Jokic is a better defender than Lebron and Luka?  I wouldn't think that's close to true.  I do agree that Giannis and JOkic are the clearloy best 2 players in the league, but my point was the one guy who could take over a series like them IS Luka.

We were talking about Giannis vs LBJ/Luka.   Not even sure where Jokic came from in the conversation but are you saying Giannis cant take over a series??

Harden just doesn't have that competitive drive, playoff gear, or whatever you want to call it. He plays the exact same way he does on a Tuesday night in February, and seems to expect he'll get the same level of effort reciprocated from his opponent, and the same treatment he gets from officials.

Or maybe he knows he doesn't have it and just doesn't care.

That James Harden contract situation is going to be fascinating to watch this offseason. He's got a $47 million option for next year. He could have extended for $50+ million per year for three more years after next season, but I can't imagine Philly is going to want to sign up for anything close to that.

Maybe that series turns out differently if Embiid isn't hurt, but can we safely call the process a flop? They completely tanked for half a decade and haven't made it out of the second round.

You forgot Daryl Moron is their GM.

All that fucking flailing and flopping by Embiid has cost them Green.   I've never seen a big on the floor as much as he is.   Most of the time for no real reason.

He was terrible (for a mvp runner up), and can blame the injury, but isn’t he always injured?

He needs a big to do the dirty work. He’s Anthony Davis part 2 imo

Remember they signed Horford to do that and before they got halfway through the first season they were complaining that Horford wasnt doing enough and he was getting in Embiid's way.

Celtics shoot their 1st free throw with 6:37 left in 2nd qtr...   WOW

2nd free throw taken at 1:46 left 2nd qtr.

Just determined to win from 3 pt line. Hard to do in 4th qtr when legs get tired.

  • Giannis had 17pts in 1st, only 4pts in 2nd qtr.
  • Smart with good 1st half  -- 16pts
  • Tatum with 18 pts

Celtics started dropping of Giannis in 2nd qtr hoping he would shoot more jump shots and it worked.

No pts for Horford, and 8pts Jaylen Brown.

Holiday w/12pts, Lopez 6pts

Do the Celtics have an offensive gameplan other than keep launching 3's and hope they start falling ahain?

They have done that all game -- at least in the 2nd half they are driving to the basket and getting a few points in the paint...

How does Giannis take 5 steps on that “great offensive spin move” and they show the replay and none of the announcers even point it out?  Are they afraid to say maybe the MVP just travelled instead of gushing over the great move that was an obvious travel?  The NBA can be a joke sometimes.

Yeah that was traveling... but nobody calls it on Giannis

Holy smokes Tatum. Bill Simmons is going to be intolerable

It's going to be something like "I was trying to think of better elimination games for the Celtics and I really couldn't think of many. This may be a top 5 or top 10 Celtics playoff performance of all time."

On Mark Jackson:

https://www.si.com/nba/lakers/news/lakers-former-espn-writer-drops-bombshell-report-about-mark-jackson-ee21?utm_source=reddit.com

On Tuesday, Substack's Ethan Strauss, formerly of ESPN, provided some details that may explain Jackson's lengthy absence from the NBA coaching ranks. Strauss outlined a story that wasn't published in ESPN The Magazine due to Jackson's stature as a commentator for the worldwide leader in sports. Strauss stated the story contained the following:

Quote

-Extensive reporting on the cult-like "us against them" atmosphere Jackson had cultivated, in which he regularly demeaned the bosses to those with the locker room

-Allegations that Jackson had, in his final days with the team, ramped up the religious rhetoric in ways that were increasingly extreme and divisive

-How Mark had, according to sourcing, accused underlings of "being influenced by the devil," inspiring Jackson to "lay hands on them to cleanse them of their evil spirits."

-Two sources relaying that Jackson had referred to Jason Collins and team president Rick Welts, both openly gay, as "penis grabbers" who were "going to hell."

Strauss explained that ESPN has "tried to keep quiet" the details of the story that was never printed.
