2022 Poker: Ship it!

I tend to agree. to have the wherewithal to set up an elaborate cheating  mechanism only to spring the trap as a slight underdog makes no fucking sense. If Garret spikes a club, J, or 3 after the money goes in, does he still quit the game if she shows her hand? I mean the fact that she lost the hand shouldn't change his thoughts on the matter.  Garrett is being a little bitch about the whole thing. I read he is up ~ $2 million just on the HCL live streams since they started that up. Loses $120K due a horrible play and starts rubbing sand all up in his vajine.

If he spikes those cards and wins, he doesn’t think she’s cheating via the method that lets her know the runout, so he may be more inclined to stay, but it does not remove the possibility that she knows his cards, so it would still be questionable to stay. Of course, Rip made that moot.

In the moment his suspicions were totally reasonable. I would guess by now he knows better.

there are literally cameras covering everywhere except the fucking bathroom.

How much of a blithering idiot do you have to be to take anything from a live streamed table poker stack.... let alone 15k????

and arent there RFID chips in every chip higher than 1k?  htf do you explain cashing in what I assumed had to be either two chips (10k 5k) or 3 5k chips at the cashier station.......... unless you are playing in a non streamed game where chip values that high are allowed on the table

Do more of these situations popping up make you feel less comfortable in playing in streamed games?

I don’t think she cheated, so not really. Postlegate was of course VERY concerning, but I think that put everyone on notice to look for out of line play. I’ve watched tons of hours of streams since and no one seems to god mode like Postle was. In hindsight, he was actually pretty fucking obvious.

All that said, I’ve had too many players in regular games comment about my play on streams and it makes me question playing them much more. Some of these dudes are clearly studying live stream players for tendencies.

$2/5. UTG1 limp. BTN (unknown young dude w $1500 behind) makes it $25. I’ve only been in a few orbits and have seen him do anything. Decide on just a call w AdQd in SB ($725 behind). UTG1 joins. $80 pot.

AcTc8h. Checks to BTN who $100. I call, UTG1 folds. $280 pot.

8d. Check, call $200. $680 pot.

3s. Check, he jams.

Call $400 or fold?

The employee who took the $15k potentially had access to the hole card info.

speculation. Say your part of the team involved in the cheating and the deal is that you get a percent of the winning. How do you feel when you see another person on the team literally give away a large amount, which takes away from your take? A loser like that might want to grab what they think is owed to them.

Also the story is that the employee owed money to other poker players so he quickly handed 10k in chips to them. He didn’t cash them or not all of them.

Misdeal? 3 of apples from the candy crush game?

If that's not 3c, I might find a call. Flop overbet is odd. Big combo draw maybe?

Fuck Tarrant county.

Oops. 3s

I call and he flips AK.

Maybe right play is to fold AQ unless you know opponent is aggro

Trying to see if my Omaha skills have actually improved at all, or not.

Finally started playing live again.

Been playing 1 /2  NL every 5 or 6 days or so at Red Star,  which now has 1 Omaha pot-limit double bomb pot every rotation.

For this hand the setup is I have a little bit above $550 in front.

Dynamic is really bizarre because at the other end of the table are 3 guys who are visiting from Cali, and have clearly never played live poker at anything other than a home game, classic newbies who will call just about every bet pre-flop as long as it isn’t all in.  obviously you want them there.

But you cannot bluff them, you have to have a better hand to win.

Example in a previous hand (not me)   NL board with 4 hearts on the board, The main newbie who originally limped for $2.  Called a $40 pre flop 3 bet OOP. The first raiser folded.

On that hand. its J high all heart flop..

Newbie check called with ZERO hesitation  $40 on flop $80 on an Ah (and 4th heart) turn, and called an all in on river, with a naked  J6o no heart, and the pair of jacks was good-  but that same guy also played an Omaha bomb pot thinking he had the nut flush with 4 spades on the board and he had a naked As.  And he never caught the Pot limit concept that cost him about $250.

The other 2 are similar in play.  They have all  re-bought a few times and the folks they lost to have moved to the other table so no one has more than $600.

So in this hand I am 2nd to act.  The new crew all act after me.

I am dealt Ac 5c 5s Jh

The top board flop is 8d Ad Js

The bottom board flop is 2c 3d 4s

So I have top 2 up top (which I fully realize isn’t a massive Omaha hand), but against random hands, combined with having 2nd nuts on the bottom, and having two of the critical cards needing to make any straight on that board, kind of has me thinking I am strong for now.

So it checks to me and I bet $35 (pot),  guy to my left makes it $70 started with around $300 (decent player but capable of making a move here).

Main newbie announces all-in (which hes actually sitting with $520--- hes got more than what the pot bet will be at that point), and before the dealer can even tell us what exactly the pot bet is, both of his buddies, in succession, announce all in for somewhere around $250 and $300.   Folds to me.

