I quibble with the phrase "the planet will not survive."  The planet is a big rock that has been through some pretty catastrophic shit, multiple extinction events, etc., and it's still spinning and orbiting the sun.

The planet will, in the long run, be fine.  We humans, and the current ecosystem that we depend on, may be turbofucked, though.  And as a human, that causes me significant concern.  Because I like our planet.  But I REALLY like that I can live on it.  If that changes, then I'm gonna be fucked, as are my descendants.

It's a movie quote.

I agree that the planet--and life--will find a way to persist until our sun enters its red giant phase, so perhaps the character should have said, "the planet as we know it ... " or something to that effect. However, sometimes, it's better to let the humorless pedants be damned and lend to brevity.

Somebody already made a movie about the missing snow crabs?

With football back to sucking shit and the Astros in the Series, I've got baseball on the mind.  Hadn't seen this thread in awhile and did a double-take, "The 1b's name is Missing Snow"?  Manny Mota, Mota, Mota........

Long read below but scientists are saying basically warmer waters increased the crabs’ metabolism making them eat more and they eventually they all starved to death when the food ran out. Cod took care of the rest.

Dammit. Cannibal crabs was way more fun. And then I was hoping they would grow into an unstoppable crab army and consume us all.

Fucking Jeff Foxworthy and those Golden Corral ads.  That ferret on his upper lip is convincing and devastating to the environment.  When anthropologists 1000s of years from now study to determine our downfall, I hope they come to the conclusion that the beginning of the end was here.
