Arkansas at Texas 3pm radio only (link provided)

I'm hoping/expecting the radio link will play when the game comes on.

I'm incredibly disappointed it's not going to show on the LHN. I have to believe that was an NCAA thing, as opposed to a sell more tickets thing. I saw the Tennessee v Gonzaga scrimmage up in Frisco, TX last night was streamed on pay per view. Guess they got some kind of waiver that LHN didn't qualify for, either because of the pay per view status or the neutral site. For those who care Tennessee obliterated Gonzaga 99-80 in a scrimmage that featured two opponents Texas will eventually face.

If anyone going to the scrimmage can provide any and all thoughts, it would be much appreciated.

Ron Holland, the 5 star power forward who was high school teammates with Arkansas player Anthony Black, will be in the building.

Here's a mildly snarky story about Arkansas's Jordan Walsh. Seems that Beard brought him in for a visit and told him he could potentially be the first player to score in Moody Arena. Walsh quips it looks like that still might happen.

Here's the radio link for people like me who won't be at the game but still want to follow along the best they can:

I honestly don't care about the result, other than it's Arkansas. I'd like to see tough man to man defense on the perimeter, some athletic plays, and the ability to beat a defender off the dribble. The rest I assume will be a work in progress. Oh, and no injuries.

@HtownHorn posted on the recruiting board that Gerry Hamilton put in a prediction for Holland to Texas this morning.

He might as well have announced for Texas as far as I'm concerned.

Just posting it here because Holland will be in the building and we're playing Arkansas, the chief competitor for his services.

I have a question that may be relevant to our interests. Will they be selling beer?

I'm betting they will, and it will be incredibly expensive.

I don't know how I forgot how much I do not like Eddie Oran's hesitant, stuttering, mumbly delivery, but here we are, and I am forcefully reminded.

I'm also reminded at how embedded Craig Way's voice is with my UT fandom. I honestly feel like I take him for granted, and then I'm forced to experience someone like Galindo. It's God's way of sending the strongest signal possible of how bad it could be.

Eddie Oran already has Rice at 6'6 in the pregame.

Craig Way talking about Alex Anamekwe stealing the ball against Westlake in the state tournament to knock them out of the Final Four. And yes, he used their mascot name. Craig Way's signature. No one in this state knows more high school mascots than Craig Way, and that's a fact.

Oran talks about how Mitchell can rest his head on the rim. To take a nap, Eddie? I don't even understand what we're trying to say here, other than he can jump high.

Interesting comments from Beard regarding his relationship with Kelvin Sampson. Said he grew to know Sampson while coaching at Seminole Junior College and Sampson was at OU recruiting some of his players.

Said he's done a scrimmage against Sampson's team for the last 5 years. I didn't remember one last year, which means nothing.

Craig Way told Beard the two of them (Beard/Sampson) got together afterwards to go over what happened during the scrimmage in an effort to help each other improve. You could say he asked him about it, but Craig Way never asks questions. He just makes statements then waits for the response.

Have a long ways to go to build a basketball culture here. That's okay. It's going to get better. I'm glad you and shadow_operative are there.

Brock Cunningham is the new Brian Boddicker- pick and pop specialist/dirty worker who other fan bases swear has been here for 7 years. he's going to help with our shooting numbers this year for sure.

That's a great comparison. Boddicker was a bigger body, better rebounder, but Cunningham is trickier, with more hustle plays. Also, Boddicker played way more minutes than Cunningham is going to get.

But they both have that quality that just gets on other teams/fans skin. Apparently Cunningham might be at Texas another year after this one. They were saying in the pre game he has his degree and is enrolled in a 2 year grad program.

Apparently Mitchell with a heck of a block.

UT will force YouTube to shut it down …

But I've already personally seen it, so I'm good. Otherwise I never would have.

I will say I see plenty of highlights of the Texas basketball team by third parties, so I don't think it's as automatic as you think it is.

we hardly had a tough look in the offensive end during the 1H. everything was open jumpers and point blank bunnies. and we looked particularly smooth and in rhythm considering how frequently we were subbing guys in and out. honestly that was a great 1H of basketball for this year. love what i'm seeing.

I'm shocked at how much more in system Texas appears than Arkansas. I know the Razorbacks brought in 11 new players.

One of the things I wanted to reply to in the bitterwhiteguy thread is that we can complain about the lack of 3 point shooting on this team all we want, but there is something of a comparative analysis needed. The strength of Beard's positionless switching defense is his emphasis on pressuring the 3 point line. Not necessarily in producing a low percentage of shooting, but preventing teams from taking the 3 point shot in the first place. The negative on that is I doubt we'll see Beard double the post ever.

Arkansas in the first half is more evidence of it. They're 1-5 from the 3 point line.

Texas has 11 more shots than the Razorbacks. 3 more rebounds. 4 more offensive rebounds. 4 fewer turnovers.

If Arkansas wasn't dominating at the free throw line 9-11 versus 3-4, this scrimmage would be a blow out. As it is, it's still a 10 point difference 40-30 at the half.

Also, we're sure a lot faster and "free-er" on offense than last year. Still not doing much in transition, but the offense looks a lot more "fun" early than it did last year.

This team is good and is going to be really fucking salty by March. My only major concern is if Disu/Bishop gets hurt and we are really hurting on size.

Just going to have to encapsulate them in bubble wrap and have the university's bionic team on call 24 hours a day in case something goes wrong. It's not ideal, but nothing to do about it at this point. I kept holding out hope Beard would pull something off in the offseason but Anamekwe is the closest we got.
