Yep, Qatar is going to go full Mecca on this. Fuck...... Gorgeous boobs we will never see again. Thank you ladies for your dedication to humanity.

Ex-wife was almost arrested in Dubai for wearing a bikini at a beach. Resort, no problem, saw tons of euro boobs there. But anything in public... nope. I had warned her but she went one day with some friends when I was on a project. Dumb on her. Don't fuck with their culture. They have it, we not maybe agree, but it is their laws.

also, it is going to be amusing to watch the club team with two guys that scored 5 goals between them in the world cup final on the field for them choke out of champions league again.

Along that vein, think about how these guys are all returning to clubs and literally will be with players that beat them in the coming days. The PSG thing you mention here. Lloris-Kane at Spurs. Those are the biggest and highest profile I can think of. Who else?

So coming to the realization that Messi was the Goat all along.

Was/is a CR fanboy because of his speed power skills and good looks, but yea Messi is a beast

They didn’t include Rai on the list (although I’m pretty sure he got benched after the first game in 94).

They also didn’t include a certain other PSG forward.

Once I heard MiB compare John Strong’s goal calls to someone yelling from a moving car passing you by - that’s all I hear when I see the replays.

Yeah you are. Most high school coaches are total ass my dude. Also high school isn't where the future of the sport will be developed. It is in the club academies. While, yes, there should be better support at high schools. That is generally a public funding issue and not a USMNT development issue.
I absolutely understand that Clubs are where all the development takes place. But High School getting even worse is not helping. We have a couple high level club players that are not even bothering with HS because it's so shit. It brings down everything. For mid level players starting Varsity early is a valid goal and that drives up competition and work ethic in the clubs to a degree. Playing HS when you have your coeds and peers from school able to actually watch you play is motivating unless you are so baddass you are already in Europe.

As far as I am aware, unless the rules have changed recently, Academy players arent even allowed to play high school soccer.

I keep thinking back to Dibu's save in the 124th minute. When you consider the stakes, is that the greater save from open play in soccer history?

the balls on that guy. absolute big game player. he thrives when the pressure is at its highest. what a meteoric rise he's had after a decade of anonymity as a career backup at Arsenal. Emi's background/story makes me root for him that much harder. my mom started religiously watching Arsenal just before the Leno injury which propelled Emi to the starting role. what he's done since then is straight out of a hollywood script. so happy for him. Dibu 4 Ever.

The French goalie stoning Messi at the end of regulation has a strong argument as well. Without it, it's a walkoff World Cup winning goal by the game's biggest star.

I think that was the thing about this game from when France tied it up - it became Rocky with both teams throwing haymakers and the other side needing to survive. There were a number of great chance on very strong shots that need some damn good saves from Lloris and Dibu. And it was the biggest game of the world when at the time these goals likely decide the game.

That grand phallus in the middle of all that pussy…

Quick Note: The Obelisco was erected over two months in 1936 to coincide with the original Av 9 de Julio that was only 5 blocks long.

In the old planning of the city, blocks were square and 100 meters by 100 meters. There were already buildings there, so the city completely leveled 5 square blocks of buildings to create the widest street in the world.

In the 1950s it was expanded in one direction (south?) and then a decade or two later to the north.

In all, 25 city blocks were completely leveled to create this Avenue. That is why it is so wide. You basically have the old streets still along the sides and then more streets & bus lanes and whatever in the middle. It about 120 meters wide from side to side.

Also: The Obelisco is 40% as tall as the Washington Monument in Washington DC. Like down to within inches.

Definitely real. I’m headed there soon (I’m staying in a friend’s apartment a kilometer away), but will likely go elsewhere after that, because they have changed the bus route because there are too many people.

Yes, see above.

I had planned to go with my friends after watching the final, but buses & subway were suspended and no taxis were out.

