I am in NYC and wanted to go to the qualifying days this past weekend (Tuesday-> Sunday we’re all free qualifying days), but was otherwise preoccupied these past two days, so I thought that I would pick up a ~$70 grounds pass.

HOLY FUCK was I mistaken!

Tickets are mid $100s and up!!

That’s in part due to The BLOAT playing tonight on Arthur Ashe followed by Nick Kyrgios playing his Special K buddy, Kokkinakis after that.

Great 11:00am matches on numbered courts: Sebastian Korda, Tommy Paul, Taylor Fritz ms be the 2nd or 3rd up, but the tickets are insane.

I just watched Mannarino on the practice courts about 30 minutes ago.

Mainly doubles and fringe players on outside practice courts. Better know players can get time on courts inside the grounds.

I still haven’t bought a ticket yet, but I’ll likely snag an Ashe stadium ticket after 6pm. One nose bleed dropped from $127 or $126 to $119 and it was snatched up in seconds. Probably by someone already inside the grounds.

I can’t say I’ve watched a ton of tennis but Serena hitting one serve out then the next three straight in the net doesn’t seem ideal.

It's not, but she made up for it with two aces.  So there's that.

Just turned on the TV and the slobbering over Serena is bad.

She’s the best woman player ever but these announcers sound like junior high girls

The slobbering her in the Ashe is over-the-top as well

Lots of noise mid-point

Have no idea why Kovinic is employing this “strategy”. She should be drop-shotting or the shit out of this match when she isn’t taken plenty off of her forehand crosscourt shots so that they don’t go over the baseline

I early in the first set I thought that Serena would lose the match, but Danika seems pretty slow on the up-take and Serena may just squeeze out the win. If it goes back I 3, she’s toast.

Was that Mike Tyson sitting next to Martina? Random.

Bill Clinton and Dr. Ruth?

Saw Martina play at SMU in the ‘80s, saw Clinton at Meechum Field (?:.. Fort Worth) after midnight in the wee hours before he was elected in ‘92, and sold something to Dr. Ruth  in a museum shop a year or two after. She is absolutely tiny! (And that was nearly 30 years ago.)

Dr. Ruth looked me in the eye (No “Key & Peele”) and said…

”You’re a very good salesman.”

Hard to imagine Serena no longer in the picture. So dominant for such a long time. I’m trying to get jazzed about the latest crop of womens tennis players but I’m just kinda meh about all of them…

Serena has been out of the scene for a couple of years now.

…but she just won a match I thought that she’d lose.

They thought that Serena was going to lose.

Gail from CBS this Morning, then Billie Jean King, then Gail again, and now a video narrated by Oprah.

NEWSFLASH: She didn’t lose!

Let’s get on to the next match!

And then Gail’s words & boobs again.

My god, this is not an exhibition match! It is the first match of the first night of the last major of the year.

NO! Someone said “BLOAT”, Gail.

Holy F!!!  🤬🤬

Whole thing was cringeworthy and if you’re going to ask her a question don’t interrupt her answer!

In the first game, on the 3rd or 4th point, Kyrgios:
- served a let
- served a second let
- served a third time, hit a rally or two and won the point…

…all in 31 seconds.

It takes longer than that just for Rafa to hit the 2nd serve.

Nick is so good it is nuts.

He's serving up one of those bonzer salads!

That's the kind of shit I post when I'm drunk.  Which I'm not.  Dammit

Sound up, someone had a real bad day at the office.

Her gamesmanship needs to be addressed this off-season and clear rules need to be put in place regarding:

-WHEN you can call the trainer.

-HOW LONG you can take a bathroom break.

-HOW LONG you can whine to a chair umpire  and…

-HOW MANY TIMES you can whine to a chair umpire.

….before the penalties start.