I mean this kind of action normally screams that someone, maybe 2 folks have 56 for sure on the bottom  and someone has a set of 8’s, or maybe 9,T, and at least 1 of the other paint cards and possibly 2 diamonds.

I could easily see someone with 2 mid-range diamonds and a pair on each board thinking that’s somehow good to run with.  I wouldn’t be shocked if someone had a naked 5 thinking they have an open end straight draw either.  and i guess someone who thinks A5 is the nuts on that board as well

I am drawing almost dead against 56.   I am not doing very well against something like 9TKQdd or even 88.    but I am dominating A8/J8.

But the pot now is clearly above $1k and if all 3 of us left to act play, its going to be upwards of $2k.  AND I have a bit more than $200 than everyone else except the newest newbie ($520).

I really really think the big stack newb has either misread his hand, or on a diamond draw with a random 2 pair…  If thats the case, I am sitting very well to scoop that extra $200, leaving me with a loss of maybe $125 max  but a possible stupid upside of ~$2k  (that would require me to boat up top and go runner runner clubs on bottom)… but its not outrageous to think.

So, my best read is I have the other larger stack newbie beat on both boards.   But probably drawing slim against the others without either mega help, or the newbs really having no idea how Omaha works.  I really cant discount the fact that I have two of the fives here.  which makes 56 possible... but much less likely.

With this crazy newbie table dynamic should I fold, ever?

Worst case is lose ~$525, most likely case is lose $125 (start with $550 end up with about $425) and best case is win a pot worth about $1900 (if everyone else left calls)

On the top, we’re probably needing another A or J. 6 outs on the flop is 25%, so 25% of the time we will win the top board.

On the bottom, someone will have 56 only like 8% of the time, so 92% of the time we’re ahead on bottom board and will win 2/3rds of the time vs what is probably at least one set. So we can say for the bottom board, we’re going to win that half of the pot 60% of the time. (That alone should prob justify your jam)

Overall, then, we expect to win 25% of $1000 plus 60% of $1000 (assuming pot will be $2k-ish), so we have $850 ev at a cost of whatever your shove is. Looks plenty good to me

FIFY,  only 4 more of those in the deck ;)

OK,  I am glad I through it through and having the two fives was the final reason to run with it.   so I shoved.

guy to my left folds.  and the original newb who said all in doesnt understand that he still has to call my bet... so that takes a minute or two to convince him hes got to say call.

final pot size was just a bit under $1700

orig newb gleefully announces hes got a straight on the bottom and a flush draw up top  and tables Ax 5x 7d 9d    that was a lot stronger than I hoped.  any 6 on the bottom also beats me.

takes the dealer a while to make sure the stacks are organized in front of everyone... meanwhile newb is super pumped.  he is begging for a diamond up top - His friends never table their hands, so I have no clue what they had.... so dealer finally starts putting out the rest of the cards.

and the very next card up top is a Diamond.... and hes all excited. (honestly not even sure if the 9 high flush is good against the other 2).... except..... yeah thats the J of diamonds on that board..... thats the nut boat for me.....

I dont say a word as hes cheering and then on the bottom board, the 10c hits.  so I am really watching these last 2 cards.

and thankfully (or in the case of the bottom board, sadly) both of the next 2 cards were blanks.   everyone else mucks.

we then had to explain the concept of quartering to him.   that wasnt easy.   but when it was all said and done.  I got somewhere around $1270 from the pot he got $422

I know he got $422 because the very next hand I am the BB, that same newb makes it $5, there are several callers and I look down and have AA!

This table is calling almost every pre flop bet so I make it $50, newb just shoves, everyone else folds, i obvi call.... hes got 99.

9 on flop and I never improve.    fickle poker gods.

that group gets up to leave a hand or 3 later and I leave almost immediately after.  I was in for $360 after buy ins and top offs so a +$480 day

High-stakes poker home games are notoriously rife with cheating and illicit activities, and Adelstein said he had a “really, really bad vibe” throughout the night. He believed the dealer was setting the deck in collusion with four players at the table, a suspicion that was heightened when his second-nut flush was beaten by the nut flush — the best possible five suited cards in a given hand. It’s a scenario that happens, “but quite rarely,” Adelstein said.

Lulz. Losing 2nd nut flush to nut flush happened to me the last fucking time I played at the lodge a week ago. Maybe I should have cried about it and asked for a sitdown with Doug Polk

Yesterday, with two players heads-up on the river, the out of position player bet about half pot on J-9-8-7-5 and then purposely showed his hand -- J-9 -- while the action was pending. Both players had a lot of money left.

The guy tanks. Then calls with a T.

Never seen anything like that in my life, and I can't figure it out. Was he trying to induce a bluff?
