Liverpool FC 2022-2023: And Now Jurgen Believe Us

I’m curious whether this is any indicator that we may let Bobby walk. Gakpo really feels like a true CF (although much taller!) akin to how Bobby played for Hoffenheim + LFC in his prime. If he comes back on a trim deal for his twilight years, we would seemingly have an embarrassment of riches at forward. Now we just need 2+ midfielders between the January and July transfer windows…

Here's a nice comp of some Gakpo goals, mostly because it lacks the shit ass music you normally get with these:

He looks incredibly two-footed and seems like his primary position is on the left of a front three. Perfect fill-in while Luchito is out and could definitely provide competition when he's back. He's fast as hell and has great feet for a dude who's so big.

What a nice surprise after a fun win today.

I know it's inevitable but I hope we don't let Bobby walk this quickly. He's always been the straw that stirs the drink and has been pretty effective this year.

OBSERVATIONS:

1) Gakpo sure as fuck likes to bank in goals off the post. That precision is brutal on opposing keepers.

2) I see why Ricardo Pepi has been scoring like a machine since landing in the Netherlands… their keepers are pure shit and their defenders tell the keepers to “hold their beers”.

I guess that every Dutch guy with hand-eye coordination and depth perception plays Netball.

3) Gakpo is going to be fun to watch with Liverpool. Some of that footwork was quite fancy and he can then crush the ball into the back of the net.

with Diaz and Jota out for an extended period I think this is a smart buy. We need a LW and looks like he isn’t afraid to curl one in cutting inside. He also can play multiple positions when everyone gets up to full fitness.