I got separated from my friends in a local celebration about 6 miles away and then when I was looking for somewhere to pee, some of them backtracked to a train and took that into town. I walked about 3 miles carrying supplies for an asado at a different friend’s flat that actually overlooks the zoo and the official fan zone that was in a park across the street from the zoo right in front of the the US Embassy/Consulate building and to the side of the residence of the Us Ambassador (which is a massive French chateau that overlooks Av Libertador (where the trophy is passing today) and the city’s biggest park. “Parque Palermo”

The new route. (It was going to go counterclockwise, then go up the Av 9 de Julio.

Now it is going counterclockwise, skipping Av 9 de Julio and then stopping on the highway overlooking the southern end of Av 9 de Julio.

What was going to pass by at around 1:30pm to 3:30pm is now going to show up between 5pm and 7pm.

Complete shitshow, but Argentines wouldn’t have it any other way.

One thing I didn't see from that video, but it reminded me of is the fact that Argentina lost their first match. I mean we're almost a month out from Argentina 1, Saudi Arabia 2. And we were wondering if these guys were going to even make the KO round.

Yep. Kind of crazy. Were they the first team to win after losing their opener? I'd imagine they were.

4 million people coming out to see the team and the trophy in and on the edge of the city of Buenos Aires and that headline says that there are doubts about whether the team can actually complete the route.
👀

If you want to see shit smashed the fuck up, just wait until the team bags the center of town and heads back to the airport hotel/training area.

Store windows, lamp posts, police cars… it will not be pretty.

But… I learned that Argentina actually has at least working 4 planes to prove that they have an Air Force. I think I saw 2 trainers and 2 ✈️ ✈️ 30+ year-old jets fly by.

Shit is happening and I don’t know what. People are leaving the Av 9 de Julio and I haven’t even gone down yet. I’m trying to find out if the police have dispersed the crowd or an announcement was made that the team will be taking another route.

One of the main papers has this photo:

00710BBD-3B25-46AF-B4BF-8719D5D0D5E0.thumb.png.03ef54cc129023e07906bcfbcb036200.png

“Un viajero” would be translated to American English as “a roadie”, like the drink, not the person who helps touring bands. But whereas in the US we put our drinks in red SOLO cups, here…

They get a 2-liter or 3-liter bottle of Coke and either drink about a liter or pour it out and then cut the top off the bottle.

Then they pour an entire bottle of Fernet (Branca) in the warm bottle of Coke and pass it around. Each person absolutely does NOT have their own. This is a country that loves to share germs.

This was from Sunday in Av Cabildo @ Av Juramento in the neighborhood of Belgrano.

image.thumb.jpeg.8cbc7c71ba506d79eb75109bd0f9819c.jpeg

It is most commonly used for younger people going to a dance club or a game or whatever, but I also passed two guys in their mid-late 30s who didn’t look lower class at all on Sunday who had just bought their bottles of Coke & Fernet and were heading to Av Cabildo to either celebrate there or walk the 6 miles or so to the Obelisco.

It is very common to se viajeros on buses well after midnight on Thursday => Saturday nights.

An amigo of the friend I’m staying with has video of a woman (without fake tits) completely nude in the Plaza de Mayo (the main square of the city of Buenos Aires… and thus the country of Argentina).

Another video from farther away of a woman who climbed a lamppost and stripped and was bending over to entertain the people in the street.

For journalistic purposes, I’m going to try to get him to send me the videos. 👍

NOTE: No one was offended by this and they were not detained, but they will likely get plenty of action.

I was reading about Messi (La Pulga) and Di Maria (Fideo) flying up to Rosario after the city tour on the bus was abandoned (nothing was destroyed when the tour was called off, so I was wrong there) and Dybala flew along with them and then was going to take the plane to the province of Córdoba, or maybe drive from Rosario. I didn't completely understand, but he has a past connection with Rosario, but most of his younger years were spent in Córdoba. At the bottom I've linked the tweet of Messi trying to pull into his garage (his wife was driving) in what looks like a decent neighborhood, but which I would think is in a gated community. (He's worth hundreds of millions of dollars which might as well be Michael Dell-level wealth for Argentina.)

