.

Bobby put out a couple articles today and seems like he’s running cover for the program. Sad Bobby has been reduced to this and won’t he objective about the program and Sark. OTF basically seems like Texas version of TexAgs at this point.

Yep, named every excuse on the YouTube cast but blame Sark.

On his claim on preparing for the onside kick, has anyone looked at the prior couple of kickoffs?  I bet they show our front dropping back too soon and someone on the uga staff noticed and let Kirby know the opportunity is there.  And of course we didn't self scout and realize we were doing anything wrong because, well, we're not the most detail oriented staff.

Kirby knew very damn well we were not going to be setting up for an onside knowing we have the best kick returner in the nation ready to try to make a return.  And if Sark is now admitting we knew UGA might play that card and we just said fuck it,  let it happen.  That is a testament of how disengaged Sark is during the game.  I can guarantee you if Kirby thought we’d do the same thing because Sark had a reputation with playing that same card, he’d be going up to the Ref asking for a timeout or clapping before the kickoff because he would sense it like a hound dog in a meat market.

I can’t stand Kirby and his antics, but give the man his due.   He can coach and he has real time awareness that is not really matched anywhere.    Gosh I I’d like to see them play the aggys because I think he’d kick their ass worse than ours and expose them  as paper tigers riding a very weak schedule this year to 10-0.

They dominated Oregon who has twice their talent.

Oh so they upset somebody that is way more talented than them, that NEVER happens in college football.

Look at it another way, in 2022-2023 TCU went to the National Title game.  Is the way Sonny Dykes and TCU did things something we should be studying up on as a "how do we get to the top of this mountain and stay there" discussion?

Take away the helmet, take away the names, and just give the stats to anyone that remotely know football, and their first suggestion for this team would be to hire a new OC.

"Well the first thing the head coach needs to do is bring in someone to fix the offense, because it is completely broken. Oh, what's that you say? The head coach making $11 million a year is also the OC? Well, good luck with all that."

My word….   As Paul Finebaum  likes to say that alone should cause the coach to “lose the locker room.”

This is worse than “winning is hard.”

It won't happen because they will have their access pulled.....but someone should ask Sark on Monday about their special teams practice of on an onside.

1.  So you practiced it and the players still lined up 15 yards from the kick and immediately turned their backs for the return?

2.  The entire front five on the return?

3.  Did you and/or your special teams coach remind your players before the kickoff that you had practiced it?

Again, it’s not they’re squeaking by every game. They’re dominating with subpar talent. My point is that coaching matters especially when you have equal or lesser talent. We all know Indiana may lose their first playoff game but it doesn’t make it any less impressive that a down program has gotten turned around so quickly.

TCU wasn’t that dominant that year and was very close to losing a couple games.

But let’s keep arguing to argue.

I’ve posted this, CDC in the last two years since Sark was hired has pulled the plug on two coaches who regressed in two consecutive seasons with that being Terry and Pierce.   I’d like to think he has the street creed now to do the same with football today if he had to because he senses something is not right with the program such as complete disengagement from Sark. Or next season if this is a rinse and repeat of this season?  The question this is timing and if another half dozen of so schools in the Power four start firing their coaches by the end of September.    I mean who else as of today might be on the hot seat next year at this time or earlier.  Dabo if he gets a stay at Clemson or doesn’t jump voluntarily before then?   Burnt Veggies at OU?      FSU doesn’t look like they are going to make a change as of now?    There is three potential schools right there we could be in competition for a new coach next year.

Eeeeh. You usually don’t fall ass backward in 3 consecutive years. Trends develop positive or negative and luck has very very little to do with it.

Worthy had academic issues i believe at Michigan. Banks was going to Oregon until mario left and jimbo failed and handed us hill. Good on sark for capitalizing but he lost the initial recruitment for a reason
