Never been impressed with him even before the injury. He’s never seemed quick enough to really be effective against good defenses. He just doesn’t make anyone miss even before the knee

He was a freshman, man. I'll take Saban's word that he was the best RB they faced over message board hand wringing. Before his injury he could break tackles and he had speed. He's a shell of what he was. People hang on to the fumble against UW, but the dude has 9 carries for 64 yards and a TD at 7.1 ypc a clip. Dude still had almost 700 yards rushing @ 5 ypc and 5 TD's, with 156 yds receiving. That's over 800 yards from scrimmage, and he shared the ball with Brooks for most of the season. Had he not torn every ligament his knee had to offer, he was going to absolutely punish people with the muscle he added.

I really don't get the hate. He has exactly 1 fumble in 186 carries. That's, uh, pretty fucking good. Yeah, it sucked that it came at the wrong time, but people are living in some kind of time distortion or alternate dimension regarding his abilities.

Arch Manning has quietly put together a pretty good season.

I wouldn't say "quiet." Dude has done really good for a first year starter with 2,763 pass yards, 23 TDs with only 7 INT's. Not to mention a 67.7% against top 25 teams, and 62% overall. People also shouldn't forget he has 7 rushing TD's. 34 total TD's and 7 INT's is more than solid. He's grown up before our eyes, he's processing the speed of the game much faster, and he's not trying to fit a square peg into a round hole by forcing the ball into triple coverage for the most part.

He went from being enigmatic to understanding the assignment. Next season he's going to be indomitable and inexorable. He's already showing his rating and now after he pummeles aggy on Friday we can look ahead for him hulking out.

I understand the hesitations and reservations regarding Wingo (who is on his way to close to 900 yards if he balls out Friday and he could reach 1k if he plays in the bowl game, along with 6 TD's at 16 ypc), but he's gotten better each season, and I expect him to take the next step, along with Moore (who is arguably our most underrated WR), Mosley, Livingstone, McCutcheon, and we'll probably finally get to see some more of Lockett, Ffrench, and Terry in actual game time.

As for RB help, other than Wisner, hopefully Baxter is much healthier and more dominant between the tackles as his knee should finally be healed. He will never be what his ceiling could have been, but that doesn't mean he can't be a healthy co-starter. Hopefully one of Cooper, Simon, and/or Clark steps up along with a (hopefully) elite portal RB (they're not like WR's out there, but there are plenty to be had).

Our OL hopefully gels and we never have to see Stroh again. Goosby (LT) [maybe Neto/Cojoe here] (LG) Robertson (C) [Chatman maybe here] (RG) and Baker (RT). These are just guesses for G, but I can't think of anyone else who would be old enough or good enough to overtake them. The LG battle will be one to watch for. If Neto can't take the job at that point, he's a lost cause.

TE we'll still have Endries, Washington, Winston, and Townsend; Shannon as a blocker, who surprisingly wasn't as bad as I thought. He's not really good or anything, but maybe average to a smidge above. He's not total dog shit, tho.

Damn... there must be some kind of medication or vaccine for it if it's a "disease", right? Is it contagious? Shit...I better watch out who I'm hanging around with, otherwise I could catch alcoholism...

IDK if you're being a troll or just dumb, but not all diseases are contagious and yes there is prescribed medication to help alcoholism in addition to lifestyle changes like uuuh diabetes. Plz lawd I hope you didn't actually attend and graduate from UT

I do think there is a difference between addiction and disease. By many of the posts any meth head/ nicotine/ heroin/ cocaine/ etc is a disease also - no it's an addiction.

Addiction does not equal disease. There are drugs to help on addictions but diseases are different. Just imo.

You don't wake up and... Oh, shit I've got alcoholism, damn. Never touched the stuff but I got it now - no addiction is what you have.

A bit different than wake up and ... Oh, shit I got the Ebola, damn. Disease

Sark just said I guess to the reporter covering the UT game and the reporter repeated on ABC just now that “if Texas wins tonite it will be a joke and a travesty if Texas doesn’t get into the playoffs.” I get it. He wants the team fired up with a chip. But losing to Florida after a BYE week was the joke and travesty, Steve, you human paraquat. 😂

What is he supposed to say?

Molly McGrath is an AP voter who has been adamant on Sirius XM that UT should be ranked above OU and Vandy. I don't disagree with her stance.

Reporters would love Texas to win and create drama so they can make hot takes on what Texas deserves.
I think it is funny that booger mcfarland would say that Michigan beating tOSU would be the biggest win of the year when asked if Texas beating aTm would be the biggest win of the year. Some first class deflection.

I get why sark said what he said. I still maintain we wouldn’t be in this position if we hadn’t lost to Florida after a bye week. Even with the collapse against Georgia in the 4th. He wants our team fired up and I understand that. We should not be in the position we are in. I blame Steve for that. People can also not blame him. But I get why he said it. I don’t think we are good enough to beat the best teams and we should be. That’s on Sark. Doesn’t mean I want us to miss the playoffs. It is what it is. We should control our own destiny. And we would if we had beaten Florida. I can both understand why he said what he did and also be pissed at him.

