I think the Alpine and maybe another 1 or 2 passed a week or so ago as well, and from the look of Alonso's insta story the other day, it looks like Alpine has started sim work as well. That might have just been a sneak peek, though. Motorsport.com says they'll start sim work this week.

In other Alpine news, Fernando will have another surgery, to remove the titanium plates that were put in his face after that car tried to kill him on his bike.

His secret Santa gift arrived at the right time, then.

Hopefully other circuits will follow their lead.

I'm just as excited to see the excavation and drainage going on as the result of the race track lol. That's my line of work.

Yep. From Bottas, right?

Yes. From one cycling enthusiast to another.

Yep, it seems like they do a fair amount of work there almost every off-season. They really seem to take a lot of pride in it and want it to be the best it can be.

When F1 and MLB worlds collide...

I don't disagree with the gist of the tweet, but it should be noted that this is coming from one of the guys who publicly trashed the Astros while he was cheating his own ass off at the same time. Glass houses & all that.

They still have Honda for a year or two.

From what I've read, they've been snapping them up left and right.

Yep. They’re taking on the bulk of Honda’s F1 staff and even getting from Merc.

I too am a Formula 1 enthusiast and would like to follow along in this thread.

Completely uninformed prediction: Merc nails the new car, LH wins #8 with four races left and it never really being that close. Max finishes #3 behind George Russell. Ferrari and Red Bull battle for second in the constructor's.

Officially booked flights to Montreal. More expensive and convoluted than I wanted, but the options from AUS to YUL are not great. Most options seemed like they landed around 12:30 in the morning.

Hotel is easily more fucked than airfare. We ended up paying 700 CAD/night for a place in Montreal. It's only going to get worse if you haven't booked yet.

At least we got our airfare with points.

Try hotel;s.com or Hilton.com. I just took a quick look & found a Home2Suites out by the airport with a 9.2 user rating, for $155/night during the GP weekend. In my experience, they're excellent. Very clean. Nice beds & pillows. Firdge, Microwave, sink, dishes, & dishwasher

I leave that to the wife. She is coming and wants to stay in Old Town since she is not going to the race. Like I said, at least the flights were on points.

Yeah, got hotel booked the day I booked F1 tickets as the selection was already slim. Didn't want to wait. Found a spot on the backside of Mont Royal near the metro.

I saw the stuff near the airport for cheaper, but looks like there isn't an easy way from the airport to the city? There's a train, but then you have to get on the Metro. With the spot I found, it's half a block from the Metro.

Arrive Thursday around noon, so figure I will have Thursday afternoon, Friday morning, Saturday morning, to explore the city. Spend the afternoons and all day Sunday at the race.
