Hopefully this Texas team will be one of the ones that just finds a way through the season before hitting that peak at the end.

definitely have the talent to go on a run

This team has been through the wringer.  Jones injured early, Rori out the first 7 games, Moore now out for the year.

Gotta think this team will start to click and become more cohesive if players can stay healthy and stay in the lineup.

I just looked at the top 15 NET teams from last year.

The lowest seed was BYU as a 6 seed. Every other team finished as a 5 seed or higher.

We will work ourselves up to a 4/5/6 seed, maybe higher if we go on a run and win the Big 12 tournament.  Considering we still play (going by NET):

#12 ISU (home and road)
#16 Baylor (home and road)
#34 KU (road)
#48 OU (home and road)
#51 OSU (home)
#63 KSU (road)
#66 WV (home and road)
#80 Texas Tech (home and road)

TCU is the only team left on our schedule that isn't helpful (#145 and a home game)

Also the committee takes injuries into account and Rori being out when we played UConn, Louisville and Marquette has to be taken into account.

I just wish we had gotten that South Florida game (#33)

Regional hosts have to be at least a 4 seed. We have left ourselves with almost no margin for error to get there

Furq.

Well, by the end of the season we should be really good, so I don’t think anyone other than perhaps the top teams would want to see us coming to crash their regional.

Sounds like a good time to go on a run and win the conference tournament too. Have to let things play out, it’s so early in the conference season. Lots and lots of opportunities for Q1 and Q2 wins left

Moody Center – Austin, Texas

TELEVISION: The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2 with Courtney Lyle (pxp) and Carolyn Peck (analyst) on the call.

RADIO: The game will be carried on 105.3 FM in Austin. Craig Way (pxp) and Kathy Harston (analyst) will call the action. The broadcast will be streamed on TexasSports.Com.

TRIPLE-DOUBLE: Sophomore All-American Rori Harmon made history in the Longhorns win over TCU as she became the 4th player in program history to record a triple-double. Harmon scored 17 points and added 11 assists and 10 rebounds. After missing the first five games of the season due to injury, the Longhorns are 10-2 with Harmon in the lineup this season. In Big 12 play Harmon is averaging 12.8 ppg, 9.8 apg, 7.0 rpg and 2.0 spg.

GONZALES GOES OFF: Last time out Shaylee Gonzales scored a season-high 26 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter to help the Longhorns to a 72-59 victory over No. 23 Kansas. SCORING INSIDE:  The Longhorns have a 672-406 (39.5-23.8 per game) advantage in points in the paint over opponents this season. One of the factors have been the emergence of Khadija Faye, who is averaging 9.2 points and 8.8 rebounds a game over her last five games. Faye has posted four double-doubles on the season.

FAYE/GASTON DUO: Khadija Faye and DeYona Gaston are stepping up in the absence of Aaliyah Moore. Over the last five games they have combined for 22.8 points per game and 12.8 rebounds per game. The duo has combined to shoot 45-75 (60 percent) from the field. Gaston has scored 20 or more points in four games this season, including two of her last three games. Gaston ranks second in the Big 12 and 28th nationally in field goal percentage at 56.6 percent from the field on the season.

FORCING TURNOVERS:  The Longhorns are forcing 22.6 turnovers per game. In the last seven games they hold a 183-53 advantage over opponents in points off turnovers. Texas ranks 9th in the NCAA in turnovers forced per game and 13th in the NCAA in turnover margin.

One thing to note on ISU, they are 11-3 and 3-1 in Big 12 play, but they don't really have any significant wins. Our resumes are very similar, which is why they have a 1 spot edge over us in the NET rankings.

They lost to #8 UNC, #16 Iowa, and #17 OU

They won over #24 Villanova.

They lost those 2 of those 3 with Soares fully healthy (she got hurt during the OU game and only played 2 minutes).

Check out this bullshit here.

seen lots of incidental hits to the face uncalled. Never seen them review it after another play (inbounds turnover) because there was blood.

There are 2 situations in which you can review something like this after the play happened so it’s possible.
