Understood.  It would be nice to pass some of that water thru.

Inks and Marble Falls don't hold enough to make a real difference. LBJ is so silted in, that it may not, either.

Grab a bucket and get to work.  ;)

Yeah, in all seriousness---we may need to think through an engineering project that can better improve downstream flows.  But Austin Water and LCRA can fuck up a cup of mussels, I mean coffee.  noCR, say what you want about Ellen Troxclair  .........she had some great and original insights into what we could do for water stability in the region.  So naturally, everybody ignored her.

There is already a downstream project in the works. They fucked up the design and thought it was complete 18 moths ago but realized it leaked so they had to basically start over. I think they believe it will be ready within the year now, but even once it is complete it will still need to be filled.

It is a 90k acre foot reservoir that is designed to collect excess rain that flows out of Austin or below Austin. It is basically held in reserve to be used to provide water to the rice farmers downstream and holding back more upstream for use in Austin.

it wouldn’t do much good now obviously because the current drought is so long that it would have been depleted, but it will be good in the future.

Fuck the rice farmers.

Yeah…those folks that were there making a living and promised water long before you decided to go wakeboarding on lake Travis.

If you want to take away what they were promised and afforded to them, you should pay them out on the lost wages of their livelihood and I am sure they will gladly retire.

Lol ok bro….

So you’re good with just simply reneging on the deal that was negotiated and codified decades ago, before the dams were first built, and just fucking over all of the families that were\are doing nothing more than what was promised them? Just simply cut them off and offer no reimbursement or payment for their generations of work?

Seriously, if you don’t like the deal that was previously made, renegotiate it and make sure everyone is compensated appropriately. It’s no different than any other contract. You can’t just decide “fuck ‘em” and stop the deal.

Yes.

My mom lives on Inks. Everyone in her subdivision who is not on the water has run a straw into the lake illegally. They just pay the people who will take money to dig across their lots. LCRA knows about it, and even though it's not legal, won't do a thing about it. One guy drains his pool and refills it from the lake on a regular basis. They all run their irrigation systems daily from the lake.

That's a blasting.

A rice farm in Texas seems like a horrible idea.

Like building a city on top a swamp bad.

Back in the day, we were the largest rice producer in the country. Things have changed, but water rights are very protected. They’ll eventually replace O&G as the most lucrative of ownership rights.

That whole event was bizarre and I award that storm no points. At least it won’t disturb my satellite now so I can watch all the coronation crap as Sausage/Tampon fingers (like seriously his hands are like ham hocks) gets his BKE on…lulz.
