2022 Poker: Ship it!

Ha, I was on youtube with the "live" filter last night  looking for hurricane feeds when YT suggested that stream, and I jumped on exactly at that moment. Ended up watching for about an hour because of who was at the table. There was over $3M on the table and some big hitters with Garret and Ivy at the table, but that Eric dude stole the show. Garret is a monster, but Eric was in his head a bit last night.

Here's some more table talk from Eric (should open at 3:58), dude was killing it last night while I was watching.

There's also some funny table talk in the hand at 3:40-ish when Persson has Andy in the tank.

Damn
The look on Garret's face as he tries to process what just happened is amazing.

I think he processed it almost immediately, which in itself is kind of amazing! I think most of us would cycle through embarrassment, laughing and confusion before starting to realize there’s no possible line that her play makes sense. He takes like 2 seconds to identify it

not sure how much Garrett just opened himself up to a lawsuit.   a BIG one if he has absolutely zero evidence other than intuition... yeah the play is fucked up. and she called with nothing other than 2 blocker cards for a single straight and then the two possible  2 flush draws.

Postle was shown to be almost assuredly cheating for months, yet he was never prosecuted and he kept the money.

the review of the entire rest of that stream is gonna be reviewed and picked over something fierce.  Garrett better hope they find consistent ample evidence that she kept escaping making a call with the worst hand the entire stream.

Why?  She chose to give him the money at the end.  What is she going to sue him for?  Breach of contract because he agreed to return to the stream after RIP went nuts?

IMHO - one of the biggest things of note so far - RIP was backing her.

I guess defamation because he called the person a cheater in the tweet.  Ultimately, his evidence is all the poker players who would never call there.  She lied repeatedly after the fact.  I don't think she cheated IMHO.  After the fact I think she just lied to try to make her play make more sense than it did.  But I don't think she ever sues him for defamation.

I'm not sure what I understand less. The call if she wasn't cheating or her GIVING THE FUCKING MONEY BACK if she wasn't cheating. They are in a casino. No one can make you give them money. Security is everywhere. Crazy. Based on RIPs reaction and what she said on twitter I guess Garrett could have 'strong armed' her. But again, it's inside the casino....

I am no lawyer, lots of lawdogs on here. but pretty sure telling everyone (in writing) that she had to be cheating to make that call there... that is my understanding of libel barring no other evidence to come to his defense....

the trick is she would have to file the lawsuit, and be subject to discovery motions and depositions where their lawyer can basically ask almost anything in her entire life that has any slight corollary to the idea that he called her a cheat.... if she ever got arrested for something as stupid as shoplifting, that can be harped on. plus all kinds of direct hypothetical "were you cheating" questions, along with a very, very specific set of questions asking her to verbally explain her decision making actions  and then of course they could use all the verbal judo nonsense she tried to explain it away in the live stream recording to be used as an anti-explanation

"you said it did it this way on the stream, now you are saying what you really thought was this... which is completely opposite what you said. were you lying then, or are you lying now????"

and her then having to do a counter-argument to a jury try to get them to understand the nuance that flat out lying is not only allowed on a poker table, its almost encouraged in large high stakes games.

I’ve moved to the she wasn’t cheating camp. I think she’s just illogical in her perceived playing beef with GA and she took a stand in the worst possible way and luckboxed into a win.

I think GA is inclined to think a play at this level is either dumb, logical or cheating, and he knows she’s not dumb, leaving cheating as the only option.

In the heat of it, he thought he was being scammed and snap called her offer to repay. He’s probably regretting it now.

I’d guess he gives it back and they try to put this behind them quietly

the other point that heavily leans on the her not actually cheating defense:

the call was effectively a 50/50 flip at that point.

you would assume if she WAS cheating with a partner who knew the hands, why in the fuck would the partner buzz her to make an additional $100k call where  the person cheating KNOWS the chances to lose are still almost 50%?   thats an addtl 100k at risk on an almost perfect coinflip for no fucking reason.

get her involved in another hand thats gone to the river and tell her to make a fucking hero call when you know she wins.    plus why the fuck would she play for 11 hours on the stream before getting into a mega pot with GA?  if you are targeting him and cheating, you would do it much fucking sooner.

although.. that point above was kind of answered by GA who thinks that someone who hacked the cards,  would also somehow already know what the next card will be....

serious question though... its not like the 5th card was on the table where it could have been read.  it was still in the dealers hand with the rest of the non-discarded deck.

the RFID chip readers cant distingish the top card only from a stack of RFID chip cards, this isnt like online poker where the 5 community cards have already been "dealt" by the server, just not revealed until/if needed.   where if someone hacked a specific online companies servers, then they would know what all 5 cards would be letting them know if they were winning or losing every hand at the end.

that of course would be the holy grail of hacking a poker site.

until the site figured out that your win percentage was 20 standard deviations better than any other poker players and ban you

Theory on 2+2 that she may have seen a flash of his cards and saw two low clubs so figured she was ahead.

Would explain a lot of things. Why her story kept changing as she didn't want to admit it, giving money back as she felt guilty about seeing the cards...

She's in the two seat and he's in the eight seat.   More likely is RIp saw it and somehow signaled her.

As for the libel lawsuit potential, Garrett's attorney would be remised to point out that she is a public figure.  With the notoriety of the hand and her social media presence, she has the ability to defend herself.  I think I fall on side she cheated. "Thought you had ace high", she'd be dominated.  "I had blockers" well how would you know what hand you are blocking? "I thought I had J3". She takes a like 4 looks at her cards during the hand and time extension.

I doubt there will ever be proof either way, and I imagine Garrett splits the money with her or something as a compromise.

I mean, why if she knows the cards/runouts would she have gotten it in on previous hands drawing literally dead?

Just to set up her BIG MOMENT of getting it in with 47% equity, and also agreeing to run it twice, so whatever cheat she has would have to know the second card after the natural river?

It just makes no logical sense whatsoever.

My best guess is she has some sort of read/tell on Garrett when he's bluffing/semi-bluffing and obviously doesn't want to say that and give it away, so comes up with other nonsense.

My second-best guess is she just decided "he doesn't have anything, I'm tired of him running over me/the table" and called without pondering the equity of her nothing. I've seen plenty of players call in spots saying "I didn't think he had anything" or "I thought he was bluffing" when they literally can't even beat a bluff.

My THIRD-best guess is she was remembering the J3 hand she had the literal hand before. She said when she was looking back she was checking to see if the J was a club.

I just can't find any reason to have an amazing elaborate cheating system set up and you only use it to get in on the slightly bad side of a coinflip.

Yeah, in their analysis lots of poker pros are applying the wrong standard, in my opinion.

I tend to agree. to have the wherewithal to set up an elaborate cheating  mechanism only to spring the trap as a slight underdog makes no fucking sense. If Garret spikes a club, J, or 3 after the money goes in, does he still quit the game if she shows her hand? I mean the fact that she lost the hand shouldn't change his thoughts on the matter.  Garrett is being a little bitch about the whole thing. I read he is up ~ $2 million just on the HCL live streams since they started that up. Loses $120K due a horrible play and starts rubbing sand all up in his vajine.
