Bluetooth transmitter for headphones

I have an Onkyo TX-NR686 receiver which puts out pretty decent sound. It has a bluetooth receiver so I can stream music from my phone.

On the other hand, it doesn't have a bluetooth transmitter. I want to the option to use my bluetooth headphones so I can watch TV without hearing the kids, or bothering them.

Assume I get one of the many bluetooth transmitters on Amazon, how would it know to pair with my headphones instead of one of the many other bluetooth enabled devices at home?

Also... recommendations on bluetooth transmitter?

I'd guess that your TV does have a BT transmitter that should be adequate for headphone use.  You'd bypass your receiver for the audio, but that's probably ok.

A lot of the BT transmitters out there are kinda shitty and shitty bluetooth audio is really shitty.

Never mind. I have a TCL with built in Roku. I just downloaded the official Roku app and it has the option to do private listening.

Shut this thread down.

I really like that about Roku.  A couple of my Roku remotes have integrated headphone jacks.  When I'm using one that doesn't, I use my Iphone as the  remote and use headphones (when headphones are needed).

Me too, I use that Roku function to have my outdoor tv connect to outdoor speakers via Bluetooth with phone as go between
