True, but if she notified the Spurs of what was happening and they kept scheduling them to meet? There are so many possibilities of imbecilic behavior on the Spurs front. But yes, in a perfect world, take yourself out of the toxicity.

Sure, but she's not some intern or lower level employee, or even an employee at all, technically. She never had to take those meetings and it may have even been unethical for her to do so. That's the interesting angle to all of this, to me at least. She's a psychiatric medical professional and she has professional / ethical obligations to the client and to herself. If she thinks there is some pathology involved, then isn't she supposed to do something medically about it? Like, refer out to another therapist or specialist?

Making sure that the next meeting is in a public space doesn't sound very fucking professional to me. What kind of mental health professional holds client meetings in public? How on earth is that appropriate? "Hey, whaddya say we do your next session at Starbucks where other people can eavesdrop and so you won't be tempted to whip it out, K?" And again, I'm not trying victim shame here but I'm not so sure that the Spurs were the only ones here who didn't follow protocol on this. Maybe there were reasons other than Primo that she didn't get her contract renewed?

It's not super clear to me who knew what, when they knew it, when they should have known about it, and how they should have figured it out. Clearly the ball was dropped at some point, but I'm very interested in knowing the details and timing.

I'm pretty sure at least two balls were dropped.

Starbucks is just an aphrodisiac to Josh.

I mean, yes it's unacceptable to have to see a penis while at work but like you said most people who deal with mental health or even just in the healthcare field in general usually see much worse on a daily basis and its just treated as a common hazard of the profession. Probably the fact that it's a major sports team with a lot of credibility should change the workplace hazards, but remember he's seen as a million dollar investment whereas she's just a replaceable 1099 shrink. Of course they are going to bend over backwards to avoid having to cut him, and of course they are less attached to her than they are to him. Or they were before she lawyered up.

Plus he was still a teenager right? Probably kind of a boundary-pushing shithead? Used to being a BMOC in the SEC? Lottery pick? Big ego?

I just think that if you are going to work around pro athletes you are probably going to see men in varying states of undress, and if you are working near their locker rooms you can't act surprised if you see some penis.

If he was intentionally whipping it out, or abusing his power within the organization, that's totally different and should have been dealt with. Which is why I am very interested in the timing and details of who knew what and when they knew it and when they should have figured it out and how

Did RC or Pop know? It seems unlikely that they wouldn't know.

Situation seems pretty fucked all around.

I'd be borderline devastated to learn that Pop knew and went along. My hope is he finally found out a couple of weeks ago and demanded that Primo be axed... but that's wishful.

Same. I want to believe the same.

I would go with “whip it out for Wemby.”

@Kermit you sure you can’t change it? You are logged in when you tried?

Aside: I know this is patronizing like when my wife says she can’t get something electric to work and I ask her if it’s plugged in. I apologize in advance.

It’s a fair question. Yes, I’m sure. I believe I’ll ask our bearded, roundish leader for assistance.

I would be shocked if they didn't find out at some point..... especially RC.  Both may be smart enough to have plausible deniability though.  And perhaps them finding out was the change in tack here.  I said it when this came out..... this type of thing, pick, transaction could be a GM killer and it may well be so.  Bryan Wright may be seen in Brooklyn, looking for a nice brownstone.

That's a horrible fucking call.

Why do we have like 12 women refs in the NBA, btw? Can we have this discussion? We went from 1 to a bunch extremely quickly. That doesn't seem like a meritocracy.

Just be thankful that Primo isn’t around the good looking refs.

I don't think she is a Medical Professional.  I could be wrong, but I think is a Doctor of Psychology, not Psychiatry.

I don't want to go necessarily go there, but should we be asking what this team would look like if they hadn't traded Dejounte? I mean, I don't think they are a contender with him or anything and maybe they are playing such a freewheeling, open style because he was so ball dominant, but it does make me wonder a bit. That's kind of a salty team between the improvement we've seen from Vassell and KJ, plus the addition of Sochan. Speaking of, if Sochan can fix his springer, he's going to be a force. He's already so smart on both ends of the court and makes so many underrated plays. Love his game.

Fair enough, she can't prescribe but that's splitting hairs. She's a licensed mental health provider. She still has ethical and professional standards that she is held to. Her literal job is to treat behavioral problems.

We're better without DJ. He was holding KJ and Vassell back.

KJ's shot selection is awful. He's never going to be a star. Jury is still out for Vassell.

Is this sarcasm?

No - it isn't. We are short on guards. Rich playing point with the 2nd unit is a great coaching move and it worked fairly well.

No, no it didn’t. What was funny was right after you posted that he had another horrible turnover.

Pop should retire and Buford should move along, their best days are far behind both of them. I can't even begin to figure out why Pop is still here in the midst of a rebuild. He should've been gone the season after the nephew was dealt away. The Spurs were once the model franchise of the NBA, now they're just a joke in so many ways. They're bad on the court, got all kinds of drama going on behind the scenes. They made so many questionable and terrible acquisitions that fucked the team, talking about overpaying for washed up bums like Pau Gasol for example.

Dude. They were the best organization in sports that competed for championships consistently for damn near 30 years. Nobody, I mean nobody, in professional sports has a run like that. And if the nephew wasn't such a piece of crap, you could have extended that out probably to 40 years. They are due for a rebuilding period. They aren't immune to father time or the machinations of professional basketball that promote parity. But even through all that, they have still managed to produce a watchable, likeable product on the court, without multiple years of completely bottoming out. They aren't a contender but they are hardly an embarrassment on the court.

With regard to the off the court stuff, I'm going to wait and see what comes out of all of this before passing judgment about their being a joke of a franchise. If you want to go ahead and take the word of a tank driving whore mongering dirtbag self-promoting money grubbing aggie lawyer and a sub-contracted licensed Ph.D. mental health professional who didn't have enough common sense or professional ethics to stop seeing a client who was inappropriate with her 9 different times (allegedly), over an organization with a reputation and culture that almost every other NBA franchise has tried to replicate, primarily by hiring away their talent... be my guest. In one corner, you have Gregg Popovich. In the other, Tony Buzbee. I know which guy I'm riding with.
