On the completely opposite end of the spectrum, went to catch some live music at Feels So Good on Saturday... I'm planning on checking more shows out... typically 2-3 bands, $8-10 a show and they have free drinks since they're sponsored by 512 Tequila, Deep Eddy, etc.  Not a bad place to catch a show with some up and comers...

Some examples...

To follow up, M83 was a fine show (90 minutes) with no sign of illness for Gonzalez. He didn't make much audience talk, but I've never seen them so maybe that's just his nature.

Also, Tuesday (4/25) at Parish in Austin is Black Belt Eagle Scout, a band I've mentioned before though Surly might not exactly be the audience. Indigenous female led folk/rock. Lots of catchy riffs at the live show.

Ha!  My daughter was the drummer for Sludge until she moved on.  The "referee" in Die Spitz' video for "Hair of Dog" is in fact Molly, the singer for Sludge.  They have talent, I look forward to seeing them soon.

I thought someone looked familiar in this... really catchy song.   You going to go?

Wow, I've never seen that video.  It's pretty good for zero budget.  That's my daughter's Volvo.  Feels like I spend half my free time working on that fucking thing.  Well, I mostly watch my mechanic friend Norm work on that fucking thing.

Thursdays are typically bad for me, I don't think I'll be able to make that show.

LOL... that's really funny and so completely random.  So, I pay attention to FSG's shows and then pop any names I don't know into Spotify.  That's the only song they have in Spotify.  Anyway, I'm going to see if I can get any of my lameass friends to go to the show.  Sounds like it will be worth it.  Really can't seem to find anything else about Sludge online save for a couple of random interviews.

Man I had tix for that tour then it was covid postponed a couple times. Finally they booked this date but I had to leave town for work. Dammit.

Glad you enjoyed the show though. Maybe I can catch them somewhere else.

I was pretty close to you. Did you see the dude fall and go unresponsive for about 30 seconds? Great show though. Wasn’t expecting 3 hours.

I must have missed it.  Was it post Stroker Ace?  There was a rather big dude, who was really fucked up and kept slamming into everyone from behind us.  He gave of "first beer" vibes.  If it was he, I'm not surprised and will assume it wasn't my cold, dead stare that put a stop to his repeated space invasion.

Hadn't been to the Paramount in forever but went last night to see the new pornographers. It's such an intimate theater and not a bad place to see a rock show - despite it not catering to that type of even much. They were good and their opener wild pink was pretty solid as well. KUT does a whole concert series there but from what I could tell I think most of their schedule would put me to sleep.

The friend I stayed with while I was in Dallas last night raved about that show. Sounds like it was a good one.

Their (The New Pornographers) new album is great. Listening through it as I type as it piqued some interst last night. I made a post on the new music thread as well with a couple tracks linked if anyone's curious.

They're one of if not my dad's favorite band(s) -  who's a better person than I am as well as a UT grad unlike myself. He had a spare ticket and I ended up joining him.

We had a good time. Very relaxed venue - which is nice when it's a Tuesday and the opener doesn't go on until 9:30 and you have work at 8.

At 77, Iggy Pop absolutely destroyed it. Incredible front man, and having a rhythm section with Duff McKagan and Chad Smith didn't hurt. So glad I caught this show.

16yo me got in a fight with Iggy back in 1987.

Couldn't disagree more, terrible place to see a rock show. tiny seats/aisles, awful bar setup, not enough bathrooms, uptight old lady ushers roaming the aisles, not conducive at all to standing up during the show. for the most part i actively avoid shows at the paramount and bass.

GA-20 in Dallas at Sundown beside Granada.  They put on a really good show. They had a few local guitarist friends who came up on stage and played a couple songs. Guitarist walked around the venue and up to the bar whilst playing one song. Very engaging and friendly with the audience. Vibe was like a local bar band in front of the regulars rather than a band on a national tour. Highly recommend.

Wait for fan2fan to open in May. I got great seats for face to 3 shows last year with just a little effort.

Dumb question amnesty - what is fan2fan? When I google it, it appears to be a software development shop as opposed to a marketplace.

We had great seats and it was the type of band that lent itself towards the venue. Both of those things probably helped. It also wasn't totally packed so the bathroom and bar lines weren't that bad at all.

All I said was it isn't bad. I'd see the right kind of band there again.

I signed up through verified fan and got Wednesday tickets in FW. The site had a bit of a meltdown at 10, but I got tickets. I've had great luck with PJ tickets since you had to call a random number back in the 90s when they were fighting with Ticketmaster.
