UF Jalen Kitna - arrested for kiddie porn

A 19-year-old University of Florida quarterback was arrested Wednesday on allegations of possession and distribution of child pornography, the Gainesville Police Department reports. Jalen Kitna, the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, has also been suspended from the Gators' football program.

"We are shocked and saddened to hear of the news involving Jalen Kitna. These are extremely serious charges and the University of Florida and the UAA have zero tolerance for such behavior. Jalen has been suspended indefinitely from the football program," the University of Florida Athletic Association said in a statement.

In a news release, police said they carried out a search warrant at Kitna's residence after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. During the investigation, police learned that there were two images of child sexual abuse material shared through the online messaging platform Discord from Kitna's home.

Kitna allegedly admitted to investigators that he shared the images, but that he thought it was "legal," since they were found online, police said. After sharing the pictures, though, he told police he realized he should not have due to the reaction from the Discord user they were sent to.

Kitna's Discord account was later deactivated, he told police, after he received an email from the messaging platform saying he violated its terms of service.

Investigators later discovered three more images of child sexual abuse material on electronic devices that were seized from Kitna's home as part of their search, police said. Kitna was arrested on two counts of distribution of child exploitation material and three counts of possession of child pornography.

Kitna committed to the Gators back in 2020. He redshirted last season, and has appeared in four games this season. His father, Jon Kitna, played 14 seasons in the NFL for several teams, retiring in 2013.

Wrong either way but where does it say the children were 8?

Where it implies that the other Discord user he sent them to responded "WTF dude that's a little kid that's illegal"

Maybe not 8 but that makes it pretty clear that the victims did not appear close to 18.

Wow what an idiot. Besides being a pervert. Pedophiles should just be convicted then loaded feetfirst into a meat grinder.

I hate it for Jon Kitna and his family. He’s a good dude, I met him when he was with the Seahawks a couple times. Dak’s best years were when Kitna was his qb coach; McCarthy didn’t even give him an interview. He’s the head coach/AD at Burleson High.

What in the fuck are you talking about. Since when are Florida and Pennsylvania the same state.

He's talking about Penn, which of course is a private university and does not answer to the citizens of Pennsylvania. As usual, someone who can't help but bring politics into something when there's no need to do so doesn't know what they're talking about.

Other than a handful of nice beach pockets, that place is an utter and total shithole.  I lived there, have family there, and I have never, ever understood people's admiration with Florida.  I guess it's like the "Braveheart" quote.  The trouble with Florida is that it's full of Floridians.

Glad he's in jail and suspended indefinitely from the team.  I know innocent until proven guilty, due process etc, but in this situation the university should move faster towards complete separation.  If guilty I hope he gets everything coming to him and more.

He admitted it ... Thought it was cool since they were on the interweb and then they found more (worse images) on his other devices.

Fuck...This...Guy... Florida should come out and say he is no longer a part of the university and not welcomed back

It has its charms in some areas. I usually go through the stages of visit. Day one, man it is really pretty here, I like all of the sun and colors. The beach is great. What did I hate about this place? Day 2: the food is mediocre, but the beach is nice. Day 3, I uh am done. Day 4; now I remember why I left.

It's a few years old, but this suggests he'll do at least some time for it.

101 months average sentence means he can look forward to a long stay in prison. Most interesting statistic in there to me is that 76% had little or no prior criminal history with an average age of 42 years.

One of the images shared by Kitna was of a prepubescent girl being sexually abused by a man. The phrase "so young junior" was written on that picture, and another of a pubescent girl. Kitna told a detective he thought the pictures were legal because he found them online.

When police searched Kitna's phone, they found three more images of two nude pubescent girls in the shower, according to the report. Those three images were saved to his cellphone last December, police said. The report did not estimate the ages of the girls.

Kenyon, the attorney, argued that Kitna should be released with no monetary bond and suggested that those three images could be considered child erotica instead of child porn.

Not sure it's a winning strategy for his attorney to be arguing that it's not child porn but rather "child erotica".  WTF man???
