Meant to type this up after the late March tournament in Austin, but lost track of time.   I'm pretty sure I wrote something like the following… And if I didn't do it here, I'll claim I did

This is rather massive, our biggest weakness all season was 1s. Will be interesting to see who she pairs with if we don't grab anyone else.

S Car, and GCU are beatable. I guess we chose to align with the other SEC schools

The Grand Canyon beach volleyball program will transition to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation beginning in the 2024-25 academic year, joining a newly formed and regionalized beach volleyball conference with nationally competitive programs.

GCU will join six schools who are departing members of the Pac-12 Conference including California, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC and Washington.

A player on Boise State's beach volleyball team is going viral. I don't need to point out which player it is

Yowza.

Going to kill a couple hours at TCU's courts tomorrow, hopefully some of our girls are in action at the time. No real official schedule is out there, basically just round robin scrimmages with Houston Christian & A&M-CC too.

Carys Patton, left in pic 1, hasn't really played competitively in 2 years.

Any relation to Ava?

One small hint?

Yes.

Why didn't she play for two years? And is she better than Ava?

She was too young to crack TCU’s squad in ‘23, redshirted like most of our girls last season.

Hopefully she’s better, Ava should be playing line 4 at best on a real roster.

Saw their first set against TCU. Redhead is a freshman from the Netherlands, may eventually be our best player. She's #11 on the roster, but Chloe's dad said her 11 jersey didn't fit.

Didn't see a Beach Volleyball Recruiting thread.

Do you expect the team to be competitive this year or are they still a ways away?

No, they’re not much better skill-wise than last year. All the extra practice time for the redshirts will certainly help, but this is still a roster without much top-end talent. Top 12-15 is likely their ceiling.

There’s really only 5 schools in this sport: USC, UCLA, FSU, LSU, TCU. Sometimes another CA school will sneak in around there. TCU has the best pair in the nation, so they’re basically starting every dual up 1-0. USC is still the champs until someone proves otherwise.

How long has TCU had their program?

2015, but their current coach took over two years later. He's from the Canary Islands & Tenerife, his top assistant from Guatemala, so you'll hear as much Spanish as English at their tourneys. That's why they have the stud Olympic pair, they've known them since they were young.

Would being a #12 team this year, let’s say, be a victory or a disappointment?

I’ll be in Tenerife next summer. I was already planning on doing plenty of scouting on the beaches, but if y’all need me to head down to the courts to watch a bunch of Spanish women jump around in bikinis and report back, I think I could squeeze that in. Anything to help the program..

We’ll be at TCU on March 7-8 with FSU, FAU, & Boise (the goth chick).

Noted.  I'll try to swing out there for it.  Hopefully our schedule is released soon.  Last year, we tried piecing it together as other schools released their schedules.

Both U18 and U22 European Champions! That's impressive!

Continuing to piece our schedule together as other teams post their schedules.  Thanks to Shadow for getting the ball rolling.

Mar 7-8 Fort Worth

TCU, FSU, FAU, & Boise

Mar 21-22 Austin

LSU, ASU, Georgia State

Apr 4-5 Tallahassee

FSU, LSU, USCe, USF, FAU

Apr 25-26 Baton Rouge

CCSA Championship

Not sure exactly when this happened but Audrey Jackson flipped her commitment to play for Indiana indoor and signed with them

I might be able to make it up to Manhattan Beach in March and then Huntington Beach if we are able to make it to Nationals

Didn't realize their badass new locker room is in DKR, so they better be relatively close.

Yeah, I heard rumors of over across I-35 but I'm not sure there's much room there. I guess we'll find out this year. Hosting tournaments at the IM fields kinda sicks

Clark field would be a great spot but they'd get huge pushback from the ultimate Frisbee faction.

Well shit. When I live in Pensacola, we're just starting our program. First year in Cali, and it's going back.

I've still got a house in Pensacola and a ton of friends in Gulf Shores... Maybe I'll decide to be back in the area that weekend, we'll see. There's always next year!
