everything is about money and ratings - but - this 3 game series bullshit needs to be abolished.  STL wins their division after 162 grueling games and it outed in a 3 game series. Too much playoff expansion, only have 1 WC team per league, no WC round and the next round needs to be 7 games.  Four teams per league is plenty enough.

Getting strong vibes that CLE beats NYY.

Cards division wasn't exactly "grueling" with two 100 loss teams plus the Cubs. And they were sputtering down the stretch anyway. Both them and Toronto got taken down on their home field by teams coming off decade-long playoff droughts. Games were exciting. Final week of regular season had more intrigue. WC round was awesome

162 games and a 3 game series are very disproportionate. Suppose it was just 1 game, wouldn't that be even more exciting? If all we need is intrigue, why not expand the playoffs to 14 or 16 teams? More fan interest across the nation and all first rounds are 1 game or even 7 inning games.  So complex and fascinating.

3 game home series to the higher ranked team has worked perfect, every one of them has been great to watch which is what it is all about from a fan perspective.

StL was 53-28 at home, had it under control, stupidly let Helsley go too long for the way he was pitching with no backup plan ready to go, and still had Yadi at the plate with a chance to tie it back up. Managers overthinking in the playoffs is always fun to watch.

The Mets losing today would be a much larger issue than StL losing to a pretty good Phillies team, but again they had it lined up in their favor and Scherzer shit the bed. Burning Diaz yesterday may come back to haunt them.

It will be interesting to see how the next series are impacted by the rest and three of these teams coming off of 2 game sweeps.

This was good for baseball. The sport had to expand the postseason to this amount. I hope the Division Series games are good. I have friends and co-workers that are fans of the Dodgers, Phils, Atlanta, Yanks and somehow one guy who wears a Padres hat to work each day. Playoff baseball is both unpredictable and cool. I’d love for the Yanks to get to the ALCS so I can fly my mother up to watch them, but if Cleveland wins it’s cool. That’d be great for their fanbase to get back to the ALCS.

This year would have been a good year to skip the playoffs and just have the Astros and Dodgers play a best of 21 over the course of 25 or so days.

no, they should only play a 3 inning game to decide it all.  With a 15 second pitch count, but have a 30 minute commercial break between half innings.