But at the other end of the spectrum, Julián Álvarez is from a town of just under 2,500* people (according to Wiki, but the article says 3,200 people) in rural Córdoba province. Wikipedia Español seemed to be impressed with their alfalfa production. He scored 4 goals in the World Cup and drew a penalty for one of Messi's PKs and yet he's NOT on the plane with Dybala after dropping off Messi & Di Maria. And to see him in his town, they have a route for cars to slowly drive and he will stand outside somewhere and the cars are supposed to drive by and honk, wave signs, take photos. It's like a birthday during the first 6 months of the COVID pandemic.

Here is the route and the instructions/restrictions for the caravan.

xCZYfeqgp_720x0__1.jpg

And this is the map (with scale listed bottom right) of the entire town of Calchín, Córdoba, Argentina.

My goodness. He will be able to buy everyone in the entire town except for the farm owners by the time he's done with the next World Cup.

Yeah but that wasn't 1 on 1 with no defender on the shooter.

Messi's extra time goal should have been the winner, but for some reason the officials missed a blatant handball on France right before the France penalty. It looked like freaking volleyball.

An Argentine paper had the video of the handball that you were talking about and then a video from a different angle.

I didn't notice it originally, and I hadn't even heard anything about it until I read that article last night, but the video from the other angle seems pretty clear that it did NOT hit is hand. (And Argentine news services know a thing or two about hand balls in the box.)

Look for this pixelated video to hit "Play" and watch for the evidence that it was probably a legit header.

UPDATE:

This wasn't his mom. This lady is one of the team cooks/chefs when they travel abroad and has been with the team over a decade.

The players are probably like her younger brothers or sons, depending on the age. They are like family.

So this is now amazing in a different way.

I saw it in Spanish first and then I think that ESPN had a blurb about it and then I watched a robot narrate a video about it on YouTube. Here's an English story about it.

REVEALED: The woman Lionel Messi emotionally hugged during the World Cup Final celebrations is much-loved Argentina team chef Antonia Farias who has worked with national team for over a decade

  • The woman seen tightly hugging Lionel Messi after World Cup win is revealed
  • Antonia Farias is the Argentina team's cook and is a popular figure in the squad
  • Farias has worked and cooked for the Argentine national team for over a decade
  • The pair were celebrating Argentina's memorable World Cup triumph on Sunday

The woman who was seen in an emotional embrace with Lionel Messi following Sunday's World Cup Final has been revealed to be chef Antonia Farias.

Much speculation had gathered on who the mystery woman was, with some believing it was a member of Messi's family given the tenderness of the hug. However, reports in Argentina state she is an employee of the national team.

Footage emerged of Farias wearing an Argentina shirt, approaching Messi in the post-match celebrations after Argentina's penalty shoot-out victory of France

That Telemundo number looks low as shit.

My guess is that there are plenty of people without cable who watched this match on Telemundo. There were probably more than 5.5 million who speak Spanish who watched it on Telemundo and millions more who don't.

I have no proof, but I call bullshit on Fox having 3 times the audience of Telemundo.

When I get back Stateside, I hope to watch the English and the Spanish versions of this match. I'm sure that my recording on Fox will get cut off because it went to overtime, but my eh-Spanish version should be fine, because I also record all of the postgame and they have plenty of postgame to cover for the match running long.

Cable had nothing to do with it. The game was on broadcast for both English and Spanish. The numbers are likely pretty close.

And the game started at 7am PST.   Imagine the numbers if this game was in prime time, like the next final will be.

The next final won't be in prime time, wish it could be. The games are going to be in the mornings and early afternoon when its back in North America. Europe is going to want the games at a "reasonable" time to watch. So likely the final will be at 1 PM Eastern here to be 6-8 PM across Europe.
