And that is why we’re in the situations we find ourselves in.

What are the concrete examples of wanting success in all sports being detrimental to football?

If anything the fact we want to be successful in all sports and are in a great many of them should make it easy as shit to do the gap analysis of “whats going on over here that isn’t happening with the football program?”

Let me clue you in. The University’s desire to be successful in all sports isn’t the problem. It’s that for a lot of dumbshit reasons we don’t run football the same way as many of those successful sports starting with how we hire the coaches. .

But revenues aren’t falling. By your own criteria, he’s not failing at football.

If you are looking at "until now," you may be correct. Losing to Kansas will most likely cause some issues.

And my criteria is winning football games. So, that's incorrect.

Then why even bring up revenue?

The point is, these “arguments” all boil down to emoting about being bad at football. No one is happy about that. But when you try to contend the athletics department is failing at winning or losing money, they fall apart, because they’re simply not true.

All are pretty fucking meh football programs currently. USC is 6th.

2018-2019 above, all fired coaches or will be firing coach soon except Stanford, who knows.

See a common theme? Most are average at best or bad in football.

Football for a team in Texas and a team looking to join the SEC should always be #1 priority and the other sports secondary.

Because I was addressing Pancho's claim that winning sports programs was not the AD's job. Revenue is a big part. Winning is a part, especially in the sport that pays for all the others.

That’s not at all what he said. It’s almost the opposite, in fact.

Last I checked, I wasn't making 7 figures to see that all of Texas' sports are winners. He is failing at that part of his job, and people pulling down 7 figures really shouldn't be making excuses.

This is just fucking dumb, and you are being overly emotion. Stop with stupid ass takes that you know aren’t true.

If you say so.

Yea correlation always equals causation. Im sure when Florida was winning back to back football titles back to back basketball titles and playing in CWS finals all in like a 3-4 year span that it was because they were focused on football only.

See how that works.

Again give me something concrete you can point to where this is specifically the problem at our University or be fucking gone with this binary bullshit.

There is no excuse there just the results on the field. I never said that some component (particularly the last two) were not in some ways the responsibly of this staff. And certainly next year they will own all three if they really have 33 nee players on the roster.

Honestly Sark isn’t going anywhere this season so throwing “its fucking Kansas” fits may have been fine last Saturday and Sunday but 5 days later be a fucking man and not some emotional bitch.

It took Tom Herman coming in and laughing at our admin to upgrade our locker rooms from 2000 era. The fact we're not constantly upgrading our facilities to the latest and greatest in order to compete.

We are reactive instead of proactive. We haven't been the joneses and we sure as fuck don't act like it but we talk like we do. We're so fucking behind other college football elites it's not even funny.

Yeah just make fucking excuses for losing to Kansas, at home no less to a fucking 3rd string QB, a guy who has never played a down before, and giving up 200 yards rushing. Oh he aint going anywhere so no reason to bitch is a complete fucking joke.

And thet lack of football facilities upgrade was a direct result of our desire to be good in all sports? And you have proof of that?

72-60 is Texas record for the last 10 years coming into this year. We've lost to Kansas within the last 5. Tom came within an inch of his life playing with them 2 years ago. But you still actually have the arrogance to think you're above losing to them, ever? Like, buddy, look in the mirror.

Yes and we should as a program. I'm not going to accept losing to them and it will always and forever be a sin to lose to fucking Kansas. Any rationalizing of it is pure fucking retardation. It's a fireable offense, unfortunately we just hired this lame duck coach that we're stuck with for at least 2 more seasons after this one so he can't be fired.

The worst coach in school history was fired for it. Will Sarkisian be able to pass Strong on that ranking?

We're going to get a new practice facility. Relax.

Are you fucking serious? Maybe I'm misreading your post, but we have better fucking players than fucking Kansas. Period. End of story. We also have more poorly coached players than Kansas too. Excuse making, no accountability, point the finger, entitled mentality like that is part of the problem. Gee wiz, these poor kids might be more athletically gifted across the board than Kansas, but you can't expect them to have more desire and be smarter than Kansas. We've just had too much attrition for that, which isn't anybody's fault. GTFO of here with that shit.

Except that, again, football is the revenue driver for the whole department, by a long shot. Failing at football is failing at the job, however we want to parse who makes the football hires.

The department isn’t losing money. How are you not comprehending this?

What do you think the coaches are selling recruits? This is literally the same pitch. This statement is for recruiting. It serves no other purpose. If you dont believe that, why dont you tell me why he put out the letter.

I actually think that if this statement was put out specifically for recruiting then it is an even dumber thing to do.  Who are we kidding?  Recruits are 17.  They know the Head Coach and the coach specifically recruiting them.  95% have no idea who the AD is.  You think they know the AD at OU, A&M, Alabama etc.  No chance.

The negative recruiting with this is also really easy.  Any outside coach/recruiter will ask a current recruit why they would want to go to a program where the admin has to make excuses for the poor performance on the field.  They will ask a recruit why so many highly rated and talented players that signed with Texas are no longer on the team.  Other coaches will rightly call it a train wreck and that Sark will get fired soon enough just like their last few coaches.  The elite and confident players needed to win  already expect to get playing time wherever they go.  They want to be developed.

CDC is getting barraged with calls/texts/emails/tweets etc on what is wrong with Texas and what Is wrong with Sark.  He is tired of answering the same question over and over and over.  He put out a letter so people will stop contacting him.  He will just refer them to the letter.

Or running an elite college football program in 2021 is light-years different than having a national title-caliber swimming or softball team.