There are at least three plays in that formation and play-tree for a lack of a better term. They are on film already.  Sark will run that set 3-4 times I’d bet good money.

Shits fucked in bad weather with our OL and RBs unable to control the game.

I do have more faith than ever in Arch that he will make the right decisions and go for the throat though.

I worry about the D with our two starting LBs out. But I just have to have faith we can outscore em like you said. Arch is doing so well now. I hope we make the playoffs bc we need more practice not less and he’s been coming along on a clip since the 4th Q of the Miss State game. He knows what this game means. I know our staff does. And I hope our team as is fired up as we are. But arch has wanted to go to UT since he was a kiddo and he knows what this means. Hope we can just do this game Arky style. And then sacrifice aggy dreams and tears in a bonfire of our own after the game to the football gods.

If I’m aggy I have someone ready to jump that route for a pick 6. Even if we don’t do it and get a 20 yard pass or something, the chance at a pick 6 would set the tone on the first play.

I am pretty sure Elko and company have watched our film. Arch is gonna have to beat em. Because we continually abandon the run.

@Nicole44 , thanks for the weather update. Scary, it favors aggy.  Then again if Wiesner can pop out to the boundaries, they still don't have speed there. We're not going to get anything running in the middle. Just hope Arch is on.

They have 2 WR we should have gone harder after that are very fast ... Akina - worried.

Also, which Reed shows up? He's good for an int this game. We have to contain him with our missing LBs.

If we win this game, it will be because Arch threw/ran for 300+ with no turnovers and our defense got at least one takeaway.  I don't know if we can get to Reed with their offensive line, and I'm not sure we want to without Ant Hill to chase the scrambles (probably).  But if we can confuse him with schemes, he's gonna throw it to us at least once.

Aggy has not played a good team in three months.  And their defense is ass.

Let's fucking go.

How many starters did aggy return on the OL this year?

We owned them last year. How much better did they get YOY, anyway? We know they've played the most bitchass SEC league schedule.

We need Klein to put Reed into drop back or PA pass with progressions. his single reads / RPO / scramble when it doesn’t work are his bread and butter.  It’s the old KSU offense that was just fucking terrible to defend st times. Why we needed Hill tonight to shut down the QB runs and scrambles. I’m hoping Trey Moore gets the spy assignment and shows up and plays his best game of the year.

I'd like to see us switch up who is the spy to keep Reed guessing, but maybe that's too complicated for us.

I would expect that too. But I’d think hill and Moore are the two best though you could put Simmons in that role too some to mix it up. I don’t get paid enough to guess PK’s ideas all I know is the front seven is going to have to play great for us to win

Absurd. You can be genetically disposed to be an alcoholic. I certainly am.  Not the brightest minds to be honest but they get funding and write things that make people feel better.

If you don't drink can you become an alcoholic? How is it a disease if it is self triggered and requires work to get there? It is an addiction. Can you be a druggie without using it first?

Addiction that you may be genetically predisposed to have. Your mountains and these great minds are foolish to think otherwise. Diseases are not self triggered. But hey they get funding and make people feel better.

Oh shit, I woke up and just got alcoholism as a disease! No matter I've been drinking a fifth of bourbon and a 12 pack for ten years 3x a day! It is an addiction like any other drug.

I by most accounts followed genetics and maybe am an alcoholic. Never drank at work or anything like that but when I got home, I'd drink way more than normal at times. Addiction, don't even feel it much. I choose this - also helps on nerve pain.

Multiple Sclerosis - this is a bitch. Nerves go nuts, not sure day to day if I can walk or need to crawl to the bathroom. It's great for weight loss,  can't get to kitchen. Tremors all over can't write usually. I didn't choose this. It is a disease.

Far fewer people feel sorry for fatties and their self inflicted diseases than they do for alcoholics and drug addicts. I guess.

I have sympathy for everyone dealing with struggles. But my patience wears thin when people continuously fuck up time and again and don’t accept responsibility for it.

I think it’s 💯 possible to eat better, exercise, stop smoking, and stop drinking and stop using drugs. People do it every day.

Sobriety is hard. But most of us don’t completely blow up our shit routinely every year.

I pray for those people, but it’s ok and totally acceptable and understandable to get frustrated and to lose sympathy for people who cannot get out of their own way, routinely.

I never thought I would see Robert Downey Jr survive where he was in the 90’s. But he has. And I will always try to be there for people and care for them and love them: but if someone is hell bent on destroying themselves sometimes  it’s best to get out of their way. Lots of damage can be done and many addicts are very selfish to a degree. most of us committed to sobriety have our struggles. We fight hard, But most of us don’t fucking implode routinely. And leave a massive mess in our wake. On the regular. It is hard to endorse that kind of behavior even if I understand it. And it’s totally ok to be pissed, frustrated and at wit’s end of people who routinely don’t avail themselves of the resources at their disposal and choose the shit path every fucking time.

I think you are getting wrapped around the axle on some word definitions. If you actually do an ai prompt for addiction, addictions are described diseases. But, your hangup in this conversation is way less offensive than how others have characterized being an alcoholic.
