Another horrible penalty.

What is the save rate at this WC? Has to be like 40/60.

Who has made one?  Bale, Ronaldo and Bruno come to mind.  I think he just said 4 have been saved

The quick list I found through Wed's games:

  • Enner Valencia (scored) - Qatar vs ECUADOR
  • Mehdi Taremi (scored) - England vs IRAN
  • Gareth Bale (scored) - USA vs WALES
  • Lionel Messi (scored) - ARGENTINA vs Saudi Arabia
  • Robert Lewandowski (saved) - POLAND vs Mexico
  • Ilkay Gundogan (scored) - GERMANY vs Japan
  • Ferran Torres (scored) - SPAIN vs Costa Rica
  • Alphonso Davies - (saved) CANADA vs Belgium
  • Cristiano Ronaldo - (scored) PORTUGAL vs Ghana
  • Salem Al Dawsari - (saved) Poland vs SAUDI ARABIA
  • Bruno Fernandes - (scored) Uruguay vs PORTUGAL
  • Lionel Messi - (saved) Poland vs ARGENTINA

Saved 4 of 11, so now 5 of 12?

So Korea needs to win by 2 or 3 goals, correct?

They need to win by the same margin that Uruguay wins by.

Even if they win by 1 less, Uruguay would need to score 2 more goals than Korea.

Despite this, they are keeping up their pressure on Korea. I don't understand why CR7 is playing so far offside without the ball.

Yeah they're playing tough. Always interesting to see what teams do in these situations. I think a lot of managers have the mindset that you want to keep up your momentum and go in to the knock outs playing your best ball.

But they could turn it down a bit in the 2nd half. We'll see.

The one thing that never gets brought up in the Suarez/Ghana 2010 discusión is the absolute Superman dive the Ghanaian player took to set up the set piece the play came from.  It should have ended up in penalties anyway with Suarez available against the Netherlands.  Uruguay is the one who should be pissed.

Also, fuck the Ghanaian national team.

BTW - have you guys heard that FIFA is talking about doing away with same time final day play and playing the final day like other days?

I'd welcome that. It's stupid having to watch 2 games at the same time.

Yeah - and it's not like they can't figure out what's going on in the other game.
I like the way it is done now. It leads to the bat-shit craziness that happened yesterday afternoon. Besides, if you play the final day group matches separately, you invite fuckery such as this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disgrace_of_Gijón

Suarez bite anybody yet?

Relajate, amigo. El Vampiro still has a second half in which to feed.

Still one of the funniest things I've ever seen is Suárez holding his teeth as if they were injured after biting Chiellini. Soccer shithousery at its finest.

That said, he's a legend in my book and his handball versus Ghana was brilliant.

In the end once the games are in the books you allow that. And therein is the problem. Playing them concurrently allows for you to let them develop together. And you end up with moments where Spain and Germany are out with Japan and CR moving on - if even for just 3 minutes.

He doesn't defend.

He has in the last 5-7 years. He's run his ass off late to press high and disrupt the opposition's build-up.

But probably not in the last 2-3 years, because he's old.

why the fuck is CR7 literally lollygagging offsides on almost every single ball played into the BTS quarter of the field

Because he's old and so much slower than he used to be, his best bet at a goal, besides a PK, is to latch onto a back pass from a South Korean who doesn't realize that CR7 is lurking offsides.

It doesn't mater what he did in the past, right now the guy doesn't defend. And frankly as much as he walks out there, he is almost better as the super sub.

Perhaps you may know him as "EL D10S", "Little Eel", or "Little Squat Man".
(I can't believe the announcer's choice of words to start the sequence.)

Also, the English still have an issue with the Hand of God.

Why is he wearing Uruguayan kit in these videos?  😉

Portugal just booting it around now. It's in front of SK if they want it.

Suarez might be the cuntiest cunt who ever cunted on the pitch? Yay or nay?

He's a cunt but that's a competitive field we're talking about.

He at least provides some entertainment or moments of brilliance.  He’s on the short list of course.

I would add

Vinnie Jones (before he started acting)

Pepe

Joey Barton

And he really isn’t even the worst Uruguayan footballer.  I’m pretty sure their proctology practices against Scotland in 86 have to count for some cuntiness points.
